Enrique set for Liverpool medical ahead of £6 million move.

Enrique the red?
Jose Enrique is set to have a medical at Liverpool later on today ahead if you believe what David Craig’s “sources” say on Sky Sports News.

To be honest I take the **** out of Craig but there is more than likely something in it.

I mean it’s hardly been a big secret that Jose was looking for a way out of Newcastle, and Liverpool have been rumoured to be interested in him right from the start.

Being realistic, with only a year left on his contract there was always a strong chance of him leaving so I’ve been prepared for it for a long time now anyway, as have a lot of us. It’s not the bolt from the blue that the sale of Andy Carroll was.

This is just an update by the way. I was just watching Sky Sports News and Goofy David happened to be on sharing the news so I thought I’d share it with you. There will of course be more reaction and news as and when, or indeed if, anything develops further.

Adios Jose, maybe?

“Toonsy is that the same peeps that think Ashley should just right off £150M debt and sell the club on for a realistic price”

    Yes. The same ones

  2. According to Lee Ryder, the Pieters release clause is between 8-10m Euros. 10m Euros comes up to, what, almost 9m pounds?

Is the kid worth that, I wonder? Is this considered an upgrade or a replacement?

  3. Army – gotcha mate. My bad. I thought your “Bollix!!!” comment was a sign of dissappointment on your behalf re the signing of Erik the great 😆

  4. 8-10M Euro’s 😯 😯
If that went thru then I fear the club would be getting accused of showing some anbition. So cant be true then. Wont be happening. Just another smoke screen etc etc etc

  5. FSotc….time will tell(if we get him)….but bear in mind Jose would have gone for more if he wasn’t in his final year, also Pieters is an international Jose isn’t(yet)

  6. Also, he’s a 22 year old full dutch int’l.(starts I believe). And you would get him on a 5 year deal. To me, it’s worth sorting that position. The few on here who have seen him regularly really rate him.

  7. Stuart…says done deal, I believe him, he rarely makes statements like that and when he has he’s been right as far as I remember 😉

  8. Also, he won’t be on crazy wages coming from the dutch league. definately fit the profile.

no confirmation yet, but it’s everywhere, like has been the case right before the other signings, plus Stu seems to have had a bit of info

  9. I heard Pieters had a release clause which ment he could come for nowt? whenever a price is involved I assume we’ll bail out..

    @Jay
Agreed, I love the way L’pool are handing stupid money to KD as if he’s the only saviour in town, smacks up there with us and lord KK, hopefully it goes tits-up like it did with us..

I posted that theory 2 threads ago without having a source. It’s obvious.

As obvious as the Liverpool deal was done and dusted several months ago. 🙄

  12. CC… Re your comment on last thread.

I was thinking it was time for Bobby’s bare @rse in Fenwicks window given his prediction that Enrique will go last day of the window appears flawed to say the least but he’ll have some half hearted excuse to get out of it 😀

    Probably hasn’t got an @rse 😆 😆

  13. Shame we couldn’t have started a bidding war for Enrique. The fact no-one of any quality is in for him at 6 million speaks volumes

I agree with this, although I expect Stuart will get a dressing down from Bobby for not conforming to the T&C’s of carriage on the reality train 😆

  18. Just joshing Bobster, although I am in a state of shock after reading that both you and Stuart are more confident than I am about us having a replacement lined up for Jose 😯

    I need a lie down….

  19. even if we sign a new l/b can we belive he would be thrown in for sat without even training with team mates,a bit harch like as they say medicals take two days now unless pardew tells him to play it simple, simple against the gunners dont think so 😐

If you recall I first predicted Enriques certain departure, along with Nolans and Bartons back in February.
I did initially say the Enrique deal was done and dusted back in January when the Carroll deal was sorted.
I said at the time that he would leave on the final day of the window so as not to allow time for the Toon to get a replacement and run with Ferguson as his replacement.

I was reminded immediately that the window closed almost a month after the season starts so I revised my prediction to just before the arsenal game as Liverpool will want him settled in before the first game.

Whoever they bring in it will be a poor version of Enrique that is for sure.

Bobby is never wrong and the reality train keeps on rolling. 😛

  22. In true anorak fashion, I have a list of our current squad in a folder on my desktop. We have 7 defenders (with Enrique gone), 19 midfielders/wingers and 6 strikers (including Xisco and Airey). Talk of Rangers wanting Lovenkrands, Hibs wanting Airey, Valencia wanting Coloccini…

…we’d be mad to let any defenders or strikers go until we’re sorted! Would love us to sign Bendtner, despite other Toon fan’s criticisms!

How can you be certain of that?

Enrique for me was the dogs bollocks but I trust Carr going off some of his sightings already, tiote, benny etc.
Anyway Enrique was away end of last season, shame we didnt match his ambitions.

  24. Yes Booby you’re such an oracle on all things NUFC.

or should that be ********, as you speak utter bollix most of the time

  27. It’s sad to see Jose go, but I can’t be bothered to get angry about it.

The optimist in me thinks this Pieters deal will be signed at the same time so we’re sorted going forward. Good business by the sounds of it if that’s the case.

(If it’s not the case then I will worry, at least for the first match, with Fergie out)

Ta-ta Jose; try to get your head back on track, because it feels a bit like you’re believing your own hype.

Oh, and unless Liverpool have upped their revenues considerably, I’m not even sure they’ll be allowed into European competition if they do get the required league position. They MUST be spending beyond their means; surely?

  30. Why is everyone so surprised that FCB is selling Jose (at a loss) to Lpool. He can now pocket another £6M & get Carr to find another Freebie. We’ve always got Perch!! When Colo goes to Valencia at a £5M loss we play 3 at the back, 6 in midfield and one up front against Arsenal.
    Team
    Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Taylor(S)
Midfield Jonas, Taylor (R), Barton (unless he goes to Stoke), Cabaye, Tiote, Obertan
    Loan Striker Ba
Then further changes next week when Jonas, Lovenkrands & Barton depart. Smudger could figure then as Captain!

  31. For some reason this transfer doesnt affect me (even though he has been our best player for the last 2 seasons)

Was always on the cards, hoping for a decent replacement

  32. Have to think the club have Pieters lined up to sell Enrique 2 days before the first game of the season. Otherwise why not wait till the end of the transfer window? It makes no sense otherwise.

If we do get Pieters I will be happy. A younger LB who has 10 games for Holland and can be a future call-up partner for Krul. Good move by the club if true and like I say can’t see what the point would be of agreeing a fee for Enrique at this time unless a deal was 90% in place, keep the faith lads.

I have no honour i am a money grabbing Liar, but i will be with my friend Judas in the city of thieves

glad we are shot of him.

Let us get a new left back sorted otherwise I will have to take my boots to the match and at 57 I am a bit slower. 😀

  34. Wonder if the replacement plan now springing into action is being masterminded by the same individuals who have been trying to replace Carroll since January.
£35m plus £4.5 for Nolan plus £2m for Routledge plus £6m for Jose and savings of over £300m in wages.
Lovely jubbly. Natives restless but think what’s been banked -so far.

Lets mention names: You can all tell us about how we are close on Gervinho, Erdinc, Menez, M’Bengue and Gameiro. In fact why not all start creating team sheets with all our favourite names on.
