Is Jose close to staying?

Jose may not be on his way!
Jose Enrique has been speaking to the local press today, which is a rare occurrence these days after the Spaniard was kept away from the media spotlight due to the situation regarding his contract.

As yet, talks are still yet to get underway but it was thought that Enrique wanted to see signs of ambition and improvement in the playing staff over the summer before he committed to a new deal. Don’t we all!

This lead to widespread speculation regarding the future of the player who, if you listen to Phil Thompson or the gutter press, is on his way to Liverpool in the summer.

However his comments today seem to suggest that he could yet stay at Newcastle. Whilst remaining coy on any talk of a new deal Enrique was keen to paint a bright picture of the current squad and recognises that things could have been much better had we not had to contend with a lengthly injury list for a large part of the season.

“We’ll see what happens next year and which players come to us,” Enrique told The Chronicle. “We have a great squad here though, and we have been very unlucky with injuries. Next season we will hopefully get new players and try to build on a top-10 finish.”

The Spaniard continued: “To finish in the top 10 is important this season and it would be very nice for us to finish ahead of Sunderland.”

“I remember they were happy to see us go down, but now we are in Premier League and we have been better than them so far – it’s important we keep going.”

It certainly seems from his words that Jose is thinking of staying for next season at least as there is a lot of talk “we” and “next season” involved. It is of course his right to stay as he still has one year remaining on his current deal, but the ultimate aim should be to ensure that we can sign up him up for longer.

I’m still not convinced either way to be honest. My gut feeling is that Jose will be away in the summer, but there is at least still some hope of keeping him at the club. Only time will tell I guess.

If he goes, he goes. A left-back is not vitally important to a team although it does of course help things if you have a good one like Jose. If he stays it will be a massive boost to club and to the fans who adore and chant his name on a regular basis and will show that the club mean what they said when they claimed they wanted to keep hold of their better players. Where they failed with Andy Carroll perhaps they’ll succeed with Jose?

Once again, we’ll have to wait and see.

  1. I don’t mind Ed generally, his blog is his blog, he goes on his own deal and doesn’t offend anyone, I still read it. I just get fed up with Seb Larsson being the new Jesus.

That and Craigcoozy has vanished and he was the only one who had real information on transfers that came true. People noticed and then stole his name and it became impossible to keep up though.

We should try and get him on here so we can get the news.

  2. Oh do you mean when he closed down when promotion wasn’t assured? In that case I don’t actually know who it was 😕

  3. We think a good article would be Ameobi’s penalty taking skills for the famous Newcastle United Club. 😉

  4. I think I got drove off Ed’s blog and Worky’s blog due to offending people too.

I don’t get the aggression towards me, I am nice.

  5. I think I made my feelings about Ed’s blog perfectly clear the other week 👿

FJ, I remember that Craig, everyone was commenting just waiting for him to come on 😆

  6. He went on holiday for like two month and said his brother would carry it on, he did like two articles…

  7. Craigcoozy was genuine though, he called Ben Arfa and Tiote and some other stuff. This was before those twitter geeks appeared and started spamming so many rumours that one had to come true.

I remember he posted Ben Arfa was in Newcastle and then about 5 hours later, that pic of Ben Arfa’s warped head in Newcastle airport popped up.

We need the Coozmeister on here.

    Evening all 😆

  9. FJ, the amount of questions he’d get asked after just one comment was crazy, I felt sorry for him at times 😆

    Areet Dave 🙂

  10. According to the “fair play” league table we’re “the most disrespectful to opponents” team-what the f*ck is that supposed to mean seriously? I guess we can rule out ever qualifying through fair play with Tiote in our squad, doesn’t matter anyway as we’ll be in the CL in a year or two 😀 😀

  11. Lpool scoring within a minute 😯 Still, good for us if we want top 10 i guess

  12. Let’s campaing Coozy to get him on here so we can be the home of transfer gossip.

NewkieBrown, maybe its the fact we have one of the worst card counts in the entire league, lol.

  13. What is the deal with Liverpool now?

Meireles and Maxi hadn’t scored for Liverpool at all and now Kenny is there, they have about 32 goals between them.

      (Quote)

  14. Funky-nah theres a separate thing for that, the final score is calculated on stuff like yellows and reds, but also on “respect to opponents” and respect to the refs, and also on the performance of the officials or some boll0cks? And somehow Chelsea top the list…show’s what sh1te it is really.

      (Quote)

  15. Maybe is Tiote’s fetish for yellow cards and Barton’s polite physical and verbal request to Fernando Torres to pleasure him after the match?

Not to mention Colo and Taylor elbowing people and Williamson headbutting Elmander, lol.

We don’t have the nicest squad at the moment

  16. FJ one of the CC’s comes on here only under a different name I can assure you they all know jack **** 😆 😉
    Richie @ 94 ❓

      (Quote)

  17. True, but even so its not like we have Karl henry and Cattermole clearly attempting to end peoples careers with their tackles. How many people have we actually injured seriously this year, or even put out for treatment? Can’t name a single one. Ah well, tis all **** anyway

      (Quote)

  18. The most interesting thing for me tonight is the performance of that Flanagan at left back. Hopefully he has a stormer which means they don’t need a left back anymore

    3-0 in 15 minutes 😕

      (Quote)

  19. Aye toonsy, they have flanagan who’s looked good anyway, but they also have Kelly who’s played brilliant whenever I’ve seen him…I just can’t see why they’d even need Enrique..

  20. well ime back if just for a while, heeds still giving me jip, have been trying but couldnt get on thought site was down, had to do with reading another site 😉 but 3 comments a day bye bloggers doesnt take long to get through 😀
would not worry about jose/jonas partership,as i say jonas will go which will get the wage bill down thats view of it anyway.

batty says jose will stay he got that of richie

      (Quote)

  21. Flanagan at LB is showing the benefit of having faith in a youth player and giving him a run in the team. Through neccessity, which is often how it happens, but Him and Spearing look good players

      (Quote)

  22. Not to mention they want to sign BIG players for a lot of money, so any savings they can make bringing reserves players up and home grown ones at that, I’d imagine they will go for it.

Then again, would you prefer Enrique or Flanagan at left back?

      (Quote)

  23. Toonsy I think ice is having trouble getting on here ❓ as I was talking to him just before @ 87 and he said he is still not good but that he tried to get on a couple of times and couldn’t and that he would be on for 5 – 10 mins so I can only imagine he still cant get on, but i will try to get intouch with him again

      (Quote)

  24. Dave – Strange 😕

I think he has my e maill addy. Get him to drop me a line if he can

      (Quote)

  25. FJ – Flanagan, because it would free up 7 mill or so for players who can really influence a game 😉

      (Quote)

  26. I guess the talk of Enrique for £5m plus Jay Spearing was rubbish then since Spearing signed a new contract this week.

I was gonna say £5m plus Fabio Aurelio since he is a good left back with a rocket of a left foot but then I realised he hasn’t played a full game since about 2003. He left in the summer, then Hodgson re-signed him straight back for more wages.

    lol

      (Quote)

  27. RAFFO aye the lad is class mate and judas is the perfect foil too,
but ime hopeing dogleash stuffs the job up,like he does normally, thing is he has clarke this time to pull him out of the ****

      (Quote)

  28. I’m still not sure Dogleash is calling the shots on transfers tbh. I think that Comolli is the one.

  29. DAVE knew i could count on you to watch my back m8 while i was off,lot of knife-throwers aboot 😉

  30. Ice – Aye I would love nothing more, and for Judas to fail, but he has them playing like world beaters. I just dont get what his secret is. Woy cant have been that bad, look what he is doing with WBrum?

      (Quote)

  31. If or when the bindippers come calling for Jose, ask for £5m+ and Flanagan, simple 😀

Oh, i forgot we are talking about the famous Newcastle United Club. The deal will probably be £3m + Konchesky 👿 👿 👿

      (Quote)

  32. Big Dave, there was a rumour a week or two ago that Spearing would be a tag along with a few million for Enrique to go to Liverpool. He recently signed a new deal so that seems dead.

toonsy, I have posted previously on how Comolli is Newcastle’s stalker. The guy has tried to mug Newcastle since he got that job at Tottenham, it’s so blatent. I almost think Newcastle have a mole that leak information to him or something, it’s that drastic.

I wish he’d just ****** off and mug some other team for once.

      (Quote)

  33. Comolli mugged the famous Newcastle Club of Woodgate, Modric and I believe Bassong 👿

      (Quote)

  34. Well I have already said who are Liverpool’s 3 main targets and they have been given the money to do it. Agreed by Dalglish, Comolli and the board. Just depends on the other clubs accepting, which Liverpool believe they will.

      (Quote)

  35. as much as hate to say it l/pool will finish well, but next season when they get beat 2/3 times kenny will push his nose in and stuff it up plus his “gloss” will have gone by then imo

      (Quote)

  36. Ice – Hopefully 😈

The media ******** Dalglish is getting at the minute is cringeworthy 😕

  38. Ice i’ll watch your back mate I had to tell richie off, 👿 remember Toonsy was getting bad heeds and eyes there for a while because he was choking the chicken to much ??? well I think Richie was trying to say the same about you but I put him right 😉

  39. raffo,

    Charlie Adam
    Ashley Young
    Jose Enrique

    Sounds obvious I know…

The goal is to sign these 3 and that will take them into top 4. They expect 25 million should be enough for all three but will spend more if need be.

They also have a youth player they got from QPR which will be slowly introduced this season, supposed to be mint…forgot his name though 😕

      (Quote)

  40. Raheem Stirling I think it is.

He scored 5 goals in a reserve game and then played in the Europa League the night after or something I think.

He was 14 and playing professional I think or something ridiculous like that.

      (Quote)

  41. lol, you said that in the most sinister way possible.

  43. Moreno,
Meanwhile back at the famous Newcastle United Club, our top targets are:

    Carlton Cole (Free)
Seb (Ed’s love child) Larsson (Free)
    Stephen Ireland (circa 6m)
    👿 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿 👿

      (Quote)

  44. I imagine the plan is Charlie Adam to fill the Xavi Alonso role of assaulting people in the middle and then spraying the ball about like a quarterback.

I also imagine Ashley Young would let Dirk Kuyt play as a real striker instead of flipping from the wing to up front.

It’s all sensible moves really. I hate Liverpool.

      (Quote)

  45. Moreno – amazing film. Its a metaphor, but that actually happened though!

TGS – We arent going for C Cole, and I hope to god we dont get Larsson-Harrison. Ireland would be fine, but another reason I dont go on the other 2 blogs is all the negativity. I cant take it ne more

      (Quote)

  46. Raffo – I seriously believe Gerrard could be off in the summer. Someone like Man City or Chelsea will be looking for a statement signing and Liverpool do fine without him anyway now. Plus they have a man in charge who the fans will allow to seel the family silveware, and lower wages, and bring in loads of dollar in the process 😉

      (Quote)

  47. Good points about Kelly being even better than this Flanagan kid. Why would they push for another left back when they have plenty that are capable and really didn’t cost them that much in the first place?

It really doesn’t make sense. Just like when we get linked with keepers all the time. We don’t exactly need any, so why waste the money on someone who will only be a little better

      (Quote)

  48. toonsy, I think you might be right. Gerrard doesn’t fit into this Liverpool team anymore and they aren’t exactly missing him. Gerrard lost his bargaining chip when Torres left.

Not to mention this is the last window, in my opinion, for Gerrard to go for any real big money. His age won’t allow a big move anymore.

      (Quote)

  49. When you look at Man Utd, they win trophies as they could replace their starting 11 with another starting 11. You have so many options to turn to (like playing Schalke in Champs League you rest players for Chelsea prem league decider) They don’t just have a best 11 who they play every week and aren’t scared to drop/rest players at whim.

      (Quote)

  50. I think Gerrard would do well at Real or Inter. I cant see him moving to anyone else in the league. I think its been coming, but he wont want to move now they are looking like moving up again when the last 3 seasons he has had the chance to go
