Game on! Newcastle v Everton.

Let's get it on!
After a week of rest and recuperation it’s back to work for the boys in black and white as Newcastle welcome Everton to St James’ Park for what is likely to be a tough encounter.

Everton will be missing the likes of Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini, although doubts over the fitness of Louis Saha remain as yet unconfirmed. The former Toon striker may play, but just how fit is he? That is, and has been, his problem for a number of years now. Despite that though, David Moyes will have his side riled up and ready to make amends for their disappointing midweek FA Cup exit to the hand of Championship outfit Reading.

The match also gives Newcastle the chance to end the two-and-a-half year hoodoo in which they have failed to win a Saturday, 3pm kick-off. It has to end some time, surely?

If you haven’t already done so you can cast your eyes over my match preview and eye up some team news, injury updates, form and fun facts by clicking here.

With regard to streaming (I think Niall Quinn just shuddered then) the match, it’s been hit and miss all season when it comes to quality. However, a quick look at the MyP2P site does at least fill me with a slight bit of hope. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll find one that will be good for 90 minutes. I won’t hold my breath though, but if you do manage to stumble across a decent stream then please feel free to leave a link to it in the comments section below.

That’s just about it. All that’s left for me to say is that I hope we all end up enjoying the game!

Team news is as follows…

Newcastle: Steve Harper, Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Danny Simpson, Kevin Nolan, Cheik Tiote, Jonas Gutierrez, Leon Best, Peter Lovenkrands.

Subs: Tim Krul, James Perch, Shane Ferguson, Danny Guthrie, Michael Richardson, Shola Ameobi, Shefki Kuqi.

Everton: Tim Howard, Tony Hibbert, Phil Jagielka, Sylvain Distin, Leighton Baines, Phil Neville, Jack Rodwell, Mikel Arteta, Leon Osman, Jermaine Beckford, Louis Saha

Subs: Jan Mucha, John Heitinga, Seamus Coleman, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov, Shane Duffy, Jose Baxter, Victor Anichebe

Howay the lads!

  1. Too little quality in midfield?

I thought we were overloaded in midfield, lol.

I would love our criticism to be consistent, it seems to change daily, one way to the other. It makes us look daft and fickle.

  2. too little quality in midfield today…thats not fickle, it’s a fact…numbers and quality are not the same thing…

  3. Everton have been closer to extending there lead than we have to equalising…they could have had 3 more goals….

  4. dead right Ice….one destroyer and three cruisers who got nowhere near the ball…all too easy for Everton…

  6. My god we were unlucky today!! Everton are simply one of the worst sides I have ever have the unpleasentness to watch. Cheating thugs! And don’t get me started on Howard Webb today.
Not saying we should have won, but we defo didnt deserve to loose.

  7. some players went completely missing today.

Howard Webb’s performance was expected to be honest…after the Arsenal game and how the crowd influenced the ref, I have noticed the 2 ref’s who have been here since have give every single decision against us. You just know the FA referees have been given a brief about St. james and not responding to the crowd.

  8. Yeah, lack of quality in midfield TODAY. We have Nolan, Tiote, Jonas, Ben Arfa, Ireland, and Barton that are first teamers. No lack there.

Injuries happen, you can’t moan about that really. Complain about defenders who don’t defend sure, but lack of players isn’t the players fault.

  9. i went for win didnt know webb was ref, even so well beat,we arnt looking over our shoulder they say,you better had playing like that imo

  10. Shane Ferguson looked good when he came on, I would have liked to see him on the left wing and put Jonas on the right…

  11. toonsy for once I will disagree with you 😉

We controlled the match. 60 % possession over 90 min. We had lapses in defence today, yes, but we had so many deflections in their box.
The only real chances they had were counter attacks. Their freekick goal was superb hands down.
They weren’t here to play football as much as they were here to thug(Hibbert, Heitinga and Anichibe to name a few.) and cheat( time wasting started with neville after what 49min??).

  12. ice, FSOTC…thank goodness people are watching the real game…we could have lost 1-4 today for goodness sake. We also had too little quality in midfield today…end of story…

I wish we would give up on this europe ****…we need to look over our shoulders before complacency sets in…it seems to have set in with quite a few of our fans who are more interested in the wrong end of the table… More injuries to contend with too…disasterous is more like it if you ask me….

  14. We have a fortnight to get a few back, Barton and Ireland and hopefully Jose and Jonas will shake off what they picked up.

  15. MM my dummys out too,got to look at the real world, little if no getting to bye-line,just hoof from 20/30yds oot, everton loved it walk in the park for them imo, just nee midfield at all

  16. Ice/Munich – Agreed. Not enough movement which encouraged us to cross from deep. We couldn’t get behind Everton and they just mopped up what we threw at them.

Still, two weeks without a game now so hopefully we can get some injured players back for the trip to Stoke. I’ll be there 😈

  17. Didn’t anyone notice the strikers today attempting the impossible too much, when they can just head the ball instead of trying overhead kick? 😕

  18. i have never said anything about europe, never will this season lets just get safe,we have a small group of players that can do it,so too have everton good players out and one sold, they still showed us the way home
