Is Xisco heading back to Spain?

Xisco: Going back to his roots?
When you hear a rumour about one of your players leaving the club the tendancy is to feel a little bit anxious. Not this time though, not from me anyway.

Rumour has it that Spanish flop, Xisco could be heading back to sunny sunny Spain, and if there turns out to be any truth in the rumour I’m sure I won’t be the only one to say viva Espana!

Various rumblings have been heard on Twitter regarding a potential move back to his old club amid rumours that the 24-year-old is undergoing a medical at the Riazor. Fingers crossed that there are no hitches and we can finally fob him off on somebody else.

I’ve had a little look around for some news on this, and the only thing I could find was this article written in the Spanish publication ‘Marca’. I’m unsure how reliable it is, but hopefully it’s bang on.

There had been rumours a few days ago suggesting that Middlesbrough were looking at taking him on loan. Alan Pardew rebuffed these suggestions, but he did say that he had been in touch with several Spanish clubs over a potential move away from the club for Xisco.

I did used to feel sorry for Xisco to be honest. He was brought to the club for £5.7 million and was awarded a wage that, in hindsight, he should never have been offered. He struggled to make any real impact as the club imploded and hardly featured as the club limped out of the Premier League. He spent last season on loan at Racing Santander and never really featured prominently for the side as they narrowly avoided relegation.

Now my sorrow has been replaced with anger. I’m angry that he seems to not be interested in playing. I’m still angry that he feigned injury to avoid representing the shirt that you and I both adore. People will stick up for him, but at the end of the day lad hasn’t been deemed good enogh by ANY of the managers he has worked under.

I hope there is some truth in this. It may only be a loan deal, but it would at least shift a proportion of his wages off of our books. Xisco has taken our resources up for far too long now and has offered very little by way of a return. Hopefully he won’t be our problem for much longer!

Rant over!

  1. They chronicle have it as a done deal. Fantastic news to get rid of him. Bigger waste of space than owen

  2. The Chronicle say a lot of things. I want the club to say it, then I’ll print the article and frame it

  3. Shame its not permanant. No doubt we’ll be paying some of his wages.

Is it a coincidence that Xisco going coincides with Ireland arriving? Maybe Pardew has to let players go before bringing anyone in after HBA?
Anyway, this is another one out the door we needed gone. Just Smith and a few others now.

  4. Its been grating me all season people saying we should play him, Smith and Perch might not be great but they certainly give all they have for the cause the exact opposite of this mincing waste of space.

Shame we cannot let Deportivo just take his contract on like the mackems have with Rangers/Healy instead of having the prospect of him rolling up next season if he flops (Which he probably will)

  5. Stu I don’t think that’s the case as ap has stated that the club was actively trying to move him.

Still not sure how/where/if he’ll fit in but I s’pose if it’s a loan deal then it’s worth a punt.

  8. Dave – I think they’ll recover once the recesiion is over, but it will take time. Guiness is good and I like Leprechaun’s so the Ireland story looks ok to me 😀

  9. Richie I said the 1st time we were linked with him that if he got a club like ours where he will feel wanted and loved by the fans, I think he could get back to the form he was in at city before all the changes 😉

  14. Ireland is 90% a done deal. I have a sneaking feeling another will arrive tomorrow too.

Villa fans are making me laugh. They are choosing to depict the situation as a win/win for them as they feel solid performances for us will ensure he either returns a better player, or be moved on for a greater price. As if a set permanent fee wouldn’t have been part of the loan agreement. 🙄

It was just a Xisco “injury”.
