Llambias lambasts Keegan!

Derek opens his trap.....
A war of words looks to be breaking out between Newcastle United and Kevin Keegan as the club have hit back against remarks that Keegan made in a radio interview earlier on in the week.

The short version of events is that Keegan suggested that Alan Pardew will be lucky to see any of the money that Newcastle pocketed from the sale of Andy Carroll, but if you want to hear the long version you can do so by listening to my carefully borrowed recording of that particular radio interview by clicking here.

At the end of the day, it’s Keegan’s own personal opinion of the situation at Newcastle, and you could argue that he is better placed than anyone to pass comment on what could potentially happen in the summer as he has had to endure transfer proceedings under the current ownership. It may or may not be sour grapes, but as I said a moment ago, it’s still his opinion and he is entitled to it.

Not according to Managing Director, Derek Llambias though who has emerged from the rock that he usually resides under to pass comment on Keegan’s words. Llambias believes that Keegan is being a tad hypocritical with his remarks, as evidenced by these quotes that I picked up from The Express:

“How can Kevin Keegan talk about having any concern for this club’s finances when he took action against Newcastle United that could have finished us?” said Llambias. “He was claiming close to £26m from Newcastle when he took his dispute over his departure to a tribunal. In the end he was awarded the minimum amount – just £2m.”

Now not many people actually like Llambias, for whatever reason, and this is hardly going to win anyone around is it? The classy thing to do would have been to rise above and let the actions speak louder than words rather than incite a war of words with a chap who has actually been proved right at their expense before.

Yes, Keegan was wrong to claim for such a high amount, in my opinion of course, but it’s gone and it should all be water under the bridge now. Heaven knows how these quotes came about, but I bet a casino, 2am and lager had something to do with it. That’s what it sounds like to me anyway.

Time will tell us just who is right on this one. The club could really stick two fingers up at Keegan, prove him wrong and go and spend the cash on strengthening the squad. It’s the kind of childish thing that they would do after all…. Hopefully.

Or Keegan could be proved right again?

  1. Well to be fair i don’t think it is any of Keegan’s business what goes on financially at the club now. All’s he has done by saying that put newcastle in the bad press again, and causing conflict over a time when he was at the club and has never got over that. he shud have kept his nose out of it, and let the club get on with it 👿

  2. @ 1 what the f@ck has got to do with you whatever KK says ? is he a lesser fan than you ? dont think so matey boy he’s also a fan 4 life and is entitled – therefore stop trying to prevent him from speaking his mind.

  3. roy cropper – alls i am expexting was for keegan to act professionally about the matter, i am not judging him saying he is a lesser fan that would be ridiculous, but what i am saying is that he shud not public ally be going out and slating the club saying what will and will not happen when he doesnt know that because he is at the club now, you wouldnt see chris hughton coming out saying that we wont see the 35 mill would you, it is a person feud between him and mike, he needs to get over it!!!

  4. I think it was more a kind of brinksmanship by KK.
Almost daring cashley to spend money, in a reverse psychology kind of way.
Well done him, if it works

So much for no comments from the club except through Pardwho? It didn’t take much bait to get a bite from the owl headed gimp did it. **** has just shown himself to be as clueless as ever. Stupid bastad. 👿

  5. David – KK can say what he wants mate. Its a free country. But yes he is still very bitter about the way things ended up, and isn’t over it yet. Thats obvious.

      (Quote)

  6. Beardsleys Boots – i agree just, i would have thought and expected him to be more professional about the matter 😥

      (Quote)

  7. KKs always worn his heart on his sleeve and said what he thinks, Llambias should have rose above it rather than bite
I still have plenty of time for Keegan and can only thank him for the superb footy we played under him 1st time round, footballs changed a lot since then tho and he throws his toys out the pram at the first hint of someone not backing him or press/fans getting on his back so should stick to being a pundit
Llambias is a **** who should leave our club or at least shut the fvck up

My point is….. err I don’t have one

  8. @ 3 he was being interviewed by the bbc & gave his opinion on the matter – he wasn’t slating the club – far from it.

it’s called – not sitting on the fence.

re: hooter – how do you know what he would & wouldn’t say if he was in the same position as KK ?

  9. David, I expect the clowns running the club to be PROFESSIONAL too.

    We live in hope 😕

  10. stardust’s usually first on the scene when there’s a bit of KK bashing going on – he must be really busy with that mansion he’s having built.

    the ****.

  11. roy – Hughton showed this when he had his first interview after being sacked, he didn’t go into intimate details as he didn’t want to paint Newcastle in a negative way. thats how i know!!

  15. What I don’t understand about Llambias is that he says absolutely nothing for months on end and then comes out and has a pop at two of the clubs biggest legends.

Why doesn’t he concentrate on keeping supporters in the loop about what’s going on, rather than slaging all and sundry off.

      (Quote)

  16. roy- its not like i have anything against kev, he is a toon legend, he is entiled to his opinion as well and i respect that, and your views. Just the way he came of it, he doesnt have to puplically come out and say that and provoke a reaction.

any way what your predictions for the match todays lads 😀

  17. Batty

Any horses for today? Could do with winning a few quid.

Heard the interview in the week and KK just gave his honest answer to the question. Yes with a hint of sarcasm but it was all very natural and with no malice IMO Please don’t tell me there are goons out there who think we are going to spend £35 million or more on transfer fees this summer. Look at the vote results

      (Quote)

  18. The fact is, KK is a toon legend for his past efforts, Lambarse shouldn’t be anywhere near NUFC and hasn’t got a clue. KK is entitled to his opinion, but if he brings his own personal vandetta into the public sphere, then “the club” are entitled to comment on his obviously imflammatory comments. Which of us wouldn’t feel the need to comment if we were being slated in public ?

I am by no means a great supporter of the current regime, but KK blathers a bit too much at times…has he got nowt better to do ?

  19. Anybody fancying Citeh to beat wigan today bet in a ladbrokes shop. A £10 bet on Citeh gets you a £5 credit for the machines. For £10 you win £3 on Citeh winning the match. With your £5 credit do one spin of roulette £2.40 each on red and black 20p on zero. Minimum return £4.80. So for your £10 tou make a profit of £7.80
Good odds for Citeh against bottom of the league.
Sounds complicated but those familiar with betting shops will get my gist

The blokes famous for saying nowt and then all of a sudden he comes out with a personal attack.

Doesn’t make sense, anyone know where the quote came from?

  22. ILM…seems as if Lambarse is defending a personal attack against himself and the club….

I smell a rat, maybe this is the start of some kind of process whereby the club try and muzzle KK……or maybe he has just ventured from under his rock….

  23. Goota go and catch the train

Really confident about today but then again I was really confident about the Blackpool and Wigan games but that was when clueless was in charge. We have a proper manager now

      (Quote)

  24. Think Llmabis should of stayed out of it tho never a fan of ex players or ex managers commeting on us , no matter how valid a point is or how innocent the comment it always seems to me as sour grapes. Im not saying the club is above critisim or anything like that.

  25. Nice and quiet on here, great news when I am the only one at work on the weekend.

    I will talk anyway!

I would like to see us try out the 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 formation today if Joey and Ireland are fit.

I dont think we should be relying on wing play as we dont have the wingers that can cross a decent ball, and we dont have the strikers for it.

I think Tiote protecting the back 4 and then fluidity further forward with nolan and ireland taking it in turns going forward to support the front man (Best / Strolla). I think then we probably will play joey and jonas in midfield to provide a little bit of width and stretch Everton, but I dont think they should be limited to playing out on the wing. Wouldnt it be great to see all 4 in the midfield swapping around and popping up all across the midfield? It would provide a nightmare for marking. Tiote and Best would have the assigned roles with the others given free reign. This is only until Benny boy is fit again and then we can have him in instead of Jonas and its all go.

  26. I know that feelin in work myself raffo til 5 🙁

I think next season we are going to play something like that raffo , or when ben arfa comes back , think it would suit us

      (Quote)

  27. Well I would like to see Tiote and Barton protecting the back 4, play with a new striker up front and then Benny – Ireland – and A.N.Other on the other wing, Hazzard or someone of that ilk. I think the days of 4-4-2 as a rule are gone. Look at Manure, chelski, manshitty, even the spuds, noone plays 4-4-2 anymore and they all have the fluidity and attacking flair we just dont have. I would love to see us play with 3 CB’s but I know we simply cant do that!

      (Quote)

  28. raffo…sounds like a great formation. Once HBA get’s back he’ll play the wild card Beardsley roll, unlocking defences with his skillful passing and dribbling skills..

      (Quote)

  29. Why should we play with 3 centre backs ? With Tiote sitting in front of them that would surely be a waste of resources…?

As for what is going on, just Worky knifing me in the back with ill-informed drivel. Apparently he is the only one who can set a blog up and everyone else must be copying him. A shame really, as he doesn’t know just how much work has gone on to this place to actually make it different to .org.

Still, in the past now. Everton now 🙂

  45. If Guthrie plays on the right Simpsons gunna have his work cut out because Guthrie won’t stay there – or help Simpson out at all.

Anyways im off to the game soon, expecting a draw but hoping for a 2-0 win. Fancy Best to grab one.

  47. This will go down like a prossie on the streets of Huddersfield, BUT Shearer and KK are just fans like you and me. They dont have the knowledge and pressure of running the club and keeping it going. KK was able to spend vast amounts in his first stint and they were good times, but we are a different club now. KK and Shearer can say things, but just because they say it doesnt make it gospel

  48. AlanPardewProject..if Ashley wants to redeem himself in any way in the eyes of the toon faithful he couldn’t do much worse than toast his chairman, and get a football man in his place. I could be wrong, but this guy will NEVER win the respect of the toon fans imo..

      (Quote)

  49. Munich – I really wanted to see David Dein brought in, that coupled with the project and Graham Carr’s 20:20 vision then we would be so much better for it. But ho hum

      (Quote)

  50. raffo…David Dein at the toon would be immense. He’s got a bit of financial clout as well from what I recall. That would be great news if it were to come off !

  51. Guilt by association…Lambiarse is seen as one of MA’s henchmen, and rightly so…ditto Pardew… We don’t have any more Geordie messiahs to go round !…now getting in someone with a standing in the PL would be a great move….

Toonsy the donation thing was well avoided wasnt it. Pathetic really. How much does it cost to run one of these things then? Also I have notice that Hugh writes all the blogs now.

Anyway I really cant be bothered with the childish thoughts and thats another reason I dont go onto Ed’s
