Andy Carroll update – Improved Liverpool bid rejected.

Andy Carroll.

Andy Carroll.
Carroll saga continues...
The Andy Carroll saga looks like it could go right to the wire this evening.

It is being reported that a deal had been agreed with Liverpool for around £35 million, but this news has proven to be inaccurate after it emerged that the club have rejected a second, improved offer in excess of £35 million for the striker.

This story isn’t dead yet though and there will be more twists and turns until the window closes at 11pm this evening.

More to follow….

  1. to back it all up:

OK: some new news on Carroll. Sky are reporting that the second, improved, bid for Carroll has been rejected. The man from the cut-price sports shop: he says no. What does this mean? Are they holding out for more? Is the Torres move now stymied? It’s implausibly tangled.

TBH I’ve kind of come to terms with him leaving and thinking about reinvesting the money. If we reinvested the money well it’d be quite tidy business. Too many conflicting emotions man…

  2. Right I’m going to Stockholm and when I land I fully expect this saga to have ended, one way or the other.

My money is on Carroll being a Pool player.

  3. IMO carroll is going, this rejecting big money is just bullshit so Ashley can claim he tried to keep him before the offer was too good to refuse, they will have a price agreed already I fear.

I do, that way he stays and we have shown the so called ‘big clubs’ that we aren’t just some shitty little selling club. Cannot see it though.

  5. Looks like common sense has gone if they arent giving up at £35m, How they can consider paying more than that is ridiculous.

Unbelievable, Looks like they are just determined to prove a point now like Fergie when he signed Carrick for silly money…

  6. Reckon this will go until about 9/10. Fatty is just trying to squeeze every last penny out of them. We reject 30 and they reply with 35. Ashley as a business man will immediatly see it as smart to take the chance on rejecting the bid and having them hopefully reply with something in the region of 38/40. I get the impression that he’s essentially gone, we’re just trying to make the most of it financially.
It’s already too Late to replace him I reckon aswell, nevermind come 10pm or so when this deal is finalised. Watch us offer 5 mil for Bothroyd at 10:45 or something.

  7. If we don’t sell him, that’ll be more than a few brownie points for Ashley.

I will personally think about going to back to sportsdirect at some point in the future, next time I need some donnay socks

  8. Time to get Robben(bust up with muller recently on pitch) and eto’o in,if Carroll is set to leave.

is apparently rising to 40million. 😯

Nolan is in the car with Andy carroll? both going liverpool? 😯

  9. Only problem is though, is what incentive does Barton, Enrique and Tiote have to stay? What does it twll them?

Also we now have to go forward this season with Strolla, Lover, Ranger and Best as our strikers! God help us!

More twists in the Andy Carroll saga. Newcastle have accepted a transfer request from the striker – in spite of Liverpool’s two rejected bids.

  12. liverpool website says nufc have acepted offer after carroll hands in transfer request, just when you though it couldnt get any worse, good on mike for holding out so long though.

  13. SkySports

Liverpool FC confirmed this afternoon that Newcastle United had accepted a Club record offer for the transfer of Andy Carroll.

  14. Not happy, offer too good to turn down, unfortunate there was no time to get a replacement blah blah blah.

  15. can’t believe he’s handed in a transfer request after constantly pulling the home town club thing. Don’t think too highly of the lad now.

  16. That’s it?

Is it ****, sky have been wrong all day and have lost any dignity what so ever. They are loving the ratings and turning it into a soap opera.

  17. Maybe Carroll couldn’t see a future at the club, or at least a trophy!

In fairness though this is a ridiculous fee for Liverpool to be paying. Outrageous in fact.

I will reserve judgment on this decision by Ashley until August 31st. I fully expect all of this to be spent in strengthening the squad. Plus what he would have had anyway, so we should have 50m to spend next summer?

Bit more concerned about now though!

  18. Transfer request? Never thought I’d see that from him, absolutly gutted, after all the sh!te he spoke about wanting to be here for the rest of his life. He can’t play for us again after this, it’s done.

  19. Chasing the money at the first opportunity.

After the club stuck with him through all the court cases, All the headlines and how about Nolan who had to have these 8 foot ****** living in his spare room and having to call the polis after someone torched the ****** car on his drive.

Nice one Andy enjoy pissing away all that potential, Far too much, far too soon, The biggest waste of talent since Arsenal signed Richard Wright and Francis Jeffers.

Mercenary **** shitting on you hometown club 5 hours before the deadline…

  20. This is why you never get a player’s name on the back of your kit.

This is one crazy day. As upset as I would be to see Carroll go, there’ now way you can reject that kind of money…no way! The goals will still come, don’t worry about that. And come summer, Newcastle will be able to legitimately target a few key acquisitions. This is a good bit of business. An Academy player being sold for 35 Million GBP…that’s an owner’s wet dream.

Never forget that football is a business and the players are and owners are business men.

  21. Aye Ross, if it turns out he did turn in a transfer request and this deal falls through, he’ll be an absolute outcast.

  23. Ireland failed medical, can’t believe Carroll – what happened to I dont want to move anywhere – I want to be a newcastle legend
As soon as Liverpool offer him 80k he’s handing in a transfer request
Make no mistake this is about money – Carrolls been having us for mugs 🙁

  24. Ireland deal still on according to Gerrard Houllier. Can’t believe he handed in a transfer request! Makes it easier to say goodbye I suppose, what a f*cker! Pray that the money is reinvested. Wolfswinkle in the summer? Lavezzi? Cavani? We will see boys. Get tiote and Jose to commit and we’re still in good shape. Remember how Rooney to united benefited Everton? There is yet hope…

hope it’s doesn’t break spirit in the team

  27. I have to say like, Ashley’s still a tw@t in my eyes but well done for resisting all those mindblowing bids……….now invest ALL the money+ in the summer ya lying fat **** 😀 ………..unless of course he give AC £5m to put in the transfer request so that Ash wouldn’t get all the abuse 😉

  28. So lets sum up the window:

    In – HBA

    Out – Xisco
    Out – Routledge
    Out – Carroll

The squad is weakened yet again.

      (Quote)

  29. I am heart broken. A transfer request? There is no honour left in this game. I hate the whole rotten overhyped piece of **** game. This window is a joke. Why wait until the last day to complete these deals?? There is no hope of reinvestment now. 50 million for a player who has been awful. 24 million for Bent who has been **** this season. 35 million for a lad who has only played 20 games in the Premier league. Agents are ruining the game and the sooner the financial sanctions are brought in the better.

Liverpool don’t even have a manager and are playing awful. We hammered them a few weeks ago too…

  30. Kiss goodbye to the good run of form and strong team spirit-Reckon all the lads will be rocked by it, but hoping Nolan can pull it all together, he’s absolutely vital for us right now. Also goodbye obviously to dreams of grandeur and europe etc, got to be all about securing survival and nothing else, just like at the beginning of the season-17th is brilliant. Get ourselves a decent striker with more loyalty in the summer, followed with some more re-investment in the squad, here’s hoping anyway.

      (Quote)

  31. so what’s exactly the price then , 35 or 40 ???
anyway hope it re-invest to improve the squad ….. in the summer then 😕

  33. ET I doubt Uncle ‘Arry would sell them to us… Emphasis is on “us”

Fernando Torres submitted a transfer request after he gave Liverpool a chance…..
We obviously have played better than expected before the start of the season, but Andy Carroll hands in a transfer request…..

    Hard to say Mike Ashley::Respect

  34. come to think of it
if the reported to be true that AC hand in transfer request then obviously he’s not really love an commit to the club
so maybe they would think they’d better off without him
since we the team that play with heart and soul for the club

  35. I can now accept this transfer given the fact that Judas WANT’S to join the Bin Dippers.
