Zog on the Tyne?

Is this man going to be back in black and white?
Today Dave Whelan confirmed that Charles N’Zogbia is looking to leave Wigan – and he’s going to let him if they get the right price!

This came about after N’Zogbia went and asked Whelan if he could leave the club.

After a good season last year N’Zogbia will be a much sought after man but I think that in his heart he has a bit of unfinished business at Newcastle, and after having a supposed bid turned down in January we must be looking to enquire once again.

Dave Whelan said this when asked about his French international winger in the Wigan Evening Post.

“There is quite a lot of interest in Zoggy. He has said to me I’ve enjoyed my time at Wigan but I want to move on to other things,”

I think that since N’Zogbia left Newcastle in January 2009 he has really matured as a character and as a footballer. He virtually carried his Wigan team last season and due to his goals they survived relegation.

N’Zogbia was far from happy at Newcastle at times, but to be honest you really can’t blame him. He was often played out of position to accommodate an average Damien Duff in his preferred position. As he was far better than Damien Duff I feel he has a right to be annoyed.

Also Joe Kinnear, the Newcastle manager at the time called him “Charles Insomnia” in interview which is just disrespectful in my opinion, and as a young Frenchman away from home he took a huff, but that’s the French way. 😉

Whelan then went on to say,

“There have been plenty of enquiries but the season is still a bit away yet and the transfer market is only just beginning to kick in. They’re all on holiday but we’ll come together in a fortnight and sort it.”

I’m sure we won’t be the only team who are looking to sign N’Zogbia, but I feel that unless a top four team comes in we may be the most attractive option. N’Zogbia has already praised the Newcastle fans over Twitter and he’s been helping persuade his friend Yohan Cabaye to sign for Newcastle. Hopefully he’ll be joining him 😉

We’ll have to fight off the likes of Sunderland, fight I know, not much of a fight but whatever. The danger is Liverpool, but with Andy “the boxer” Carroll at Liverpool I doubt he would want to move there and spend a few seasons with his mate he had a fight with in training before he left Newcastle.

So I think at the moment this may be a deal which is very possible for Newcastle, with the only possible snag in the deal is the agreeing of a fee between Mike Ashley and Dave Whelan who are not the best of friends to put it in a light way. But hopefully that can be overcome and N’Zogbia can return to St James and get fans off their feet again with goals like this…

Hopefully we’ll be hearing “Zog on the Tyne” often next season 😉

  1. Toby,

You can understand it, he obviously doesn’t rate himself highly if he isn’t willing to battle it out for his boyhood club either!

Unless there are politics involved we don’t know about, most Brighton players would be begging for a move to the toon yet he is wanting to go the other way…

  2. Local press in brighton are saying it’s a done deal, to be honest I don’t think it’s a loss, I like him and went to see him in Brighton ( I live there at the mo) he is not a prem player in my eyes much like routledge

  4. The prospect or re-signing Zoggy is keeping me awake at night, but I dare not mention the word in case it pisses him off again.

  5. Toby Le Rhone:

    @KazLuaLua is fake

Lee Ryder and The Chronicle was obviously taken in then 😯

  6. I think the Zog will be ours. In Jan we aparently bid 12 for him on deadline day. He wants to come Padrew obiestley wants him. So I take this as a definate transfer to us. Would I like to see him in Black and white. Of course I would just imagine him and Benny on the wings with Tiote and Cabaye in CM. Worldclass midfield. We then just need 1 that can put the ball in the back of the Net. So spent remaining cash on 1 or 2.

  7. @batty

What do you mean? Candle at both ends? What have I been up to that I don’t know about? 😕

  8. Just seen N’Zogbia gettin a 99 from an ice-cream truck outside the SOL,
