Is Routledge better off at QPR?

Park life for Wayne
Wayne Routledge starred today in QPR’s 2-1 win over Coventry City. The winger even got himself on the score sheet after scoring Rangers’ second which proved to be the winning goal on the day.

I watched the game today and Wayne looked fantastic and took his goal very well. Few can argue that Routledge put in some good performances for Newcastle last season in The Championship and played his part in our promotion campaign. But does Wayne have a future at Newcastle? There is talk that promotion for QPR would automatically make his loan switch permanent, but this is unconfirmed at the moment.

Many United fans believe Wayne is ‘Championship standard’ and he isn’t good enough to be playing his football in the Premier League. Make no mistake it is a massive step up and a string of good performances in the lower leagues of football does not always mean success on the big stage.

Wayne has of course had previous stints in the top division with various clubs and his CV suggests he has failed a few times in establishing himself as a Premier League footballer. Is The Championship Wayne’s level so to speak?

The winger has found himself in and out the picture this season at Newcastle. When I look at Wayne I see a player with bags of energy and pace and ability but sometimes lacks end product. I certainly don’t believe him to be a bad player. The poor lad has been sent all around the country throughout his career and has been unable to settle wherever he has been and this can’t be good for his confidence in truth.

Maybe Wayne is a confidence player and needs to know he is wanted and rated by the club he’s representing in order to get the best out of him? Or maybe he is just better suited to Championship football? No doubt he will want to prove a point during this loan spell back at the club he joined Newcastle from a mere year ago.

Routledge recieved the Man of the Match award for his excellent performance this afternoon, and after the game Wayne said something along on the lines of “like everyone else he just wants to play football,” which got me thinking. Maybe the player asked Alan Pardew if he could go out on loan after QPR made the enquiry about his services? To be honest I initially thought it was more the player was told he was being loaned out, but who really knows?

Would you like to see Wayne return to Newcastle after his loan spell? Is it a case of Wayne needing to be wanted or is The Premiership too big a jump for him? What do you think?

I for one would like to wish Wayne the best of luck fot the rest of the season and maybe he can make it two promotions in two seasons.

  1. Dave – One woman got beat to death in her own house and got found by her daughter. The other got killed in a field across the road from me. Nice place like πŸ˜†

  2. Im not sure what Jonas would be like on the right. He just seems one of those players that likes to dribble with the ball on the opposite touchline. Also Benny might be a solution on the right wing as he’s played there for O’M and dribbles infield similar to Messi. They could swap round throughout the game. Enrique and Benny on the left is just a frightening prospect but perhaps Benny needs a defensive fullback behind him because he is so offensive. Im sure it is a problem that Pardew will welcome.

I think our strongest team with everyone fit would be-

  3. Great words from Muntari’s agent regarding his move to Sunderland.

“He knows Sunderland is a good club, possibly not the biggest but he wants to be playing football.”

  4. DJG – Jonas always used to play on the right in Spain. He is right-footed and got put out there on the left to accomodate both him and Milner as Duff was either shit or injured in equal measure.

  5. Dave – You’re joking about Ice’s dogs right? My dog was getting ripped apart by a pitbull outside the shop once and though it was playing so rolled onto the floor 😯

I had to get me hand in there and half strangle the fecker to get it off. If I’d have left it my dog would be no more πŸ™

That midfield is quality, and with Gosling, Guthrie and Ranger to come on from the bench I can understand why Pardew/MA are reluctant to buy in this window.

  7. Ice Batty told me it was horse meat you were flogging πŸ˜€

  9. It had a collar on, and luckily it was cold so I had gloves on, so I got my hand in managed to grab the collar and picked it up by it’s neck, which strangled it.

That dog was a fighting dog. Scars all over it’s face was one clue, but the other bigger clue was when I told my mrs to take our dog round the corner out of sight. Once my dog went it was sound as a pound and stopped being aggresive.

  10. Toonsy it has probably rolled onto its back in submission must dogs will stop when the other submits but not fighting dogs.
If it ever happens again try squeezing the dogs nose as its a lot easier than choking it by the throat πŸ˜‰

  13. For once, it wasn’t me. I’ve just been speaking to the server people and they confirmed that it was their fault. They were doing some work on the server which went on for longer than anticipated and resulted in some unplanned downtime apparently.

  14. ah reet, was just loading a blank page so tried it with firefox and it loaded straight away, just coincidence then. back on IE now.

  15. Rich – Was the same for me mate, only I couldn’t get on at all. I cleared my cache and cookies whilst speaking to the server people (sounds like a mini race 😈 ) and it loaded up fine.

I’m still a bit edgy about it though πŸ˜•
