Branislav Ivanovic gave Chelsea the lead before Jonas Gutierrez deflected a Ryan Taylor free-kick past Petr Cech to level the scores.

Alex gave the home side the lead again seven minutes from time before Steven Taylor popped up in stoppage time to nod home and grab a deserved share of the points from a ground where we traditionally struggle.

  1. DJG – Raylor was part of the team I agree, but I don’t agree with the two assists.

For one it was Nile Ranger who headed the ball across fro Steven Taylor. Ranger touched it last which makes it his assist. Check the rules 😉

As for the free kick, can that really be classed as an assist? 😕

He played and did alright, but he was by no means the best player on the pitch and by no mean deserves to be mentioned more than any of the others…..

But it’s ok becuase I know you are deperate to try and prove some form of point to me even though I’ll never listen to anything anyone say about Raylor. The sooner he is shipped out the better 😀

  3. well u are a bunch of tossers coz with out Raylor today it would have been 2-1 or 2-0 FACT. 😉

  5. ‘DJG – Raylor was part of the team I agree, but I don’t agree with the two assists.’

The first goal bounced in off Jonas from his direct freekick and the second was headed back across goal and put in from his corner. Your right toonsy it wasn’t an assist. 🙄 FFS both the goals came from him one or two touches down the line.

  6. Pardew said: “I’m a big fan of Didier’s. I don’t think I’ll entice him to the north-east. I think it’s a bit cold for Didier at this stage of his career. Foreign players come to these shores and some set the example for others to follow.
“He’s done that at Chelsea, and he’ll probably continue to do that for one or two years still.”

  12. Great result today. I was thinking, “Same old, same old” when Krul misjudged Lampard’s floater and Alex scored. However, I should have known better. This team don’t quit and we got a deserved draw.

I read earlier someone criticising King Colo. The guy is immense! He has made a few errors recently but it’s been pure misfortune that almost all have been punished with goals. Yes, he fell asleep for Chelsea’s first, but it was like the 2nd min FFS! Aside from that he was awesome and made crucial interception after crucial interception. I hope he signs a new contract and become a Geordie legend as he has been one of our top 3 managers for the last two seasons. Many said, “He’s found his level in the Championship”, well now he has proved it at Premiership level so no more excuses.

I am honestly so happy he has proven his critics wrong as i remember how much he was slated in his first season. That must have been incredibly hard to take.

…Aaanyway, enough of the Colo Love-in.

Good performance from us today. Do you know what the best thing about today was?

…We did it with a lot of players missing. It shows that NUFC aren’t about individuals. There is an ethos forming at the club and it seems everyone is buying into it. If we can end the season with a win it will cap off a fantastic season. We all expected a bumpy ride, but let’s be honest, it’s been smooth sailing. We have not been a relegation battle at ANY part of the season. We are in no position to complain.

I personally am greatly looking forward to next season. Four quality players brought in and top 10 should be our aim.

  13. Wasn’t it Drogba who advised Tiote to sign for Newcastle. Did you see him and Pardew. 🙂 I wouldn’t mind Drogba for a couple of seasons tbh if Ash could splash the wages.. 😀

  16. Army I asked you earlier where are you getting the top from ? as I got my wee lads last season from JJB and they let me keep the reciept and bring it back to get the name and No when it was confirmed that Judas got the No 9

Ice im glad to hear your feeling better. and yeah the kids done well was so happy for young Ferguson as im sure he will be a cracking player as he is from God’s Country.

  17. Didn’t see the game at all, and I’m not sure how he played in general, but Krul does seem to drop regular clangers… 🙁

All goalies go through that, and I hope that it’s all just part of the learning process, but it’s a bit worrying…

Great result today. I was thinking, “Same old, same old” when
Krul misjudged Lampard’s floater and Alex scored’.

Aye Krul messed up there like, first time I’ve critisised Krul but he misjudged that like, he could have just stayed on the line and saved it. Once he came and missed it, it was an error that looked like inexperience. I don’t want to see him do that again because I think he needs to displace Harper for the good of the club. I think he will cut out those errors though. For some reason keepers take a lot longer than outfield players to devlop. They can still make pretty simple mistakes up until the late 20’s. 🙁

  19. Djg – oh so raylor touched the ball way before the bloke who actually nodded the ball to Saylor did so it must be his assist 🙄

Why not take it back further and say it was sholas assist as he kicked off 🙄

Rules is rules, and according to those rules it wasn’t an assist. I also fail to see how raylor smashing a ball into a teammate is an assist

      (Quote)

  20. El Toro-Agreed mate! Chelsea brought on match winners like Drogba, Essien and Malouda whereas we brought on untried and untested lads like Ameobi#2, Kaz and the still young Ranger, yet our team effort was enough to keep us in the game.

Terrible effort from Chelsea for their last home game of the season-most headed down the tunnel and didn’t give their fans anything at all to cheer for after the match which says a lot about their team spirit really.

  21. just watched taylors head agen ,what a cracker 🙂 dave think your right raylors free kick was on target think he played decent today

      (Quote)

  22. Djg – as for the keepers…. Its because generally they play longer and don’t get introduced to regular first team football until they are older bar the odd exception 🙂

  23. And on that nite I’m up at half three so I’m off to bed. Worcester, Bristol and London tomorrow 😕

  24. later Toonsy…..nice of ya to warn everbody to avoid the roads in those areas 😉 😆

  25. Toonsy- Assist or not it wouldn’t have been a goal with Bartons ‘up and over’. We only got a draw because of the good team spirt, re-jigged formation and freshness. And Raylor’s good deliveries so suck your dummy back in and admit that he did a job for us today otherwise you just look rediculous to the educated followers of this site who just know better. 😉

  26. cheers RT…

I like Krul, and if he wins Pardews nod as main man next season he’ll settle down to be a great goalie…I think the mistakes will be ironed out too..

  28. Batty @ 101 your right mate it was on target, and Saylors was another bullet 😆
I just dont understand the doom and gloom around Raylor he wouldn’t be my 1st or maybe 2nd choice 😀 but atleast when he is called upon he gives it 100% everytime and no matter what anyone says he deserves a bit of credit for today 😉

      (Quote)

  29. batty…agreed mate regarding Taylors header, he still had a lot to do to get it in the net…well done that man…

  30. it shows how far we’ve come when we can get a creditable draw against the league runners up with a 2nd string team backed up by bairns… Call it a game with nowt at stake, but it was still a great result today, great for morale, well done the lads ! End the season with a home win over West Brum, finish well above the great unwashed….ya beauty !

  31. Munich..aye the Mackems have to win now, to have any chance of finishing top dogs, pity it’s West Ham they’re playing, but if we beat WBA then there’s nowt they can do about it…won’t be easy though 😕

  32. Big Dave @ 101

toonsy wouldn’t give him any credit because he wrote him off long ago. I knew better. He’s a valuable squad player, as proven today. 😉

  33. Batty there has been too many players at the Toon that dont give 100% so thats all I ask untill we are a consistant top 10 team then they will need to have more than just 100% commitment but until then that will do me 😉

Im not sure how Wet Spam will react at the mackems now they are doon,,,, they will probably spank them still. 😆 Top half finish, win against baggies and finish above the mackems would be a perfect result as far as im concerned. Come on R.Taylor lad prove Toonsy wrong, (again). 😆

  37. Djg – I said raylor did alright earlier on to be fair. That’s all I think he done – alright. Although it took until we were down to our last nine fit senior players for him to just be alright 😆

he’s not my cup of tea, end of.

  38. A brought this up on the other article, but just thought I’ll bring it up now, as some people were saying Krul should be behind Forster next season.

Got to say I’m surprised at how many people are saying Forster should be ahead of Krul next season. Krul was outstanding today, bar one mistake which cost us a goal. These things do happen but he’ll learn. Forster is a decent keeper but in terms of progress, Krul is streets ahead. Those of you saying Krul should go out on loan need to realise that Krul went out on loan to Falkirk and had virtually a full season there (just like Forster is only doing now) whilst his only conceded 32 goals in 20 Premier League games this season. Those games include matches against Liverpool, Man City, Bolton and West Brom, where we conceded 17 goals in 6 games. That leaves 15 goals in 14 games, at Premier League level. Forster needs to do that first before he can jump ahead of Krul in my opinion.

Toonsy we agree! For once! 😛

I love the one on one battle Stu79 and Stardust have yet goes unnoticed by others! It’s hilariously funny! Everyone tune in.

  41. Nah, he done the whole “I’m right” thing even though it’s my opinion. Similar to what Bobby does/did. He got ditched for it temporarily so it’s only fit and proper DJG gets the same 🙂

Plus he is a technical whizz and reckons he can get around it anyway. Now we can test his little theory 😛
