Twitter gossip…. One winger and one keeper to join?

We all love a bit of gossip, well I know I do anyway, especially when it comes to NUFC!

I’m fully aware that most of it is complete tosh, but I still can’t keep away from it. Like a fat kid in cake shop (I’m ready for the jokes!), I get drawn to it and just have to have a look and a good old chinwag about it. So basically I’ve found a bit of gossip for us all to deliberate over. Many of you will remember the name cwarr07, but if you don’t he is the infamous Twitter chap who gave a lot of people the heads up on certain deals with regard to transfers in and out at NUFC.

Now I’ll be the first to say that I’m always sceptical, but to be fair to whoever it is he called the permanent transfer of Hatem Ben Arfa before it happened as well as the Stephen Ireland loan deal and confirmed the Andy Carroll transfer before it happened. Now I’m not saying he is constantly right, but he has called a few specific deals right.

Anyway, my point is that he has opened up again and has posted this (below) on his Twitter account today. Make of it what you will, but to me there is one name that screams out to me there,
and that is Kieron Westwood from Coventry.

If that is the case then quite what it means for our other goalkeepers will remain to be seen. Forster to Celtic maybe? We’ve been linked with Westwood before so perhaps it’s just me putting two and two together and coming up with five? Westwood is out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to be offered a new deal due to the current troubles at Coventry City.

As for the winger, pass. I’ve no doubt that Seb Larsson will be mentioned as he is out of contract although I was under the impression that no deal could be discussed between two clubs in the same FA until one month before the current deal is due to expire? Mind you, it would be a bit naive to disregard anyone talking to anyone else in a ‘hush hush’ kind of arrangement. Let’s face it, it happens.

So what do you make of it? Just more random gossip or is there something more to it?

    Thats if he still has it as I heard he swapped it for a case of beer and a kebab

  3. I kind of understand why we would be after Westwood actually if it’s true.

    Firstly, I think Pardew will totally stamp his own ideas on the club in the summer and no position will be ‘off bounds’ if he thinks he could get a great deal for a player. No matter how much we believe the keeper position is no go. Pardew has brought his own ideas and I don’t think he has much care about what previous regimes have done.

    I DO think Krul and Forster are good shot stoppers and both have a future at the top level but I think even their biggest supporters would have to admit neither would be ready to be our first choice next season. It is not so much their shot stopping but kicking, decision making and lack of experience that makes them not quite ready IMHO.

    Harper has been a great servant and at times is a good steady head at the back but if we are being completely honest is he really that great. And is he what Pardew wants to build for the future and his potential 5 year contract, (Harper is now 36)

    Ok so that is the keepers we are talking about that are potentially no.1 next season…. Keiren Westwood is 26 and the current ROI goalkeeper. I must admit I havn’t seen much of him at all to be honest but he seems to be quite good by all accounts.

    Anyway what I’m trying to say is that, should we have this sentiment and kind of engrained psyche that ‘we are well stocked and couldn’t improve’ in an area. Im suggesting we probably could and we should be open minded about it.

  27. What has Andy Carroll done since his last cap to get picked tonight? Move to Liverpool?

    Kevin Nolan should be a first choice for England at the moment, since he has ate and shyt the combined seasons for Lampard and Gerrard so far.

    Then against, he plays north of Manchester so I guess he doesn’t exist.

    He is an international, he is free, he is in the age range and we are proven to be interested considering we bid in January.

  52. Larsson’s demands wouldn’t be an issue in the summer as we won’t have to pay £1.5m to sign him in the first place. The transfer money would go to boosting any sign on he wants.
