Ashley ‘resisting’ Carroll bid thus far.

To sell or not to sell?
Transfer deadline day is upon us, and personally I woke up to the rather unwelcome news that a big money bid had been lodged for star man Andy Carroll. The bid was said to be in the region of £30 million and came from Kenny ‘Dogleash’s’ Liverpool.

It’s hardly a suprise though, and in truth I think many of us were bracing ourselves for a day of speculation regarding Andy. It’s now been established that the mega bid has been rejected by the club, so I guess we can breath easy, for now.

The Chronicle is reporting that Carroll is today at the Newcastle training ground and the paper goes on record again stating that the 22 year old wants to continue playing his football at Newcastle United.

David Craig has been on SSN keeping us up to date with any developments and he has said that Mike Ashley is doing everything he can to ‘resist’ cashing in on Newcastle’s prize asset. Craig also says he expects more twists and turns today regarding this saga and reckons theres every chance of Liverpool coming in with another offer.

Of course Liverpool are sweating over the future of their own number nine, Fernando Torres. With the Spanish superstar being linked with a big money switch to Chelsea you have to wonder if Carroll’s potential move hinges on this deal as it’s been suggested that Liverpool don’t need to sell to bring new faces in.

£30 million is alot of money and although I’d be gutted to lose Big Andy if a bid is upped to say £35-40 million should we take it? Theres always the risk that our lovely owner could pocket the large fee and stick it on red at the casino knowing him.

Gaffer Alan Pardew was due to hold a press conference at 2.00pm, however this has now been put back to 3.30pm. No-one seems to know why at this stage. Hopefully he is wrapping up a deal or two. As of yet there still hasn’t been any confirmation of Stephen Ireland’s loan switch from Villa.

I’m sure that we were all hoping for a few decent additions today but you would have to believe that the focus of the day is ensuring that we still have our number nine come 11pm.

What do you think? What are your hopes for the next 9 hours?

  1. its not over until the fat man gets his cheque, so i am calming down until then.

i dont see why andy would want to leave, liverpool are hardly a big draw nowadays. money may come into it, but surely MA would offer higher wages to keep him and build around him and make his money back that way.

  2. We have agreed a fee of MORE THAN 35million with ADDITIONAL FEES ON TOP. Any chairman in the country would agree it. ANY

  3. Rick van Wolfswinkel (21) – 6 mill (though injured)
    Connor Wickham (17) – 6 mill

maybe with a proven EPL striker also, would be good buys?

David Craig saying he is hearing the deal is agreed for £35+

    The money is getting crazy!

  4. rumor has it carrol left training with nolan.

Im going to guess sky have no idea whats going on.

    Nobody does.

    Lets wait n see

  5. Yet another shambolic transfer window for us. Yet another where we’ve been left weaker than at the start.

This is disaterous for the club and the city, due mainly to the fact that Ashley is almost certainly not going to reinvest the cash! Look in the form book. The man is a crook!

  6. David Craig offical
“a second offer from Liverpool has been rejected”

No idea which one or for how much, the plot thickens

    down in your Liverpool slums,
you go in the bin to find something to eat,
you find a dead rat and you think it’s a treat,
    down in your Liverpool slums

  8. Has the second bid been rejected? This is complete madness man. Not only the way it’s unfolding but the money in question, I want to keep him but 35 ml+ is insane.
Ireland off is typical, we’ve tried to take a player with an injury.

Between 8-11 tonight is going to be hellish, it will be complete madness.

  9. Fckin Fred Carno’s this!

This is Ashley’s way of negotiating, he’ll be expecting them to go to 40m.

    Nice and quite window then!

  10. Haven’t been here for so long
    but today is fun

hope when the time past twelve we still be happy with a big smiling 😀

  11. Utter madness. This is win/win for us me thinks. We are seeing just how desperate the bin dippers are.

  12. Lets face it every player has a price, if someone comes up with 40 million I would take it – thats completely crazy money

Can’t knock Ashley, has shown his true colours – thought he would have snapped Liverpools hand off at 30 million but apparantly he’s now rejected 35 million
Shame about Ireland but pointless taking a crocked player

  13. what happened to I wanna be a Newcastle legend – first chance he gets he’s handing in a transfer request and going to Liverpool! wtf

  14. eh? Club accepted a bid when Andy handed in a transfer request? Something doesn’t make sense there like.

Have they come together and said it would best for all if he handed in a transfer request? Has his agent told him the club wouldn’t mind if he left so handed it in?

Wonder how it came to that, smell a bit fishy to anyone else?
