A quick site update.

Up, up and away.
I just thought I would write this brief update on how the site is progressing. You guys make it tick, so I guess it’s only fair you get to know, right? That’s if you’re interested of course…

As most of you are aware, this site has only been going for just over a week, but we have come quite a long way in a short space of time.

The layout is getting there, although some parts still need tweaking. The articles are starting to flow. And I’m getting a bit more of a handle on this whole running a ‘blog thing. It has surprised me just how much can be done to be honest, and I don’t claim to be pefect so it could take some time, but if you stick with us and give us your feedback and report any little quirks when you encounter them we will get there in the end.

Anyway, time for a quick update. In it’s first week, the site managed 27,580 page views, which is more than I ever imagined to be honest. We are listed on all major search engines now and I am in the process of plugging the place a bit more.

I’ve also submitted an application to Newsnow for us to be featured on their network. It’s probably too early, and they might say no, but it will take some time to hear back from them anyway. If we can get on there though, it will be a big step in making this place accessible to a wider audience.

This is the 32nd article, from three different authors, plus there are two more authors waiting in the wings to get their creative brains in action. Those two shall remain nameless for now and you will have to wait and see to find out who they are.

All in all I’m pretty chuffed with how things have gone so far. As I’ve said, I am new to this so I’m learning as I go, and hopefully I have done ok so far. What I will say is that if you have any suggestions, ideas or feedback then don’t be afraid to let us know either in the shape of a comment in an article somewhere, or through the contact page at the head of the ‘blog. Don’t be shy, let us know.

Moving onto the future, obviously I want this place to be a busy and diverse platform for NUFC fans to get together and laugh, or cry. There is a lot of stuff that I have in the pipeline that will be revealed at a later date, but it’s all very exciting and will hopefully go towards building this place up.

Once again though, it wouldn’t be possible without you guys and gals, and for that I thank you all!

Thank-you.

  2. Can Larsson play on the left? I may be resorted to looking at fm 11 to see how accomplished he is there! 🙂

      (Quote)

  3. Apparently he’s filled in at left back before…but that may have been due to lack of anyone else able to do it rather than his ability to do well there.

  4. Nee worries Jill. I ended up doing the same yesterday.

BeeGuy – Are you talking soccer or the other football?

  5. i see if only he could play on the left then it make things a lot easier! If we sign Larsson we have a dilemma over the midfield when everyone is fit!

  6. see the reporter dude on twitter is saying we are leading the race to sign El Arabi and have made an approach to sign Jay Bothroyd.. what do yous think about him yous think he could cut it in the prem or not

      (Quote)

  7. I think at prefer El Arabi tbh, I just wonder why, If Bothroyd’s any good why nobody else as taken a punt on him as he’s 28 now.

  10. I see the Stevenage fan that smacked their player in the mouth has turned himself in, good! I bet the press are right p*ss*d that they can’t stick the boot in on us. hehe

  11. Don’t know mesel yet, as if things go to plan that will be my last week at work so they might have taken my car off me……if I still have it I’ll have to do a bunk early afternoon and hope I don’t get any phonecalls from the office to go anywhere….mind it’s not like it’ll matter if they sack me 😉 😈

  13. I remember being at Carlisle away in the 80’s and a toon fan ran onto the pitch and took a swing at Kevin Carr…missed him like, knobs then and now 🙄

  14. Still find bit bizarre that a “fan” would deck a player after the biggest win in their history – hope he gets fvcked over – really glad it didn’t turn out to be a toon supporter

  15. Toonsy, been digging the site since it went up. I like the FB pics in there now…very cool. Of course since we all go by our real names on here, it’s easy to tell who’s who… 😀

What about a way to see where the blog is being read? Is that possible. You are an international sensation now, after all. Wouldn’t you like to know how many countries your work is being admired in?

    Any way, keep it up…

      (Quote)

  16. Well, if nothing else, it should certainly serve to pad your ego, right? I mean, you could say to someone, “Yes, but I am read in over 30 countries.”

i just think it would be kind of cool…maybe stats on where the site is most popular…if possible. I know there are at least 3 US viewers (BeeGuy, MDS and myself). I am sure there are others too, but that’s all I’ve read.

  17. You know its actually something I have thought about before, about having a writer or two that isn’t based in the UK. Main thing is time really. I understand that a lot of people are around when us in the UK are asleep, which means that you’ll be reading old articles as such. Having writers from over the water would at least give those in different parts of the world something fresh to look.

    Good idea.

  19. Yeah, I like Norcal’s idea too

I know it’s early days yet, and the site’s only been up and running for a week or so, but I think you’d be quite chuffed to discover how global you’ve become already 🙂

Nice work toonsy, keep at it

  20. is a very good idea to have different writers from different parts of the world to contribute articles, who knows what might happen to newcastle football club in the midnight of UK? 🙄 😆

  21. For those who don’t know,Newcastle defender Tamas Kadar has joined League One side Huddersfield Town on a month’s loan and is line to make his Terriers debut at home to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night.

The Hungarian international was an unused sub at Stevenage last Saturday, but hasn’t featured at first team level since the Carling Cup defeat to Arsenal in October. He’s yet to play in the Premier League.

20-year-old Kadar appeared twice against Huddersfield in 2010, featuring in a pre-season game and then the Carling Cup meeting at SJP – the latter which his competitive senior team debut for Newcastle.

He’s also been given permission to appear for Lee Clark’s side in their FA Cup Fourth tie against either Arsenal or Leeds United, as well as the two-legged Johnstone Paints Trophy Northern Final against Carlisle United.

  22. Whilst nothing maybe happening at midnight in Newcastle, fresh news for the next day starts being released in the early hours around 3am as they’re about to hit news stands. Since blogs are a place where news is regurgitated and then debated, it’s not as daft an idea as it may seem. 😉

  23. lets hope the LArrson deal, and potentially Ziani or El Arabi can be sorted before weekend, we ned a lift before the ‘dirty unwashed’!!
All 3 players sem to be experienced with quality, i would hope Ziani could play the Beardsley role, before HBA comes back to destroy defences!!

  24. This in the daily star:
Just how good are the players in the Premier League? Not that good, according to 50,000 professional players, managers and journalists from around the globe. For the first time, Fifa’s team of the year did not include one English-based player. The team was made up of six Barcelona players, three Inter Milan stars and two Real Madrid players.
I had this conversation with my mate the other day in which I asked him, are the clubs outside the top 4 or 5 clubs in the epl closing the gap? Or is it a case of the top teams getting weaker?

      (Quote)

  25. According to Pardew Jose will be fine for the derby, but it’s fingers crossed for Carroll, Jonas and Goala.

      (Quote)

  26. Even earlier than that. Generally it’s about midnught when the press release a lot of their stories,

      (Quote)

  27. Top teams def getting weaker, champions league is an example
Most top players now want to play in Spain rather than England

  28. @ ross – same for me phones are down so trawling the net like. a fresh article would be nice toonsy get the banter going 😆

  29. Should hear today if we’re successful appealing Tiotes red card……..

    Cheik Tiote, Newcastle United FC
Stevenage FC v Newcastle United FC
The FA Cup Third Round Proper, 8 January 2011
    Dismissed for serious foul play

Claim received for wrongful dismissal. The Regulatory Commission will hear the claim on Tuesday 11 January

  30. Phones just arent ringing here mate. On my phone aswell so if it dies I’m done for. Bloody rubbish iPhone battery!

      (Quote)

  31. I don’t like the official wording of that. A fair tackle isn’t serious foul play. Won’t be overturned like. Does his ban get extended further than 3 games because we’ve appealed if the red stands?

      (Quote)

  32. Just if they deem it a “frivolous” appeal Ross, which they shouldn’t in theory imo however we are NUFC so who knows 🙄

      (Quote)

  33. if the appeal fails he could get an extra game ban which will mean him missin Sunderland, Spuds, Fulham and Arsenal if i remember rightly, lets all hope it get recinded

      (Quote)

  34. It should liven up now. Until this place gets on Newsnow it willl have dead spots as it’s only people who ‘know’ about this place that come on.
