Nolan’s “love affair” with Newcastle continues.

Peaches and Herb - Reunited?
First off I guess I’d like to say that the headline is wrong. The love affair with Newcastle is over, but it seems that Nolan’s love affair with Newcastle players is still as strong as ever.

I’ve personally never forgiven Nolan for telling Andy Carroll how fantastic a move to Liverpool would be and then appearing on their TV channel shortly after the move telling them how great he is and so on. Quite simply as a Captain of a football club he failed in his duty. In my opinion he should have been trying to keep hold of him rather than ushering him out the door. I feel he got away with that one lightly.

Of course Carroll has gone and he was followed by Nolan himself earlier on in the summer much to the dismay of some. I heard cries of “we’ll miss his influence” as we watched Nolan kissing his new West Ham badge, but when the only real “influence” he had since Christmas (before Carroll was sold/forced out/whatever) is over a move away from the club for a local lad then you have to question whether we’ll really miss his “influence” at all.

Look, I don’t want to rip Nolan to shreds. Quite frankly I could be here for a while doing that as there is a lot of him to rip to shreds, but it’s worth remembering that he got us some important goals and helped us get back into the Premier League. For that he should be thanked.

The thanks end there though.

Seemingly not intent with having a hand in persuading Andy Carroll to move he has now switched his attention to Joey Barton – a firm fan favourite – which is odd considering just how much Nolan claims to value the fans at NUFC.

We’ve heard how Joey would be great for West Ham, how they are a huge club, how Joey could look after Nolan. Looking at the size of the contract Nolan has signed – a contract Nolan is not actually worth in my opinion – I’d say that he is quite capable of looking after himself.

At a time when tapping up seems to be a hot topic we appear to be on the end of much the same treatment. Funny that eh?

Nolan should keep his gob shut and keep his nose out business that is no longer anything to do with him. What on earth gives him the right to talk about players at other clubs? Sure they are mates, but there is a professional boundary which Nolan is overstepping as he sets about continuing to reveal his true personality. Me, me, me.

I just don’t get what Nolan is up to. He got the contract he wanted, he’s had a moan and a whinge about the club after he went so why carry on? Perhaps he should focus in pulling his finger out for West Ham because I’ve been watching him and at this current moment in time I have to say that we are missing absolutely nothing at all.

What do you make of Nolan’s antics?

  1. Whey Judas is probably calling Nolan alll the c@nts under the sun, he wont last 3 years at Liverpool imo, as for Joey, he’s got a bit more pride than to drop doon a league I’d have thought. 👿

  2. I agree but i never seen the interview so the question may have been would you like barton at west ham with you?

      (Quote)

  3. Agree, Nolan needs to publicly keep out of the Barton saga but if the club are intent on releasing him, its inevitable that he will go.
I saw this comment on the letters page of Truefaith and i thought, funny but true take on Ashleys plan for the club.

“His secret plans(if he has any), seem to mainly consist of falling headfirst into a pile of ***** and coming up smelling of roses.”

  4. Rorycn…to which he should have replied “yes” instead of …”He said: ‘I came here so can’t see why Joey wouldn’t. It’s a massive club. He’s probably looking for an escape’.
‘He knows Sam and I are here and what we’re about. I’ll look after him, he’ll look after me’ 👿

  5. Rich – Exactly. Don’t forget the “he’s been poorly treated” malarkey. The very last player anyone should say that about is Joey Barton after the two and a half years of prison and injuries.

  6. Batty.. 😉 😆

Toonsy….I love it just love it, RTG was keeping me amused while I had skysports radio on last night….hope they don’t sack him yet though 😆

  7. When you hear commentary like this, you can be sure he is just talking up his own cause.
Think about it. He has seen some really good players coming in to Newcastle, so that he won’t really be missed. He has seen some strong results in the first two games, including a derby victory without him. He’s beginning to wonder whether he made the right move when he threw his toys out of the pram, when he could still have been a part of it for another couple of years (at least).
So what does he do? Try to make himself feel good by talking down Newcastle and talking up his own move. He would love it if Joey followed – not because he’s mates with Joey nor because it will help the Hammers cause. He’ll be delighted because he’ll be able to tell himself he made the right move instead of the doubts creeping in.

Hey Nolan – you made your bed – now lie on it.

  8. Spite. He’s no more than a disssssspicable, spitefull binscratching scouse git. forget him, he’s gone and good riddance. I reckon we have as good if not better on the books now. Anyone join me in thinking that the Fulham game could just be another Aston Villa from last season. nobody saw it coming and I just have a strange feeling. Good luck on thursday boys. HWTL.

  9. I think the Fulham game will show us more than the last two games in truth. Getting up for Arsenal and Sunderland is easy enough, but no disrespect to Fulham, getting up for these types of teams is where we fell over last season IMO.

      (Quote)

  10. Agree Toonsy….the teams at our level are the ones we need to be beating at home, Fulham are a decent side but even a draw at home is no good for me.

  13. Agree with the general Nolan comments, however, the “tapping up” of Barton is incorrect … NUFC have made Barton available on a FREE transfer; how can he be poaching him if MA wants him out?

Spot on with Nolan in general though; another money grabbing bast**d who said he loves the club … to coin another scousers famous saying “My ****”

  14. 2 week international break after the Fulham game so it would be good to get a good performance and win on Sunday, heard a bit of the Fulham commentary on Sunday v Wolves and it sounds as if they are a tired and injured team at the moment due to early involvement in the Europa League and they have another leg tomorrow night.

  15. I thought we would get 4 points out of the first three matches. Losing against **** (wrong), drawing against Sunder (wrong) and winning against Fulham (Right…hopefully). If we can start the season with 7 points I would be very very happy. Nolan can get fakted.

      (Quote)

  16. Agree with toonsy about Fulham. Harder team to get excited and motivated to play well against. Although this will be the 1st team we’ll play without any issues going on. Arsenal were obviously going thru a lot. Mackems brought in 10 new players.
Fulham are pretty consistent from last season. They have jol leading them now but after a loss this past weekend, they’ll be having a point to prove.

  17. Nolans shown his true colours…never gave a **** about Newcastle.

Couldn’t get his own way so fcuked off & now he’s trying unsettle an already unsettled player.

    He’s a total Scun thorpe

  18. With Ramadan still going on, I am going to propose something which might sound crazy for the Fulham game: rest tiote. He hasn’t started any games with confidence or consistency, with his energy levels low because he has been fasting all month!

I think Gosling could do well in his place next to Joey, with Cabaye in the advanced role.

And if necessary, bring on Cheik to see the game out

  20. I don’t think Joey is that stupid to follow Nolan. I think Newcastle are moving in the right direction and will prove all those doubters wrong. As a club we are buying intelligently so we don’t break the bank by paying more realistic transfer fees for talent. The old way was to bribe players with exorbitant wages on long contracts. We are more joined up financially, and investing in youth to ensure that the Newcastle has a future which is sustainable The Team spirit goes from strength to strength and is apparent for all to see. Nothing would give me more delight than to see all those doubters proved wrong. The only criticism is that Mr Ashley needs to more engaging with the fans because together we could compliment the togetherness that is already being displayed on the pitch. The future is looking bright, we should stop moaning and be more positive about what is happening both on and off the pitch.

  21. much ado about nothing,

everyone needs to get off their high horses about kev. class player for us. moved on because we didnt offer him contract he deserved imo. hey ho. he goes west ham to link up with old boss he had a great relationship with. gets asked a question about joey – answers truthfully.

im starting to get annoyed with the hypocricy of us fans. on one hand we want players to speak to fans more and not feed us standard lines – but when we dont like it we shout and scream and call them “bastar*ds, cun*s, *****rs” etc.

get over it and chill out – they were mates and he wants him there with him. is that behaviour so “wankerish?”

barton aint going west ham and nolan will have a good season at hammers

lets all leave it at that for chris sake

      (Quote)

  22. KK @ 21 – Its still tapping up is it not? Regardless of there being no fee Barton is still under contract. Its not a free transfer at all. Merely a fee free transfer.

  23. See our striker search is back to square one!

Wonder if there’s any strikers in the Blue Square that we could afford?

Won’t be surprised to see us with just Strolla, Ba and Lovenkrands come Sept.

  24. Does it really matter if hes deemed to tap him up, Rochdale said they were interested and nobody batted an eyelid because it wont happen, Dave Whelan says they would have him good but he wont have you, Ditto Stoke, QPR and Wham.

None would pay him the same ammount he earns here and would be of little interest to him if they did, He wouldnt be playing unless he was staying IMHO, I still think if he keeps his gob shut he may get a new contract…

  26. Kevin was just passing comment when he was pressed on Joey by reporters.

Joeys name will always grab the headlines, even in the championship.

Barton even said after Nolan left that he wouldnt drop down a league coz he can hold his own in the Prem.

the story has no substance what-so-ever.

Its the tussle for Pieters/Maiga that I don’t like. Surely the other club could just pull out if they’re not happy with Newcastles tactics..

  27. Nolan should concentrate on answering the criticism West Ham fans of him, such as his fitness and lack of effort as has been highlighted by them, instead of mouthing off about other players.

      (Quote)

  28. APP…..I’d like to see West Ham owners faces if they don’t go up, they want to hopew they put some sort of clause in his contract or they’re stuck with another 4 years of him on that money because no other club will top that contract 😆

      (Quote)

  29. Richie – aye, they are seriously in the ******* if they dont promote. Wonder if fat sham is on a big contract aswell? ohh yea, would love to see his face aswell.

  30. TC…if he wasn’t taking it seriously and is glad to be out then maybe they shouldn’t have charged the 4775 who turned up to watch their team win any sort of admission charge 👿

  31. Kevin is a scouser, naturally his gob will run loose like barton.

It’s just the Mirror reporters trying their best to sell a sh** paper.

Apparently Big Sam played 1up front at home like he did here. I don’t think he’ll last the season and I reckon they’ll not get promoted first time. If not Nolans fat contract will be seriously questioned.

Yes he is (and Benny also) according to this article:

Think Gosling can step up and take over Bartons role?

  37. Its refreshing to see most fans have now realised what type of person Nolan is.
I hate to say it but I told you’s so, and in telling you’s I used to get stick for airing my opinions on numerous occasion.
I used to get told that he was a mr newcastle, how he loved the club, and even some said he was as good a captain as Shearer what a laugh that was 😆
Even after he helped pack Carrolls bags for him and then told liverpool how good a player they got, there was still loads of fans thought he was still captain fantastic.
I consider myself as a good judge of character and I would be amazed if Joey dropped down to join Tugboat. As I really believe that Joey does have love for the club, even his Bro things the Toon fans are the best in the world and he has no reason to get involved, but i guess Joey’s love is rubbing of on him.

  47. Dave, at last someone else who thinks like me about Nolan. Maybe I should have come back on here sooner. 😀

As for the Muslim players, perhaps that is why Tiote has looked off form as of late. It’s Ramadan at the moment so all muslims are fasting. He probably hasn’t got the engergy to get about the pitch. Just a thought like.

On the Fulham game, I really hope it is another Villa from last season as I’m going to be going to it.
