Is Xisco heading back to Spain?

Xisco: Going back to his roots?
When you hear a rumour about one of your players leaving the club the tendancy is to feel a little bit anxious. Not this time though, not from me anyway.

Rumour has it that Spanish flop, Xisco could be heading back to sunny sunny Spain, and if there turns out to be any truth in the rumour I’m sure I won’t be the only one to say viva Espana!

Various rumblings have been heard on Twitter regarding a potential move back to his old club amid rumours that the 24-year-old is undergoing a medical at the Riazor. Fingers crossed that there are no hitches and we can finally fob him off on somebody else.

I’ve had a little look around for some news on this, and the only thing I could find was this article written in the Spanish publication ‘Marca’. I’m unsure how reliable it is, but hopefully it’s bang on.

There had been rumours a few days ago suggesting that Middlesbrough were looking at taking him on loan. Alan Pardew rebuffed these suggestions, but he did say that he had been in touch with several Spanish clubs over a potential move away from the club for Xisco.

I did used to feel sorry for Xisco to be honest. He was brought to the club for £5.7 million and was awarded a wage that, in hindsight, he should never have been offered. He struggled to make any real impact as the club imploded and hardly featured as the club limped out of the Premier League. He spent last season on loan at Racing Santander and never really featured prominently for the side as they narrowly avoided relegation.

Now my sorrow has been replaced with anger. I’m angry that he seems to not be interested in playing. I’m still angry that he feigned injury to avoid representing the shirt that you and I both adore. People will stick up for him, but at the end of the day lad hasn’t been deemed good enogh by ANY of the managers he has worked under.

I hope there is some truth in this. It may only be a loan deal, but it would at least shift a proportion of his wages off of our books. Xisco has taken our resources up for far too long now and has offered very little by way of a return. Hopefully he won’t be our problem for much longer!

Rant over!

  1. bloody hell, Athletico reject a 39mil bid from Spurs for Aguero, didn’t think they’d be throwing around that sort of cash in Jan.

  2. Toonsy-I like the fact that’s under “Charity events” on Irelands website. Cheers for that you cheeky fecker, haha.

  3. Fcking Spurs offered 38.5m for Aguero!

Anyone think we’ll ever be in a position to pay that sort of money?

    Gotta say I’m jealous, like.

Desperation, mate. Pure and utter desperation. Now any striker they want is going to cost an extra 5 or 10million pounds.

Guillem Balague is saying in the last 24 hours they have bid for Llorente, Rossi, Negredo, and Aguero 😆 …Embarrassing.

  5. You have to admire Spurs transfer strategy. Carroll? No. Neville? No. Parker? No. Carroll? No. Oh I know, Aguero……….. No! 😆

  6. They obviously want a big name in for the final push in the second half of the season. They’ll be made to pay silly money though given the fact that they’re starting to look desperate.

  7. I’m confused.com…..how can Sky say they had a £38.5m bid rejected and in the same sentence say he has a £38.5m release clause in his contract, how does that work like?

  8. Rich – There are different release clauses. I read it earlier. Apparently the contractual buy-out would have been met, but Atletico could still demand more as part of it????.

  9. Richie-I was under the impression that for one reason or another, Aguero would have to put his hand into his own pocket to complete the move. Old man mentioned something about taxes when he was blabbing on about it but who knows.

  10. Release clauses get very complicated once VAT and other contractual issues come into play. Spurs will have to offer around 45million to truly trigger the release clause. I don’t see Aguero wanting to join Spurs anyway to be perfectly honest.

  11. I actually don;t see Aguero as that good to be honest. Certainly not the goalscorer that they are craving anyway……

  13. ET – I’ve not been impressed with him at all. I thought Aguero was supposed to be a player to rival Messi? No contest IMO. He was hyped up as a kid but had flattered to decieve whenever I watch him.
