Capello’s double-standards about Joey Barton!

Fabio Capello speaks about Barton.
Like most of you, I’ve read the comments from Fabio Capello about our current No7 Joey Barton. To be honest they’ve really pissed me off.

This morning saw quotes from Capello suggesting that Barton is good enough for England, but how it’s unlikely that he will pick him for the national side thanks to his ‘hot-headed’ nature. Is it just me that finds the irony in this statement outstanding?

First off I guess we need to take a look at what was said by Postman Pat, who incidentally has still not been to see any players at St James’ Park and sends his minions up here to do the dirty work for him. Why not? The art of delegation is key in management, and at £6 million a year in wages he has a lot of delegation to get through. Anyway, this is what he said:

“He is a good player but he is a dangerous player because sometimes you could end up playing 10 v 11. He might get sent off,” Capello said in the Guardian.

Asked if he was worried Barton’s “head might go”, Pat said: “Yes. But this is not a good moment to decide something about him. When a player is fighting with his club, it is normal to stay outside. The relationship between a club and a player is really important.”

Now Barton may get sent off, but other players may also get sent off. It’s interesting to see that Jack Wilshere has been sent off more times than Joey Barton had been at the same age. No worries over the alleged woman-beater no?

I also find it amusing that Capello cites one of the reasons for not picking Barton is because his “head might go”. I’m assuming this is not a concern for the notoriously short-tempered Wayne Rooney? Double-standards again?

At this point people will point out Barton’s chequered past and use it as a stick to beat him with. It wouldn’t be so bad, or so hypocritical, if Capello didn’t have a team full of players with previous transgressions.

First off we have John Terry with his philandering ways and private tours of club property. Then Rio with his “missed” drugs test, Gerrard and the nightclub incident, Wilshere and his alleged woman beating, Andy Carroll is no shrinking violet either. Oh and don’t forget Rooney and his penchant for the OAP side of vice.

The hypocrisy is outstanding and just about sums up why I have zero time for the current England national setup which, as a proud Englishman, is something that is horrible to say.

It was all supposed to change after our dismal World Cup last year, but it’s blatantly obvious that old habits die hard when it comes to Capello and his band of *****. For Joey’s sake, recent Twitter outbursts aside, I hope he continues doing what he is doing and continues to put the pressure on the England setup through his performances on the field of play.

Unfortunately though I feel that he is pissing against the wind with Postman Pat and Co.

…doesn’t make Capello and England any better mind. His assessment of Joey is about the only thing he’s said that makes any sense.

    WTF

  4. Sorry for not letting things go but I’ve been away from the blog for a few hours and won’t let Toonsy off the hook for his venomous attitude ;

    Copied and pasted from last thread;

    @toonsy

It’s your venom towards Wraith I don’t understand. Why are you so abusive?
And I dont accept the poor excuse that it gets a reaction out of me.
If I heard something more than an opinion from Steve Wraith then I could understand.
But in general, not to the letter, he says and campaigns for many of the issues that many of us do.

I don’t get your venomous stance. Can you explain yourself or are you going to get defensive and threaten me with a ban?

  8. Let’s be honest. Is Joey good enough for England? Well it’s a sad day for the English national team if he is.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good English premiership player, certainly on the fringes but only in a crisis, but again it’s a sad reflection on the standard of our English players.

However, Barton is more than that for NUFC .
He knows the passion of the fans, he’s been through relegation, been to prison whilst playing for us and come through it. He’s more than just Joey Barton footballer. He’s fought to prove himself again and knows what relegation means.

He spoke out at half time at the Leeds game because he saw things which resembled the relegation side.

I believe Pardew purposefully relegated him from set pieces to annoy him in order to provoke further twitter outbursts. This gave the club the excuse to put him up for a freebie.

The club are happy to move Barton on for nothing this season. It’s £65k off the wage bill and a the removal of a disgruntled player who was never going to leave until his contract ran down.

If they ever thought that Barton would leave this window then they would have never provoked him.

They know Enrique is leaving for a substantial fee, and know he won’t run his contract down. Hence no free transfer for the same misdemeanour as Barton.

The whole thing stinks and I’m surprised many of you can’t see it. Yet again, I’m not surprised actually. 😯

  9. The thing is, bobby, wraith doesn’t communicate with the board, he attacks them immediately, not allowing them any more to communicate back. He doesnt help at all. He gets in the way

I am defending SW for one reason only. I agree with his stance and the venomous posts are pathetic.

As far as I can see, SW is campaigning for the same thing that many of us want.
Offer the club for sale at a realistic price and if no one comes in then we have to accept it. But at this moment intime, Ashley hasn’t done that.

Give me an example where the venomous abuse is justified?

I believe Pardew purposefully relegated him from set pieces to annoy him in order to provoke further twitter outbursts. This gave the club the excuse to put him up for a freebie, surely the manager has to try diff players to see what they can do,whats the use of haveing only one player that can do certain things sorry dont buy that bit

  13. or Barton could have been relegated from taking free kicks because possibly… Cabaye is better at them. Crazy thought.

  14. @AndrewT

Dont get me wrong but Ashley only has to do his homework a tad to realise any single supporters type of takeover or progressive consortium hates Ashley with a passion.

Do you think SW doesn’t realise that?
Do you think MA doesn’t realise that?

    Come on fella, wake up.

SW is open and honest and hides nothing. All he wants is two opposites to meet in the middle. He will be open with MA that he despises his ownership, doesn’t want to be his buddy, understands his difficulties but wants to give the fans an opportunity to air their views.

Your problem with that is, MA might be upset by this? Get real, wake up and start dealing with reality. It’s about putting pressure on him to change his penny pinching.

If it works slightly and Shola gets a pay rise then it’s a bonus ! Only jokin. 😛

Seriously, it’s all about making MA realising we aren’t happy. Are you really? 😕

      (Quote)

  15. we really need something else to talk about tomorrow. I guess Obertan’s signing will provoke some stuff from the club about how Pardew plans on using him. But there needs to be something else.

I’ll guess we’ll all be throwing out our own ideas for the best XI against Arsenal. Praise the Lord that the season is finally starting soon!

  16. @witters

Let’s stick with my husband who beats me relentless! He might change or I might end up alone or with someone worse!

Get a grip. Are you a battered house husband? 😯

      (Quote)

  17. Then wake up to reality, Bobby! MA is an **** that will just kick people out of the room, or walk out himself if **** just gets thrown at him in any sort of meeting. No progress will be made with this board if they are attacked and insulted from the other side. If anything good is supposed to come out of these supposed meetings, then the other side has to be at least somewhat apologetic towards Ashley, or at least give him a chance to spout his ****.

This *** will take a patient hand. A very patient hand. And Wraith definitely does not have that.

Try something else. Wraith has not and will not work.

      (Quote)

  18. @witters

That chicken farmers theory is ****.

Yes, it could happen. However, the chances are that NUFC being in excess of £140m, a 52k stadium, 52k fans, huge merchandise potential won’t attract the same chicken farmers who bought Blackburn for £25m!

    Don’t be that naive.

      (Quote)

  19. BSn9 you say offer the club for sale at a realistic price…
    please elaborate on that.
Are you suggesting that he takes a big hit and sells at a loss? seriously?

      (Quote)

  20. @andrewT

I’m certain SW believes it won’t work. It’s all about keeping the pressure on him.

    What’s your alternative?

I can only ever see one alternative and that’s enough cash to get all his investment back.

My hope is he gets sick of the hassle and therefore puts it up for sale at the Market value.

That’s what SW wants and I want.

No problem if you want something different but expect us to clash in the future if you do.

      (Quote)

  21. I believe the club could be for sale at market value, lets just say £140M, but the interest free debt will have to be paid up too. Thats what say, £150M. ? I think thats enough to scare off any suitors.

      (Quote)

  22. Or wraith’s antics can lead MA to pull a Wigan and do enough to just keep us up year on year. Success is not what he cares about. Just Premier League money.

      (Quote)

  23. But Ashley doesn’t beat me up…I wont let him so no I’m not a battered ‘husband’. I’m aware that what I think isn’t really going to influence the club & therefore dont get too stressed about it.

If people believe that Ashley selling the club is the best way forward, fine that’s their opinion & are entitled to lobby the club on that basis. I’m not convinced by SW methods, there’s no way they’d communicate with him as he’s obviously very anti-Ashley.

On the flip side any group that are able to form a relationship would need to be fairly vanilla in their stance towards the club or a little bit more professional/able to criticise without offending. This would no doubt lead to accusations of being puppets & a lack of credibility. You’ve got a catch 22 situation for me.

      (Quote)

  24. Also there’s this ego thing going on too.
Ashley doesn’t want to be seen as having failed at high stakes fantasy football manager. Wont look good on the old cv dont you know.

So Unfortunatly I dont think ANY supporters group will be able to exert enough pressure on ashley to make him sell up, or infact do anything he doesn’t want to.

Now an empty stadium, is a different matter. Or if we didn’t buy season tkts on 10yr deals might make him think on. perhaps ❓

      (Quote)

  25. @BB

    Where have you been?

I’ve said this a thousand times. Yes!

He jumped into buying the club at FFS expense whilst he was on his death bed with pneumonia and could not fight the takeover. That is the sole reason he did not conduct due diligence.

His fault he did not realise the club had £100m loans, however half of that was for the stadium construction.

I can totally understand if he bought a personal commodity like a car, house or boat but he actually bought a north east institution that affects millions, yes millions of people’s lives worldwide on a weekly basis.

He is still a billionaire and should accept that he has bit more off than he can chew through greed.

All I ask and many others is, put the club up for sale at the Market value and not try and rip the eyes out of potential buyers which he has done in the past like the now man city owners.

If he does and no buyers are there then we have to accept that and get behind him.
Until then the fight rages on for NUFC to see it’s full potential.

    What’s your view BB?

      (Quote)

  26. @dimpleboy

Sorry for ignoring you but I was aghast by the rubbish BB, witters and Andrew T were spouting.

It was on the Newcastle v fiorentina game thread. Yesterday.

      (Quote)

  27. Well I’m sorry, but no way in hell can I see him selling up and righting off £150M of cash. He just isn’t that desperate enough to get out of town.
Especially now that he has worked out how to just keep us up in the lower reaches of the prem, while also making enough money to keep us solvent year on year. I’m quite certain that gives him a modicum of pleasure too, in a strange kind of way. Kind of a right back at you, for all the hatred coming in his direction.

      (Quote)

  28. Bobby – what rubbish have I spouted? I merely asked you a question.
Do you have to be so arrogant ❓

  30. @BB

Don’t try and come across all nicey nicey now ! You snarled when you asked me the question! 😡
😛 so what’s your answer to my response about Ashley/Wraith? 😕

      (Quote)

  31. I sometimes hear the argument we should just sit by and say nothing. We should just bide our time because Ashley has this plan to make us profitable. He wants to wipe out the debt and then he’ll leave cos he can sell the club at a reasonable price.

I just want to know why those who favour this course of action think Ashley will definitely leave under those circumstances. I mean let’s say he gets the club making a profit of £40m and can pay the debt off in a few years. Why would he then leave- he can make a profit with minimal effort on his part?
He obviously only cares about the football to the extent that it makes money or he would have showed some ambition with the surplus we have from selling Carroll etc. Why would he take on the extra burden and risk involved if he isn’t really interested in the first place?

      (Quote)

  36. Do I agree with you about whether selling the club is the best way forward? I dunno…depends on who it’s sold to hence my reference to Indian chicken pluckers, selling the club is not a guarantee that Newcastle will achieve it’s potential.

      (Quote)

  37. I told you already. You just dont listen.
I think you are in cuckoo land if you think anything you Mr Wraith or any other fan group does will sicken him sufficiently enough to sell the club at a loss.
Are you so dim that you cant see that he has made that crystal clear already. It doesn’t matter if it takes 5 yrs, 10 or more. He is on a mission to make money out of NUFC, and he doesn’t intend to fail.
    And thats just my opinion.
You call yourself a realist. I think actually you are just a deluded dreamer.

I don’t think there is anyone on this site that doesn’t realise that financially, we had to curtail our spending drastically.

We keep going back to the same point however. He had a 5 year plan and was to spend £20m per year maximum.

We are in our 5th year now and we have made £40m on players !

    That should equate to £60m!

None of us wants to see the old days of throwing cash to mercenaries but to see us having bought 1 players for £4m and 2 free transfers with a week to go before the season starts beggars belief.

Excuse after excuse has been spouted and it has worn so thin now that jack spratt hasn’t got a look in!

I hate people with your attitude . Nobody achieves anything with hearts like yours and it’s the passionate, strong and winners that the losers like you claim success on the back of. 😛

What is my attitude Bobby. All I’ve done is state facts as I see them.
Never said its right or wrong. Just the way it looks to me.
But you just carry on in your own little deluded world convincing yourself that Ashley will one day walk away from £150M.
Just to remind you. His share value has been slashed by over £200M in the recent stock market falls. I’m sure that will convince him to cut his losses at NUFC.
Wooo Hooo. Wakey wakey *******. time to smell the coffee

  43. Bobby, answer truthfully. What is your actual connection to Wraith? At least once a month you come on here defending his honor in a manner that is very strange for a non-relative/mate.

      (Quote)

  44. You may have a point about that illfated trip Bobby. But I can assure you that there is no person going to be splashing nearly quater of a billion sterling on a football club any time soon. Is nufc club worth 250million? No? Has Mike Ashley the right to try and get as much back of his investment as he can? Yes. Regardless of him not doing due dillegence he has a right to try get that money back somehow. He must think by making the club self sufficent and waht not its the best way. And in all fairness to him he is a self made billionaire so Im sure he knows a thing or two about business. But if your so unhappy with the ownrship of the club and can see its true potential why dont you buy it?

      (Quote)

  45. Ha Ha the honourable thing. you ****.

    Although…….go on then
