London calling for Simo?

QPR interested.
It’s fair to say this transfer has been a nervy and frustrating one for Newcastle fans. I have said a million times that a transfer window can be a time of either excitement or dread, depending on which team you support.

We heard the hierarchy promise that the Β£35 million we gained from selling Andy Carroll would be made available to Alan Pardew this summer. We were told that the money was going to be reinvested into the PLAYING staff. Of course since then we have been fed crap about the money being used in other areas of the club.

Our worse fears and gut feelings about Mike Ashley’s intent for this window have been confirmed up to this point. Not only haven’t we splashed the cash, but also been informed that we must sell before buying. For various reasoning this window has seen us lose Kevin Nolan, Jose Enrique and Wayne Routledge so far.

I’m very much of the opinion that players are replaceable and in football there is little time to mourn and dwell over departures. I can live with players leaving the club, as long as they are replaced. This is a task that seems to overwhelm, baffle and confuse Ashley and co as they struggle to replace the one and only left back we had at the club.

My point being with the money we have available and with outgoing players that need replacing we should surely be looking forward to who we could be bringing in during the next two weeks? Not for me, I just count down nervously the days until the window closes and I can concentrate on football again. I’m skeptical about bringing in a quality left back and striker and I’m more worried about who else may leave.

Today has been very quiet for transfer news as far as new arrivals go. However Sky Sports News have this afternoon reported that Premier League new boys QPR are preparing a bid for United right back Danny Simpson. It has been documented that contract talks between Danny and Newcastle have failed to materialize and reportedly any discussions have broken down.

Danny was a solid performer in The Championship during our promotion season and had his moments last season too. Simo was tipped for a England call up last season and although he didn’t make a Capello squad, the mere fact he was in contention shows his performances were being noticed. I have got to be honest though England do lack options in that position and young players like Danny should be very aware of that.

It has been suggested that Neil Warnock- QPR boss and village idiot is preparing a bid for the former Manchester United defender and will test test Newcastle’s resolve to keep the player. QPR have just completed a takeover of the club and the new man in charge is ready to splash the cash. The clubs ambitious bid for West Ham’s Scott Parker shows they are ready to compete for players in the market.

Personally I’d be sad to see Danny go, but he is very replaceable. It’s just unfortunate that if the lad was sold he probably wouldn’t be replaced. I must stress at the moment this story appears to be in very early stages and as far as I know the clubs haven’t even made contact yet. What do you think?

  1. I agree 100% with your last two sentences.

If the money offered is good enough, I think he will be sold and we will be fed more lies in the form of promises.

I also think that the other clubs know that if a good offer is made that fatty is very likely to accept it. I still think Tiote will be away if I’m honest.

  4. I find Pardew’s comments increasingly bizarre. This is going from bad to worse. Insulting bid of 100K to a league one club for Elliot? Bring in 2 trialists and hint that they are signings? Claim other clubs are to blame for us not being able to bring in a left back? These are the sounds of desperation. The owner has clearly lost his mind and left his supposed manager floundering for excuses. How pathetic. We are once again a laughing stock.

  6. I don’t think we’ll accept it. Simpson hasn’t been pushing for a move and seems happy here. Don’t know why he would go from starting right back at Newcastle to starting right back at QPR.

Also, we obviously wouldn’t replace him, so conversation over.

  7. Staying away is a self fulfilling proficy. He needs us to give our hard earned to get investment. IF we dont then the club loses money, not him.

And for all this we got money in from TV, sales etc so we must have Β£90million just sat somewhere, just wondered what ppl thought we paid people with? Or ran the stadium on? Air? Water from the Tyne?

Lets concentrate on stuffing the SMB’s and worry about transfers on Sept 1st

  8. “I can only reassure people that not only have we tried to secure players but we are trying to secure two players we have in the building. That process is very, very important as well.
“We’re trying to make sure this club is stronger than it was last year. As it stands, when we started the season, I’d say we’re not at that position yet. But hopefully we will be. I don’t think I need to nudge Mike any more – I’ve nudged him enough.
“Of course everybody knows we need a left-back and it is being made difficult not by us but by other clubs. We have to get over that. We have to make sure we reach an agreement with the other club which is right for them and right for us.
What do any of these statements by Pardew actually mean? Let me translate:1. We have brought in a couple of young trialists. Who knows how that will turn out
2.We’re weaker than we were last season. I have begged Ashley for reasonable transfer funds but he has refused.
    3. Other clubs are being mean to us. They have refused our derisory offers for their good players and Ashley won’t release enough funds to change that.
    Sound about right?

  9. tbh lads.. i dont know why anyone is upset…it was so obvious that he was never goin to spend a penny. makes me laugh when some fans think he would. We need to be clear on what ashley is going to do with nufc… he will never ever ever spend any money on players ever again, but will always make money every season. that is his plan. he wants to bring in cheap players that will increase in value so he can sell them. he needs several every season coming through so that profit can be gained every year. we are a complete selling club focussed purly on profit for ashley. christ, we cant even land a division two keeper without ballsing it up and getting our offer refused. what kind of what is that to do business… come in with an offer and say ‘thats it, take it or fuk off’ ??? i bet our club has zero professional friends in the footballing world due to our ‘sportsdirect’ approach to all things. of course, there will still be plenty singing his praises ffs….

  10. Rumours have been the sale of Simpson, Enrique, Nolan, Barton, Coloccini, STaylor, RTaylor, Guthrie, Guitterez, Routledge, Ranger, Best and Lovenkrands. Some were right. Most were wrong.
Pardew claims to be trying to “locate” a left back and a striker. That was not a rumour.

      (Quote)

  11. “In advance of our match against Scunthorpe, it is very disappointing that Alan Pardew has decided to make public an offer for Robbie Elliot despite assurances to the contrary that wouldn’t happen from his club officials.
“Newcastle made a written offer of Β£100,000 for Robbie on Wednesday, and made it clear that it was their final and best offer.
“The offer was rejected within minutes, and Newcastle then confirmed they no longer had an interest in the player. We have contacted the Premier League to register our concern at public statements being made by Newcastle after they withdrew their interest.”
Another quote, this time from Charlton Athletic’s Steven Kavanagh. This is how we treat other clubs and their players. This is Ashley’s attitude to other people. I’m sure Llambias has his sticky fingers in there as well. Can imagine Sir Bobby rolling over in his grave. Disgraceful. This is the attitude of a bully pure and simple.

  12. Not funny anymore? People get a f*cking grip! this is a link, QPR want him, we haven’t said we’ll sell him, we haven’t accepted a bid, he hasn’t gone.
Teams want a lot of players, doesn’t mean they get them,.

      (Quote)

  13. It is pretty sad that qpr being rumored to get one of our players puts fear into the minds and hearts of fans. we need a win this weekend cuz the attitude towards the club is getting lower as the days go by

      (Quote)

  14. Sorry, not even rumored to get; rumored to be interested! Frightful stuff.

But seriously, get a grip folks

  15. enough of the damned 35 mil missing, MA is a tight twat, and DL is an embarassing human being rants. Let’s get back to football.

I’m excited that Jonas has been recognized to be in the Argentina squad again. That can only be good news for us, even if he has to play in defense again. Perhaps Tevez & Aguero can show him some tips on consistently challenging the goal with mazy dribbles, rather than just dribbling around but not really going anywhere productive.

It’s going to be good to have options out wide this year.

      (Quote)

  16. I think it is Ashley, Llambias, and Pardew who should get a grip before this gets any further out of hand. Bring in trialists and trying to pretend they are signings? How many times has Pardew said he has tried to nudge Ashley? The Simpson rumour is only that. It is the attitude of management that stinks to high heaven. That is what I would be worried about going forward. For some reason Ashley seems to now be embarked on an all out attempt to antagonize the supporters. Who would do this at the beginning of a season in which huge changes are underway at the club in terms of personnel and with very little trust from the supporters in the first place? Surely these are new signs the man is going to attempt to cash in soon. The approach being taken is unsustainable over any extended period of time. Almost certainly Barton will also leave who is much more important to the team than Simpson.

      (Quote)

  17. ANDREWT how good is your left foot? Maybe you can be the next trialist and fight for the left back position. Would rather have Marveaux and Obertan as the wingers in a 4-5-1 with Ba up front. Either he is going to be a useful striker to us or he wasn’t worth bringing him in. He has to play to find out. Worth throwing Ameobi in there for a half if Ba is a flop again. Otherwise it would be down to Best as Peter would be no use against the mackems. I don’t think they have a great finisher either so it should be a low scoring game. I’m going for a 1-1.

      (Quote)

  18. The people who are freaking out about losing Simpson need to get a grip. It’s obviously not going to happen.

And yes, I am with every sane person in thinking that MA is being a total arsehole, and that Derek is muckin around all of our transfer business because he doesn’t know what the hell he is doing.
I’m just tired of all the banter being about them and money rather than our current team, tbh.

  19. Not long now, if we win Ashley will tell the fontman everything is ok we can cope without spending, if we don’t get a decent result then the pressure is cranked up on the lot of them, even though Pardew is the mouthpiece he will never have experienced anything like it, broken man with no credibility.

  20. Thank you G2! Let’s talk footie!

I don’t think Marv is quite ready to start a game, especially this one. It will be good to have Jonas in tomorrow for several reasons: tracks back, never stops, knows the club after 3 years, needs to prove himself as a starter now.

Eventually though, I could see Marveaux pushing Jonas to the side if he proves to be the player he has been hyped up to be. We’ll see on that one.

    And unfortunately, I’m right-footed.

  21. I think Mike Ashley bitterly, bitterly, bitterly regrets the day he got involved with NUFC. It’s been a massive headache for him since the appointment of Dennis Wise and the subsequent spat with Kevin Keegan, not to say a drain on his pocket-money. He has become a mercenary who loathes the fans even more than they loathe him. A marriage made in Sunderland.

Prove it ain’t so Michael. Sign us a decent replacement for Enrique. Sign us a decent replacement for Carroll. Stop making Pardew come across as a squawking idiot-puppet. Let your heart bleed a little for the club and for the Geordie nation. Life is worth more than squeezing every last cent out of every last dollar- for crying out loud!

  22. AndrewT > It’s obviously not going to happen.
What makes you so sure it wont happen mate, because I would say it would be a foolish man to try to say that we wont cash in IF qpr do table a decent bid. So I really dont see how you can be so sure πŸ˜‰
As for the negativity around the club I dont like it either and I would rather be looking forward to tomorrows game and the rest of the season ahead, But I have a real bad feeling about this season and tbh it would mean fuk all to me to hammer the mackems 10 -0 if we struggle for the rest of the season πŸ˜•

      (Quote)

  23. No problem ANDREWT, you can try out for right back instead! Newcastle will be happy to give you a trial as long as you pay your own way over. And can you bring a cheap young goalie with you please? We have an opening for one now. The game tomorrow should be intense. Sunderland will clearly attack down their right flank all day long. That tends to be their strong side anyway. I look for a lot of balls kicked out of bounds by Raylor. Thank god they don’t have Bent anymore.

  24. Have to agree PAUL IN HOLLYWOOD. What a strange way to pull your coals out of the fire though. He is only making things worse. Talk about poking a wasp nest with a stick. What does he expect is going to happen? Weakening the team at several key positions will not get him a better sale price, nor will it bring him in more supporters. The lack of understanding of the situation by Ashley just staggers me.

  25. simpson would be no great loss if we bought another rightback, oh were have i heard that before, our great club has become a laughing stock the cockney puppet said we would have a left back and a centre forward signed in time to face the mackems ashley just sell up and do us all a favour

  26. I find the mention of Simpson and England in the same artical a joke.
Anyone in the Gallogate or Leazers can see positionally he is clueless, constantly wanders out of position .And don’t get me started on his Jockeying /Hold up play,RUNNING BACKWARD πŸ‘Ώ πŸ‘Ώ πŸ‘Ώ
NO great loss. But it would come as no surprise ala the Shola conrtact πŸ™„ πŸ™„

good question if you look at all the back four we have no quality replacements in the squad perch williamson are championship players at best raylor better in midfield no left back at all colo and saylor the best we have and ferguson in my opinion is a better option on the left wing

  28. Nothing story that creates more angry fans and negative feeling. We all know what this mob are like but we still wind ourselves up time and time again. If u are that angry, don’t put your money in to the club. I’m fuckin sick of grown blokes crying about “the money WE were promised”. Fuckin get a grip man.

If we really want rid of Ashley, we’ll have to wait till he’s recouped as much money as he feels fit.only then will he leave. We can’t have it both ways
