Some summer dates for your diary.

Yes, I'm aware it's out of date!
There isn’t that much going on at NUFC at the moment to be honest. Not that we can see anyway.

Sure there is plenty of speculation flying around at the moment, but that is all it is – just speculation. What we need, well what I need anyway, is something to look forward to, something to get my teeth into, something visible. So with a bit of research I’ve managed to come up with this handy little diary of dates that are kind of important to us over the summer.

The transfer window is open now. It opened yesterday in fact on the 1st June which is contrary to reports of dates ranging from 6th-9th June being the date that international transfers can begin. What is holding things up on the transfer front is the latest round of international matches which has lead to the confusion over transfer dates.

We’ve got a couple of weeks until we find out we’ll be playing Manchester United/Arsenal/Chelsea etc on the opening day of the season when the fixture list is announced. As a rule of thumb it’s usually announced in the third week of June and is usually around the 16th-17th although that will be clarified closer to the time no doubt.

Pre-season training begins again on July 4th where hopefully we’ll have a handful of new signings joining up with the squad to compliment the payers that we already have at our disposal. After a few days training it will be back to footballing action as the pre-season fixtures come into effect. For your convenience the fixtures are as follows:

Friday 15th July – Darlington (a).
Wednesday 20th July – Kansas City (a).
Saturday 23rd July – Orlando City (a).
Tuesday 26th July – Columbus Crew (a).
Sunday 31st July – Leeds (a).

As and when dates become official/more dates are available I will of course update you all. To make it easily accessable for everyone I’ll add these dates to the sidebar to the right of this article seeing as I have space now that we have no match tickets for sale.

Hopefully this article, whilst not being “newsy”, will clear up some confusion and answer some questions that will no doubt get asked in the coming weeks.

  5. Slightly off topic but seriously what’s everyone’s beef with twitter?

They’re just other people’s opinions like you would find down the pub, or at work or anywhere. Everyone’s got a mate who claims they’re in the know it’s your judgement whether you believe them or not.

Huge pinches of salt are needed when reading twitter it’s not freaking rocket science. Rant over. Phew.

  9. David I see where your coming from, I just think that the problem is some of the younger ones tend to believe some of the **** and get there hopes built up

      (Quote)

  10. @19 yeah of course that’s why you follow them, but it’s still your choice whether you believe. They could be anyone though it’s not unheard of for people to lie.

  11. I quite like Twitter. 99% of it may be bollocks but it’s all good fun and gives us something to chat about.

Twitter is this years craigcoozy 😀

  14. @22 yeah some people do get hung up on it, but why should they get jumped on by other people just cos they read something on twitter and thought, oh I hope that happens.

Let people have their opinions and let people believe what they want.

  15. I obviously like reading twitter. People over on toon-mad flip out if it’s mentioned and you’re instantly a mug if you’ve read something on it.

  16. Ice their both worth keeping an eye on and I see DJG is starting to suck up to Stardy but Stardy will eat him up and spit him out 😆

  17. David – To be fair it’s only one person on NUFC mad that really flips out. I left that Twitter thread up form him to chomp on but he logged off 😆

  18. Ice @ 29 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆
David I just think it is mostly total knobs that start it to get attention and make them feel important because they have loads of followers hanging on to everything they say.
I just hate bullshitters and Liars and I hate to see young innocent fans falling for it 👿

  23. Spencer Young Man,
I am a miserable old fart when it comes to NUFC and signings.

In 1982 it was reported that the Brazilian captain Socrates was gonna sign for the Toon as he was due to attend the famed Newcastle Medical Universitiy for his final year studying medicine.
    👿 👿
I was so fookin excited 🙁

Gervinho HAS NOT been announced as an #nufc player on L’Equipe TV. Don’t be so bloody gullible.

  27. Steve Wraith has been blocked. Apparently Ben Arfa is on 20k a week because he is still a bairn and is no ‘henry’ 🙄 😆

So much gossip about Gervinho tonight!

      (Quote)

  28. How does anyone know that Wraith is wrong?

He has just done a talk in with Barton. Have any of yous?

He might be **** on for all we know.

Do you believe theres a 25k wage cap on every single Newcastle player? Thats what Steve rekons, he also said when we sold Carroll under Ashley we will finish no higher than fourth bottom.

    The bloke is clueless.

  30. On topic of the article, I absolutely cannot wait for te game in Orlando! It’ll be my first game ever and I’m bringing a bunch of my mates to create a little rowdy section

      (Quote)

  31. Just read some of Steve Wraithys comments
great going on giving him stick lads, he’s a ball bag.
Firstly he’s begging the likes of Joey and Danny for retweets

Also he claims that Tiote and Ben Arfa are under the wage cap, but people like Smith Jonas S Taylor etc arent as their contract was sorted before
When did Saylor sign his new contract?
And why would Tiote commit to a 6 year contract?

      (Quote)

  32. TBF I dont care if there is a mental wage cap as low has he says (which there clearly isn’t)
Who even cares, even if it was 5k a week if it’s attracting the calibre of player as Tiote, Ben Arfa and the players we’ve been linked to why does it even matter

      (Quote)

  33. Axel – I like Guthrie and I think he has shown that given a little run in the side he can be a very good player for us. I think it is fair to say that he will be behind Tiote, Cabaye (if he signs 😉 ), and probably Gosling and Nolan for the CM berths, but I like him.

I think Nolan is in more danger than most depending on who we bring in, but I think Tiote and Cabaye (if he signs 😉 ) will be the 2, then HBA, hopefully Gervinho and A.N.Other behind a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Nolan wouldnt get a look in for me.

Wraith is a plum really. He reckons he was Judas’ best mate and knew all the details behind his move? Aye sure you did chum. Its all horse **** from someone who just wont accept that maybe Ashley and the club may be executing a decent plan. Theres others on here who just look for the negative in every situation regarding the club, and many many more on .org still harping on about Hoots. Aye he was that good he went straight into the jobs he went for didnt he… oh yeah thats right he hasnt. He wont get the Fulham job either.

Anyhoo, another ****$ day at work so I am ranting!

    😉
