Jonas and Colo aim for some Argie-bargy at Blackpool.

Colo and Jonas talk about Blackpool.
Newcastle will have to play well tomorrow and roll up their collective sleeves at Blackpool if they are to take all three points at Bloomfield Road.

That’s the consensus of two of our three amigos anyway as Fabricio Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez both issued rallying calls ahead of a match which could cement Newcastle’s current position in the top half of the Premier League table. However Blackpool need the points themselves and will be trying their hardest to get them at our expense so our lads will need to be prepared for what they are going to throw at us.

“We know what position they are in. They want to take the three points to get out of that position. If we can’t win, we have to take a point,” said Jonas when quizzed by The Chronicle ahead of the trip to the West coast.

Jonas continued: “If we take a point from Blackpool then we are happy – it’s going to be enough from the day. That’s important.”

“If they only take one point, it’s bad for them, and if they lose they are in more trouble. For us, if we take a point it’s still the same points difference as before the game.”

Then Coloccini, who has been our best defender this season in my opinion, had his say on the clash with Blackpool. Again speaking to The Chronicle, Colo said:

“Blackpool will be tough enough. But we feel we have the right tools in the box to come away with a good victory here”

“They are fighting for their lives at the bottom and they will be doing everything they can to stop us. It’s up to us to take the game to them like we did with Man United, and hopefully we will have enough to win the game.”

This is the right attitude to be showing of course. Cautiously optimistic. It will require good performances all round the pitch, but if we can get that then we have enough to beat Blackpool. It’s not a guarantee of course, but the potential for a win is certainly there.

Both of these lads have been key players for us this season. Colo is Colo and we know what to expect from him nowadays. Jonas can still frustrate, but I still think the team is far better with him included at the moment. Hopefully the pair can help build on the great midweek 0-0 draw with Manchester United.

You can catch the build up to the match, the match itself, reaction aswell as a bit of me speaking to Arsenal legend Ian Wright on the radio all here on NUFC Blog tomorrow.

Hopefully we’ll have another good result to talk about!

  1. Play both, Ranger can bring it under control and PL can put it away for him 😉 ……and my right one’s my favourite 😆

  2. I’d go for Ireland playing off ranger, ranger can bring Nolan and Ireland into the game I think.
