Money CAN buy you love……

Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll
Gone, soon to be forgotten.
Andy Carroll is on the verge of joining Liverpool from his boyhood team in a move that is said to be valued upwards of £35 million.

If you sit back and look at it, it’s fantastic money and is probably far in excess if his real value, but then again you could always argue that the potential of Carroll could mean that the price is a fair valuation based upon his age and how much he could improve.

Whatever.

It’s a massive kick in the bollocks from a player who regulalry used to tell us all how he was living the dream playing for his hometown club and wearing the number nine shirt. He talked of emulating Shearer and looking forward to the future at Newcastle United and only recently signed a new five-year deal with the club.

The rhetoric was that Carroll was not for sale during this window, and the club rebuffed numerous bids for the up-and-coming striker including the one that was eventually accepted. In the end, Carroll took the decision into his own hands and handed in a transfer request which the club ‘reluctantly accepted’ according to a brief statement.

The first time that someone flashed a bit of cash in the face of Carroll he walked out. Some may not blame him for that, even I don’t to an extent, but I would have liked to have seen a bit more loyalty from a player that has spent time in the headlines for the wrong reasons more often than he has been in there for the right reasons.

Court cases, arrests, allegations, off-field trouble or whatever, the club, and the fans, stuck by him. Loyalty, on this occasion, appears to have only worked one way.

What has pissed me off more than anything is that it has left us very little time to do anything in the transfer market to try and replace Carroll. Sure he will be a miss, but he isn’t bigger than the club and Newcastle United will live to fight another day.

No doubt he will pass his medical and go on to be a very good player, but no matter how much money the guy has it will never change the fact that he has turned his back on his own after flanelling off an entire fanbase with his cheap talk.

I note that Carroll’s advisors contacted Sky Sports to reveal that the decision made by Carroll was “an emotional one” but never mind eh? I’m sure the cash will help sooth the pain in your Liverpool slums.

The Beatles, another bunch of scouse shitbags, once penned a song called ‘Can’t buy me love’, with the preceeding word being money……

In the case of Carroll it appears it can.

  1. That Carroll to Steve Wraith text is absolute bollocks, Carroll (if it was written by him) seems to forget he put in the request? Doh!

I agree with the above – written by folks with an agenda – cant ignore the brutal facts.

  2. johno-I doubt it mate. not when we’re bidding 12 million for the likes of Insomnia. That screams panic buy. We wouldn’t be behaving like that if we had a striker going on behind the scenes.

This is the club trying to save face by spending some of the cash they’ve got from Carroll given the fact that they had no striker in their sights let alone ready to replace him.

  3. getting such a good deal for carroll, the moral high ground, putting a big in for N’zogbia at 10.55, makes us look like the bunch of unorganised incompetent fools that they seem to be.

On a different note, looks like we will have some money to spend in the summer, £12 mill for one player

      (Quote)

  4. still, I guess we will have some money to spend if they’re offering 12mil for one player. Hope to god we don’t go back in for zog though we could do better than that! Mr Carr, you have precisely four months to work your magic, and 35 million pounds to play with. Serve us well sir, serve us well.

  5. ILM-We went from being gutted/feeling f*cked over by Carroll, to now being thoroughly embarrassed not only by Carroll, but by the club aswell. At the final hour.

Well done Ashley and LLambias, regardless of your involvement in the Carroll deal you’ve shown a complete lack of organisation by not even considering a replacement striker, before bidding silly money for a player that couldn’t wait to get out of Newcastle mere months ago. Bravo lads.

  6. Big chance for Best and Ranger now!

I think the young man Ranger given the chance now could push on and be…

Who am I kidding, Im gutted. Howay the Lads.

      (Quote)

  7. Aye Ross, I think we must have sought a player that would only be refused by his team, and a player that certainly wouldn’t agree personal terms just to look like we were doing something…which is in fact worse imo. Pure stupidity.

Well…bring on the striker speculation for the summer…Just hope we can beat lpool, who will no doubt be much improved now, and just clinch survival so that we can re-invest propperly. We’ve got a strong group of lads, and we’ve been through worse -ala relegation and sacking merrygoround, we can pull through it again. Bitterly disappointed and annoyed, but can’t help but support the team. HWTL.

  8. Just so angry n gutted at the same time ,

Its was an offer to good to turn down

    but still hurts

Just cant get my head around why he wanted to leave or why he will say he wanted to leave.

dont understand why we hadnt someone lined up

Wind your neck in David Craig, I doubt they give a flying f*ck.

  10. Newkie-Exactly mate. Who knows what we were thinking. If you’re looking to bid for a player to try and save face, why didn’t we at least bid for someone that would impress players? With nee chance of getting them much like Insomnia, why not just pluck a name out the sky rather than making us look like idiots?

The fact we didn’t even make a stupid bid for a striker, is almost laughable.

  11. Well Pards cant keep ignoring Ranger maybe he’ll get stuck with the finishing bug and live his life with sex and danger

      (Quote)

  12. Ok Ok Ok – I GET IT!

    EVERYONE MUST GET IT!!!!!!!

Chris Hughton was sacked as he didnt know about player signings, he only brought us Ben Arfa, Best, Tiote, Simpson, Routledge, Williamson on a shoestring.

ALAN PARDEW is brought in for his WORLDLY KNOWLEDGE of signings throughout the world, and comes up with CHARLIE ********* NZOGBIA

    Im incredulous.

Aye well done Pards – you played a blinder you f’ing creep. You USELESS f’ing incompetent creep.

      (Quote)

  13. LMAO 😆

After A’rry said he laughed at us, did ya’s see that pathetic attempt to sign Charlie Adam and the SSN presenter on the phone to A’rry. What the hell was that Harry ❗

  14. I’m more seething with that useless pr#ck Pardew than anyone – what about contingency plans? What about knowing what to do – you f’ing spiv – too busy telling the world youre great instead of doing the job youre meant to – like Chris was doing.

    Fumin.

      (Quote)

  15. I’m pretty much laughing about the Insomnia bid it’s that ridiculous like.

We’re screaming for a striker having sold our prize asset, our only striker who scores regularly…..and we bid 12 million pounds for a wide midfielder who we sold for 6 a matter of months ago, because he was desperate to leave and fans ended up hating him?

You couldn’t write it. Mike and Dekka you reet bunch of clowns.

      (Quote)

  16. Just think. TV money + £35M in the summer. I liked Andy Carroll but 2 years ago he was a nobody and there are better strikers around when the market isn’t so inflated IMHO.

      (Quote)

  17. Fairplay, how sh1te did Carroll look with the ball at his feet even 12 months ago…..(here’s hoping he replicates that form for the next 5 years) but similarly this is rangers propper chance, with Shola guaranteed to pick up an injury at some point. We deserve some bloody good luck after all the **** we go through, who knows, maybe that moron on .com who even Jose laughed at on his twitter was onto something..RANGER IS OUR NEXT MESSI LADS. Or something along those lines…

      (Quote)

  18. F**k Carrol F**k Ashley

He was pushed he wasnt pushed. I dont care.

We will or wont have 35mil to spend in the summer. I dont care.

3 points against Fulham. I do care.

We need to secure our top flight status and finish as high as we can.

      (Quote)

  19. Just think we got Andy Carroll for nothing, trained him and kept him through the likes of Carver and even Wise, and sold him after a couple of years for a british record £35M+. I don’t want us to be a selling club, but even at the likes of Man U every player has a price. All we can do is turn down offers, if the likes of Man U and Chelsea come in for Enrique and Tiote we can turn down offers all day but if the player hands in a transfer request what can we do. Remember Carroll has very little brain power and was probably persuaded by agents on the make very easily.

      (Quote)

  20. I notice Carroll is playing the old victim card. Oh yes, of course you are a victim Carroll. A victim with a formal transfer REQUEST, extra 50k per week and a big grin on your face.

      (Quote)

  21. Johno-Tough ask when your remaining 3 strikers have something like 12 goals between them. We literally don’t have a striker capable of scoring regularly in the league now.
Insomnia was obviously the improvement on Routledge. Excellent bit of scouting there with 35 minutes to go.

Panic bidding at it’s very best.

      (Quote)

  22. Could be worse lads….Wigan could have said yes to 12 million for Zog and AC could have went to Spurs for 25 million!!

      (Quote)

  23. Its a shame Henderson didn’t go to Manure for £20M coz that would have wiped the smiles off their ugly faces. 🙂

      (Quote)

  24. IT still hasn’t properly hit me that Carroll has left yet like. It wont sink in until I see him on a Liverpool teamsheet. Sick like.

      (Quote)

  25. Ross what more can we do? I have no idea whats gonna between now n end of season. I dunno where the goals r coming from. But we would of been without carrol for 4weeks r so in anyways

      (Quote)

  26. Very well said DJG. Too many people are getting caught up in this so called ‘text message’. I have no ill feeling towards Mike at the end of the day £35m could turn into £40m + with the addons. That is mental money. I believe it was Andy’s decision and his head was turned.

      (Quote)

  27. The text has no substance as the club can’t force a player to hand in a transfer request. Andy has not denied handing one in. I don’t for a second doubt that MA and Llambias are grinning right now. However, I don’t believe this Carroll tripe. He is trying to save face because he just the other day was talking about being here for good.

      (Quote)

  28. benarfashow

Exactly, don’t worry Dogleash still has plenty of time to mess things up an bankrupt Liverpool. Our bank balance must be in the black thanks to Abramovich’s dosh. 😎

      (Quote)

  29. Johno-There’s nowt more we can do mate, i’d have just expected some sort of ambition to be shown by the club when it came to replacing Carroll.

As i’ve already said, it was apparent when he handed in a transfer request in the early afternoon that he would be leaving. A transfer request shows he wants to leave and it was quite obvious Liverpool were going to get their man. We’re silent up until 10:35 and we break that silence by making a 10 million bid for Charles f*ckin Insomnia. Not even an effort to sign a replacement striker.

Pardew has some serious faith in the likes of Leon Best and Shola Ameobi. Ranger has shown he’s not going to do it this season so it’s down to Ameobi, Best and Lovenkrands. 13 goals between them or something?..What did Carroll have, 11 this season himself?
Lets hope Colo found his shooting boots against Spurs eh?

      (Quote)

  30. Thank god this window is over. We are NEWCASTLE UNITED not Carroll united… Bring on fulham and bring 3 points!
    HOWAY THE F-ING LADS!!!

      (Quote)

  31. What a bunch of drama queens!

35+ mil for Carroll is good business by any standards. Go to Ed’s blog please and leave this one for people with a sense of perspective. Carroll will be missed, sure, but do you really think he is the difference between relegation and mid-table? What then are you saying about Colo, Jose, Barton, etc? Are they of no consequence? Are they ****?

What it probably means is that the 5 year plan to get us on a solid financial footing (and, remember, we were all in favour of that) has probably now been reduced by a year or two.

      (Quote)

  32. By the way, what ever happened to that Spurs prat on here claiming they were nailed on to sign Karim Benzema tongiht? What a tool 😆

      (Quote)

  33. i think we’ll be alright goalwise. If we play a 5 man midfield. Nolan will continue to chip in. Once Benny is back id imagine he will too and who knows if Ireland gets his head straight he’s got a few in him. Ameobi gets the right service then he’s a banker (50% of the time :)). Im not worrying yet. Just glad we didnt panic buy and pay £20m for Carlton Cole or something.

This is also Rangers big big chance to start fulfilling his potential

      (Quote)

  34. TBH I would rather we limped to the summer when the market will be less inflated and better player will be targetable.

Then again I don’t even think we will ‘limp’ considering we are unbeaten in 4 games without Carroll, and very unlucky to draw twice.

      (Quote)

  35. Stardust, maybe Chris Hughtons star buy Leon Best might be our new number 9!! 😛

      (Quote)

  36. we must have one of the healthiest bank balances in the league now? Its actually quiet refreshing to see. I think having little or no debt will make us a big prospect/threat, when and if the new FIFA regs come in.

      (Quote)

  37. As i said 3 points against fulham is now what counts.

Would love to finish above liverpool now.Even more so now

      (Quote)

  38. Aye Booby – youre man Pards played a blinder – Im seething with the slick haired, star on teeth spiv

He hasnt got a friggin clue. He had done the square route of zero homework. He know no-one. I thought he was the “knowledgeable man” brought in to bring in players from far and wide with his international repertoire and encyclopaedic knowledge

      (Quote)

  39. Still disappointed like. Gudjohnsen ended up going out on loan to Fulham in the last couple of hours, no doubt he’ll get a go against us. Sturridge to Bolton, i’d have taken either of them when we found out Carroll was out.

      (Quote)

  40. I think people need to re-evaluate the summer spending. The Carroll fee won’t be all paid up front I’m sure

      (Quote)

  41. ya would have liked to have seen Sturridge here. Bendtner was never a runner although and people might slate me, he’d have been an excellent addition to the squad. Great in the air and also got some ability with ball at his feet.

Kevin Doyle anyone? im happy with what we have anyway especially as we’ll prob be playing a 5 man midfield

      (Quote)

  42. Stardust

It’s exactly that sort of panic buying and paying inflated prices for players (dogleash) that Im so glad we’ve avoided. In the summer Carr and Pardew will do business, i’m sure of that.

      (Quote)

  43. Been at work til 11pm, gutted is all I can say. Think if we’d have got a Bendtner or something in to soften the blow it’d be better but its just not good! Everybody happy to a degree apart from the most loyal fans in the country who get shafted once more!
Summer a long way to cope with any new injuries fingers crossed Strolla, Besty/Lovenkrands can keep injury free and Ranger steps up to the mark!!
4-5-1 is the only way forward now, Ben Arfa, Gosling, Ireland all hopefully raring to go and push us forward without Avatar!

      (Quote)

  44. I’ll be intrigued to see what Carroll has to say about the move and how long it is before he’s playing aswell. If he’s pegging it around for the bin dippers inside a fortnight questions will be asked.

      (Quote)

  45. Reet lads i’m away, try and sleep this off. Sure more will be revealed in the coming days as to how it all went down but chances are we’ll never hear the full story.

Gutted but we’ve got games to think about starting with Fulham. HWTL.

      (Quote)

  46. I can see Andy going off the rails in Beatleville, especially if he brings all his muscle with him. wont have a Nolan to look after him!

Looking forward to the game on Wednesday now. Fulham are the draw merchants! Going to be positive and say 3-1 to us

      (Quote)

  47. Its incredable to think that in the space of not much more than 12 months Carroll has gone from being a 3rd choice striker for us in the championship to a £35M player. I can’t believe a club has paid so much for him oof the back of 12 good months and 1 friendly cap. In another 12 months he could be a total flop and one season wonder!

      (Quote)

  48. DJG-lets hope so mate 😀 I retain hope of him fulfilling his potential and eventually returning to both his and my home town club…Gateshead. Help them in the push for league one and turn them into a helpful feeder team for us and i’ll be happy with that. He can then waste away in the lower divisions like the traitor he is.

Still, theres got to be one “local lad” on Tyneside who’s loving it-Stevie Taylor! Everyone was against him after the scuff and Carroll was chummy with all the lads-now everyone hates him and Taylor can be the star man again..haha. Oh the irony.
