Kazenga, or not Kazenga?

Does he have a future at the club?
After returning to Newcastle following two loan spells at Brighton & Hove Albion, our D.R Congo star looks like he could have a promising future at the Toon if he is given the chance.

The big question is whether he’ll have a future at Newcastle as Kaz has been strongly linked with a return to Brighton on a permanent deal. Why permanent though?

In his 11 games at Albion he managed to find the back of the net four times, and gained many assists, which has ensured he is definitely regarded as a key man when starring for Brighton.

After signing for Newcastle at the start of the 2007/2008 season, Kazenga had not had many opportunities to shine. However after a few loan spells; one at Doncaster and two at Brighton, he has shown dedication and passion to improve his game.

He came on as a substitute against West Brom, which was the last game of the season after returning to Tyneside. And I have to say, credit where credit’s due, he put in a good shift and looked bright and comfortable on the ball.

I believe Kazenga could play a key role in our squad in years to come, and we should try our utmost to keep him at St. James’ Park.

If he is at Newcastle this season, he could play an important utility role, as he can play on the right, and the left side of midfield. He also has the ability to start games in the Premier League, and should be considered for clashes against less challenging opposition, and all cup games.

There are many other young stars emerging from the ranks, such as Phil Airey and Shane Ferguson. These players are showing great skill for such a young age, and fans can only have praise for the youngsters.

But back to the main point of the article, should we keep Lualua? I have gave my two cents on the matter, but unfortunately the decision isn’t down to me.

So what do you think we should do with the Congolese international?

  1. Good player, but I think it’s a numbers game with Kazenga. We’ve been heavily linked with Zog and Barnetta. If either signs, we awould have 4 pure wingers in the squad- Jonas, Marveaux, Fergie, and Zog/Barnetta Not sure where he’d play in the next 2-3 seasons. He needs more than the reserves. Another loan would be ideal, but at some point a player gets sick of that and wants a permanent player.

  2. He has a knack of running in to a dead end, trying to beat too many players etc. and his delivery is below average at best. I can’t see him getting any better than he currently is. he’s another Wayne Routledge

  3. Once again I see the club being made to look complete twats by Sunderland.

They sign Whickham for £8m and we haven’t spent a penny yet!

Doesn’t he fit our criteria? Sure he does, the difference is that he’s too expensive at £8m! Fckin joke! They’ll doublee their money on him.

Once again I’ll say, our business model isn’t to bring in young player, its to bring in young cheap players.

    Utter fcking shambles!

  4. Stuart, he wanted first team football week in week out, why else would he choose Sunderland over his boyhood team Liverpool?

I for one wouldn’t be prepared to give that to a 18-year old who scored a handful of goals in 40 games.

  5. Agreed Dan- I doubt the lad would start for us. i tend to take the optimistic view (yes, i guess i am crazy) that we have our eyes on bigger fish.

  8. kazenga has not had a real opportunity. he gets ten minutes here 15 minutes there and people on here can come along and make a career judgement. some guys are wasting their time sitting posting blogs when they can spot a footballer. clubs would pay a fortune for guys with that talent.
Give him a chance i do not know if he is good enough but be patient and give the lad some decent game time

  9. Marveaux, yeah he looks a real prospect Abeid, that’s expected to be confirmed on Friday as well.

But we didn’t pay anything for him so people won’t like it 🙄

  10. The lads reconised as one of the best young players in the country, the reason we didn’t buy him is because he’s £8m! Sad!

8 league goals in the championship and £8m rising to £12m dont make me laugh id rather we’d had a punt on Graham for the £3m that swansea paid…

      (Quote)

  13. CC, spot on about Graham, if we had of signed Graham/Long people would moan that we’re signing Championship players….

  16. i have watched kazenga in the reserves and in the first team and i belive that the lad should be given the chance he seems to have the talent and commitment to go far its about time that we gave the youth a chance if they are good enough which this kid is
this could only be good for the team in the long term as the likes of man utd and arsenal seem to find some good talent in there youth teams lets just hope we can find more rough diamonds and tern them into stars

  20. I would not sell him but I would loan him out to Brighton again this year. Brighton now moved up to the championship and Kaz will get a better test than last year. We can even compare him to Wickham on championship form , and if he gets 18+ goals in the 46 game season he will obviously be worth £15m this time next year.

  21. Ave it federer, bellend!! what a match 😀

On Kaz-definitely keep him and loan him out to brighton imo, along with Ranger if they fancy him..

      (Quote)

  22. I agree with sidekick. I think loan him out again. Lets see what he can do in the championship. He did ok for us in the last two games, but its hardly enough to judge him by. Why get rid of him so young?

  23. Afternoon lads!

Howay the football. Growin’ up in the States makes you used to forgetting about “football” season for several months (most of the year to be exact), but now that I’ve converted to proper football, the short two months I have to wait without any real action is just patently unacceptable lol! 😆

At least the USA lasses are doin’ well in the girls’ world cup 😛

  24. An american calling football football. A great sight to see, persuade as many others as you can OHurley! 😆

  25. Newkie-

Believe it or not, most of us ower here that watch the sport actually DO call it football. We call it soccer to those not “in the know”, but it’s football to us. It IS, afterall, a game played almost entirely with the feet lol 😆

  26. And speaking of football, can’t wait to see the lads actually play over here!! Less than a month!! WOOHOO

But then I am a Brighton fan.
Dan4toon at 20 is probably right, I remember my Geordie pals being upset cos Keegan had signed some striker from lower league Bristol City for stupid money, Andy Cole.

  33. Sell him to Brighton but Pardew won’t cos he is ex Palace and hates Brighton! He’s a good player but not Premiership – we want him at Brighton tell Pardew please!

      (Quote)

  34. john- I watched Tavernier play for Gateshead, and he was terrible. However he played well for the reserves against Blyth, but who couldn’t play well against Blyth?
