Game on! Blackpool v Newcastle.

Stop this man. Stop Blackpool.
It’s ‘Game On’ again as Newcastle take on Blackpool at their humble Bloomfield Road ground.

Sentiment should pretty low on the agenda as the media darlings of the moment struggle to stave off relegation. No end of tired cliche sayings have been trotted out this season. ‘Living the dream’ and ‘little old Blackpool’ are a couple that immediately spring to mind. Newcastle must rise above that this afternoon however and should be focussed on shattering the tangerine dream a little bit more in this 3pm kick-off.

Not a lot has changed with with regard to team news since I wrote the match preview yesterday, and you can see the proper team news at the very bottom of this article as and when it becomes available.

The match will not be broadcast live here in the UK, but a fair few overseas channels seem to be broadcasting it so I live in hope for a decent and reliable stream. Once again, if you stumble across one then don’t be shy and share it with the rest of us. We’re all in it together remember.

The away end is sold out as all 2,100 tickets got snapped up by Toon fans eager to make the most of the Easter break, although I’d guess that there will be quite a few more in and around Blackpool enjoying the game and the atmosphere around the town. Hopefully the lads can pull out a result to make the trip just that bit better.

So that’s about it really, and it really is Game On!

  1. Bollocks how the commentators can go Blackpool deserve to win on that penalty and then say they’re goal probably didn’t cross the line. just STFU.

  2. a point will do, but this is typical Newcastle. We play good and fight against man u, and then cant be arsed to show up next week at blaclpool. MOM Timmy Krul.

  3. Richie @ 297 – Agreed.

I’m unsure why people started thinking this would be an easy game 😕

  4. Well, all things considered, Blackpool was always gonna be the proverbial banana peel, so I’m satisfied with a draw. I feel as positive as I can that safety is assured. Looking forward to the summer now, and hopefully the introduction of some guys like Gervinho, Larsson, and maybe the likes of Taye Taiwo. HWTL

  5. Blackpool attack atack attack and will always create a sh!tload of chances, they’re down the bottom because they can’t defend at all….unfortunately you need to but their defence under presure for that to happen, we didn’t……but hey we played **** and still got the point, could have been so much worse 😉

Nobody said it would be easy, but I think we were entitled to expect a better performance against a team that had only won 1 in 13 games.

  7. Now let’s aim to beat Liverpool then, considering is our norm to do well against top clubs.

  8. Blackpool weren’t gonna keep playing utter sh1te even though they did give us a goal, we also gifted theirs. Its typical they’d started playing better by the time we got round to em, but I’ll take the point, was never gonna be a walkover and I’m happy with a draw that secures us.

  9. Having said all that I think to be on 41 points with the players and squad we have is a great achievment.

  10. Aye Stuart …. this summer and next season will be the real indicator of which direction we’re heading, forwards or backwards the choice is Ashley’s 😕

  11. The choice isn’t all Ashleys Richietoon…I know what you mean but the manager has to buy well in the transfer market & the players have to perform…

  12. True witters, but the quality of his targets may depend on How far Ashley is willing to back him in the transfer market, but as you say Pardew and also Carr need to do their jobs well too.

  13. It was one of those performances we have thrown in too many times away from home this season.
Forget the result the performance was poor. There was no link between defence/midfield/attack. It was like eleven individuals

  14. Anyone watching the football focus stuff? 3 stonewall penalties according to Holloway and 2 according to some of these “experts.” What a load of bollocks

  15. I don’t know what happened to our midfield today. I was thinking we looked better with Guthrie in the middle than we did with Nolan, but at the same time, I feel like Nolan’s undroppable because of his goals.

  16. I agree wi Dave earlier, Holloway was funny at first, now he gets reet on my tits 👿

  17. Agreed, he’s a propper whiney **** now, he had some good metaphors but now he’s worse than Wenger

  18. He’s like me, I can be funny when it’s all going well….at the mo I’m just a **** 😉

  20. Well well well. After the way they were fighting I think it was a good point coz we deserved nothing. Funny how when your down there things shots come back off the post and it just doesn’t go for you. Gutted the mackems won but at least it keeps the bullet dodgers Wigan down there and hopefully Wet Spam will get a good pasting off Chelski now. Liverpool away next, oh joy.
