Sunday morning title tattle.

Moussa Sissoko: In talks with Newcastle and Liverpool?
So it’s Sunday again and whether or not we trust the various rags we are all guilty of going straight to the back pages to see if there’s any transfer news involving Newcastle.

Newcastle have been linked with all kinds of players in recent months, which is to be expected since it’s public knowledge that the club have £35 million sitting pretty from the Carroll sale in January. So who are we being linked with this weekend according to the press?

Charles N’zogbia– The Charlie link is one that has been following us for weeks. The former Mag has reportedly stated he’s desire to return to St James’ Park and join the new look French revolution at the club. Charles has been outstanding in a poor team for the past couple of seasons and certainly isn’t short of admirers. Sunderland and Liverpool are also after the winger. The Sunday Sun is reporting Wigan want £9 million for the player who would demand £60k a week in wages.

Neil Taylor– Neil is another player that Newcastle have been strongly linked with over the past few weeks. It has been claimed on multiple occasions that this one was a done deal. The promising young left back apparently has a £1 million release clause in his contract at Swansea and Newcastle were said to be willing to trigger that clause. The Mirror though is reporting today that Swansea are now demanding £10 million for the Welsh international, with the paper claiming that Neil make take legal action in order to seal his move to Newcastle.

Stephen Ireland – Newcastle are said to be interested in bringing Ireland back to Tyneside next season. The player endured a frustrating loan period at Newcastle last season, an ill fated loan move that saw the player injured for nearly the entirety of his time up North. However it’s been said that the coaching staff saw enough ability and potential in Stephen and the player himself would welcome a move to Newcastle.
A senior Newcastle source told the Sunday Sun:
“Nothing is imminent with Stephen, but it is not one to write off just yet.
“He might not have played but he was unlucky with injuries and his attitude and work-rate while he was here were absolutely first class.
“He was finished at Villa under Gerard Houllier but a new manager might change things for him.
“He would like to come back but it depends on Villa now.
“I think Stephen is one that we’ll keep an eye on with a view to maybe ‘nicking him’ at the end of the window
.”

Darron Gibson– Newcastle are ready to move for the long term Sunderland target according to The Mirror. Gibson is merely a fringe player at Manchester United and is willing to move on to further his career. The fee being suggested is £5 million which sounds a bit high to me, he’s only 23 and has the potential to develop but in my opinion the player is nothing more than mediocre.

Moussa Sissoko– The Toulouse striker is said to be in talks with two English clubs- Newcastle and Liverpool but also has plenty of interest abroad too. The player has been impressive and is tipped for a big move this window, the player has two years remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 side. With the caliber of the teams interested in Moussa’s services it would be a real coup if Newcastle could fight off other interest and sign this lad. We are short of French lads after all  .

Keith Treacy– Apparently if we fail in our pursuit of Zoggy we will turn our attentions to a cheaper and somewhat underwhelming alternative. Keith Treacy who plays his football at Preston is said to be drumming up interest from several Championship clubs…….and us. Keith is a left sided winger who has already represented The Republic of Ireland.

Ryad Boudebouz– Newcastle find themselves linked with the Sochaux midfielder once again, but like many of our other current targets Liverpool are also interested in the player. The Sunday Sun believes the player is set to join the latter and play his football at Anfield next season. Let’s hope he ‘fails a medical’ and maybe we can swoop in  😆 .

So that’s what some of the back pages were saying this morning. With Newcastle already having a busy and productive window the rumors will inevitably continue. I won’t ever get excited until I see a player holding up a black and white shirt at St James’ Park, but footy gossip is always fun.

What do you lot make of today’s title tattle?

  1. Anyone hear anything about Tottenham terminating the contracts of Alan Hutton and Seb Bassong? Just read it on Ed’s blog and wondered if it was something doing the rounds.

I’d take Bassong back and Alan Hutton could be our right winger. He isn’t a good defender so as a RB, he isn’t great but his attacking play is more devastating than any right winger we currently have.

For free transfers, I’d take them in a heartbeat….. if it’s true.

  2. Well Arry has been told to sell before he can buy ,their is a couple of spurs players i would like us to move for Bassong and Kranjar .

  3. I wouldn’t take Bassong back, he’s a jinx and a miserable [email protected] who believes he is better than he actually is.
He hasn’t been released for no reason.
    next.

  4. I wasn’t sure. Don’t know much about him to be honest 🙂 got a season ticket yet mark? 😎

  5. Good article that [email protected]

The more I read about the fella the more I hope we get the deal done as quick as possible!

  6. So if we fail to get Nzogbia we’ll go for Treacy? Fck me! That cannot be true, because if it is all my optimism will be drained.

  7. Keith Treacy is a winger for PNE – in League 1.

Why can’t we go for Jason Puncheon if we are going that cheap? Not expensive and proved last season he can play well in the Premiership as he got a few goals/assists for Blackpool.

He’d be far better than Treacy.

  8. Goes to show that theres often a reason why a player isn’t scoring goals, not just that they are shyte 👿
I think he can be good for us, but like all transfers, its a gamble.
More likely to happen than sturridge tho imo.

  9. Treacy won’t happen. It’s just a wild stab in the dark from a desperate Sunday rag. They know it will cause controversy as NUFC fans are all too quick to jump on the owners’ back. Ignore that rumour…In fact, ignore most of them. Don’t see any of the above materialising apart from Taylor.

Ha! No surprises there then. Saying that, it was kind of obvious when he also said Inter and Liverpool were also interested in him. 🙄

  11. If Ben Arfa can stay fit we will at least be entertained. Next season is all about keeping these crocks fit. Do that and we should do well.

  12. i think we should forget about sturridge and focus on erdic and then maybe a Long or Puncheon for up front.

we still need someone for the right side?

  13. Barton on the right is alright, but he constantly cuts inside and pushes it out to the left.
I just think its time to balance the attack and not be so predictable.

  14. Anyone Watching WWC:Germany Vs.Canada Now?!!

    GREAT ENTERTAINING MATCH. 😳 😯

Even better than some men football. 😆

  15. Barton will be away and he isn’t a right winger. I want us to play 4-2-3-1 and negate the need for wingers, or put jonas on RW if needed.

Interesting that w spam can’t afford Parkers wages. Listening to talk sport last week it’s emerged that they have taken out a loan to cover nolans wages. How much sense does that make?they are gambling big time they come back first time of asking.

I like the sissoko link, again points to a change in formation.

Skipper – well could go for saylor as the long serving good player but I would hope we get a better cb to play with collo. My choice would be tiote. Skipper needs to play every game and contribute every game which tiote will. I’d also love Ireland to come back and he is also possible skipper material. Wouldn’t suprise me to see a swap with Ireland and Barton.

  16. couple of rags saying pardew may have to lower his sites,as ashley has cut the budget on players, that rumour i could belive 🙁

  17. Now we’re being linked with a host of central midfielders and more left wingers again.

It’s a good right winger that we need, Routledge and Barton I doubt will be around much longer and wern’t really suitable anyway.

      (Quote)

  18. that sounds good jay jay but you need to tell Pardew.
Im sure i will feel better about it after i see them play their pre-season games and the regular season gets started.

      (Quote)

  19. Sturridge has a crap attitude. He thinks far too highly of himself. Like a slightly less boligerant, English version of Mario botelli

      (Quote)

  20. Barton needs to be able to play in the center where e is much more lethal. That is if we actually keep him, which I doubt.

And Stephen Ireland would be a god-awful choice for captain for any team! He has no desire, passion, or sense of authority. He still has the mindset of a lost little boy. Way too many issues

      (Quote)

  21. What’s crap about his attitude, he wants to play so he’s got a better attitute than some of our strikers from days gone by.

      (Quote)

  22. dont wont anything 2 do with ex united players…couldnt get rid off them and cost us big in wages butt crap got us relegated..and smith worst buy in newcastle histry..english players never leave..they always stay on and run down their contracts..only after money ie nolan..stay well clear of gibson garbage footballer…we wont be paying good money 2 sit on the bench..ashley has got wise on english garbage..

  23. Ibrahim “Teteh” Bangura scored his eighth goal in twelve games tonight for his current team AIK, and Mohamed Bangura who also plays for AIK is a huge talent aswell. Im telling you.. We should seriously consider picking these guys up since they arent going to cost us more than £1.5-2.5m each and they are young… born 1989.

Really an impressive pair of Sierra Leone internationals, (although not brothers), currently shredding the opponents in the Swedish league.
