No Newcastle players to represent England.

Deserves a cap?
First and foremost I would like to thank everyone for their support during a tough time for me, it’s been a hideous week in truth. Bare with me as my article writing may have gone a bit rusty- it’s been a while.

So the latest England squad has been announced this evening, and it seems once again some of Newcastle’s in form players have been overlooked by Fabio Capello. Now I know the Joey Barton for England debate has been raised before and seemingly the player’s shady past has hindered his chances of adding to his one and only England cap.

I must say this grinds my gears. Yes we know that Joey is no angel, but if we are going on a player’s form then how many English players have been more consistent than him this season? If we take an in depth look at the current England squad, just how many of them can you call role models anyway?

Captain John Terry for starters, serial shagger, cheat and homewrecker. Hardly setting a good example, but he’s in the squad because he’s a quality player and an excellent leader. Ashley Cole, not only likes cheating on his wife but also has taken up a hobby dicking around with guns and shooting people accidently. Wayne Rooney, the hooker enthusiast, Steven Gerrard the DJ assaulter. You get the idea.

It’s not just Joey who I feel sorry for, Danny Simpson has been excellent this season and fully deserves a cap in my opinion. What about Kevin Nolan? He has his critics, but 11 goals this season from midfield tells it’s own story.

In Joey’s case would it be different if he hadn’t got the background that he does? If so all you have to do is look at members of the current England squad who are considered indispensable, but have had their problems. Jack Wilshere as well, apparently spat a taxi driver merely for supporting Spurs. So how can these players be deemed innocent?

Just why do Newcastle players get overlooked by the England coach? There are four Aston Villa players in the squad and they are a club who have performed worse than us this season. James Milner, who isn’t a regular starter at City (although he did start today) made the cut too. Dirty, Boyzone loving, money chasing, promise breaking, twatty haired Judas Andy Carroll is amongst the strikers and Fabio did select him before when he was with us, so he cant be entirely anti-Newcastle.

Maybe Fabio saw our shambolic display against Stoke yesterday and thought wow, what a load of pony. But one thing is for sure, if I was Joey Barton especially, the I would feel slightly hard done by.

What do you think?

  1. Milner doesn’t even get into City’s team, I think he’s played about twice in the last month so surely Barton should be ahead of him. Regarding Simpson, if Kyle Walker deserves a chance then surely Simpson does.

At the end of the day though it benefits us πŸ˜†

  2. Barton and Nolan should have been involved if players like Milner are, not sure about Simpson mind you. I dont think hes good enough yet.

  4. I havn’t really seen enough of Walker to judge him, to be honest I don’t have time for International football really could not care less, dunno why they even get paid it should just be a privilege.

  5. Just look at Bale when he was a left back for Spurs he was sh*t, moved him further up so he doesnt have to defend as much and he becomes a different player.

  6. I don’t think Barton will ever play for England again regardless of his form and while Nolan has been good for us I don’t think he or Simpson for that matter are good enough for England……mind I don’t think half the current England team are good enough either.
    …….And welcome back Mark.

  9. Pretty glad none of our players are in england atm anyway, just more chance of injuries. Its unfair, but if we can push on next year and avoid the relegation tag then we’ll probably get some call ups. In the most negative way of looking at it..it could help us if Jarvis gets injured for example, and mean that wolves might drop points against us and others..i’d prefer to avoid that happening to our own players.

  10. Newkie, that’s exactly what I was thinking as soon as I seen Jarvis in the squad; Just get injured for our game 😈

  12. I was going to see maybe Best will ‘accidentally’ injure Doyle in training for Ireland as well but then I remembered he’s injured…

Maybe Best is ‘injured’ so he he doesn’t go and link up with the Irish squad πŸ™„

  13. Welcome back Mark.

I agree entirely with this article and it’s one of the reasons why I just simply don’t give a toss about England at the minute.

  14. Sorry to disagree but Simpson is lucky to be playing in our team never mind pushing for a England squad place. England are very short of right backs but Simpson isn’t the answer.

  15. Smart. I’ve got some turds to polish that night so I won’t be able to watch it.

Mind you, polishing turds is just like watching England. No doubt we’ll be set for “Euro glory” if we beat Wales πŸ™„

  18. ” y would these players give there all if they are not part of the future of nufc”….er because they are proffesionals and they should be playing for themselves, the club and the fans not Ashley and if that is indeed why they aren’t performing then they can f*ck off!

  19. More fool them if that’s what they are trying. Surely they’ll know that won’t work πŸ˜†

  20. I hope they get them cos they deserve them mate, but they should still be giving their all regardless or they’d be no better than the Duff’s and Owens of the world.

  21. All those who believed selling Cazza was the right thing to do then if he’s not worth Β£35m, team spirit is!
It’s a complete gamble that we stay up. It’s gonna cost more than Β£35m if we go down.
