Llambias should be sacked for this controversy!

Llambias and his dodgy dealings.
So we’ve apparently been reported twice this week for our actions in the transfer market.

Odd when you consider the lack of transfer action has been the source of much ire amongst fans.

First we had Sochaux register a complaint with UEFA alleging that we just wouldn’t leave their striker, Modibo Maiga, alone. To be fair you could see there was a rabbit away when the player himself came out and told the world that he’d met people at Newcastle and how he wanted to move, wouldn’t play again etc etc. I knew then that something wasn’t right. Sochaux were unhappy that we hadn’t been given permission to talk to the player.

Now we have Charlton Athletic registering a complaint with the Football League over our attempts to sign their goalkeeper Rob Elliot. Charlton are said to be unhappy with the lowballing that we seem to employ with every transfer. Which, in fairness, is probably the reason why it takes us so long to get a deal done, unless the player is free of course. Look at how quickly the deal was done for Sylvain Marveaux for example. Charlton are also not happy with the fact that we didn’t have permission to talk to the player.

Ultimately there is one man responsible for sorting out the transfers at Newcastle. Mike Ashley may get the bulk of the backlash from fans whilst Pardew gets called a puppet or a patsy, but it’s Derek Llambias who is responsible for the direct transfer decisions and, more importantly, how we go about pursuing players.

That seems to be the key area – how we go about transfers. We talk to players without permission which is just not on in my opinion. You can **** and moan about the transfer spending and what not, but it’s not illegal. What Llambias has been up to is though, and that should mean the end of the road for him at Newcastle.

I say should, but we all know that it won’t mean the end of the road for him.

To me Derek Llambias is bringing the club into disrepute. I don’t dispute the fact that this talking to agents doesn’t go on behind the scenes, but there is clearly a way to do these things, and clearly Llambias doesn’t know how to go about it.

His actions could very easily cost the club money in the form of fines and so on. In the most extreme case it could lead to a transfer embargo being put upon the club, and it’s all been brought about by him thinking he is a clever **** during negotiations. Not everyone will stand for it, as has been shown by these two complaints.

It’s just another thing in a long line of catastrophic events that Llambias has overseen. Perhaps he should concentrate on getting his own job in order being being so quick to sledgehammer the fans if they step out of line.

Personally I feel that removing Llambias would remove a large part of the problem between fan and board. Take Chris Mort as the example. He was equally as calculating and conniving and even played a bigger part in the whole Kevin Keegan debacle than Llambias, which a lot of people seem to forget/gloss over, but he had people skills and the ability to talk to fans. That is what a lot of people want – communication from the top rather than leaving the whoever the manager may be to take all of the flak all of the time.

As much as I feel I have a point, I also feel it’s was a waste of time me writing this article as it’s never going to happen.

However having this little rant makes me feel better.

  1. Toonsy, you could have just left the last three lines off the headline and it would have still made sense.

If we had someone like David Dein in, who did wonders at Man U and Arsenal then we might be in a better place than we are now.
Ashley knows nowt about running a football club, but then why should he? That’s what he has staff for.

Owl heeds position is the real position of power as he is the link between the football and the money sides.

  2. I’m all for getting shot of Lamb’s **** but whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

As for costing the club money – isn’t that what Joey Barton did when he grabbed hold of Gervinho? I didn’t see any articles calling for his sacking after that.

  3. TC – The charge was for “failing to control players”. It wasn’t about Barton. The cynical side may think it was, but at the end of the day officially it wasn’t

Llambias is a ****. End of. He is as likable a dose of the clap.

  4. Lambias should be fired for being poor as his designated duties, and should be ‘running f&ck ***** slapped’ for having that face 😆 😕

  5. Toonsy – you know as well as I do that when the FA said “failing to control players” what they really meant was “failing to control Joey Barton”.

As for Llambias, when it comes to being a **** he’s guilty as charged, but I don’t think that’s a sackable offence.

  6. great article Toosy but I doubt he’d ever be replaced by MA.

If only his stripping at St James was captured and aired on utube.. 😆

  7. Definition- Mass hysteria- a form of groupthink, in which several people with something in common begin to think in the same way (and depart from reality). In mass hysteria, the group members all develop a common fear that often spirals into a panic (go mental). The group members feed off each other’s emotional reactions, causing the panic to escalate …

… witch hunts and other events can be linked to mass hysteria.

Seriously, some of you really need to get a grip and think for yourselves instead of regurgitating the same old hate-fill drivel … i’m not even a fan of the guy, but some of you are worse than a bunch of biddy’s discussing ‘the youth of today’ … yawn, give it a rest ffs …

  10. Toonsy, think i have to agree with TC here .. i mean, no one seems to warm to this guy, altho no one has spent any time with him to see what he is realistically like + talk of being a puppet or a patsy when you are employed to do what the pupeteer is telling you to do is a bit weak, but you can hardly talk of sacking without a ruling. And in any case, do we really all think it is that bad that we are being so aggressive on transfers? Obvs we have to work within the prescribed legal parameters, but you have to push those to the limit to succeed .. mebs someone got the wrong end of the stick?

How do you work that one out? Would they not just have charged Barton, like they have in the past? When he punched Pederson why didn’t they charge NUFC for failing to control their players? Or did Arsenal’s charge really mean failing to control Gervinho too?

  12. If these allegations are found to be true ( which they prob are in all fairness ) the club need to look at how they conduct themselves in theri transfer dealings. Its not on the clubs repuattion been tarnished. I have no problem is trying to get the best deal possible , infact i encourage it , but we cant go pissing off clubs as nobody will deal with us in the future

  17. the problem may well be that lambsarse isnt a football person
anl d doesnt know the ropes llike Dein Levy Brady etc who have been buying and selling players for years I agree With toonsy people who dont do their jobs properly should lose them

  19. @mark … if i had eyebrows like his, they’d get in the way of typing too much to write this reply 😉

But nope, as i said, not a fan- Personally i doubt he’s someone you could even trust with your dog (not like that! .. well maybe ..)

I just find it mental that if anything good happens transfer wise- its Graham Carr, if anything bad happens, its MA and DL’s fault …

Personally i like to think we have an inscrupulous b*****d out there trying to get the best deal for the club … anyone that can sign Cabaye, Marv, Ben Arfa and Tiote (and a whole host of seriously exciting young talent) for next to nothing … deserves SOME credit … however much that’s going to upset some people …

If they’ve over stepped the mark with Sochaux and Charlton, then they’ll get a slap on the wrists … but who really cares about that? … howay lads, “Karm Down Karm Down” … we’re not the scouser’s …

  20. Well said. we must get rid of this septic stump, however it could be a ploy to have a transfer embargo slapped on us so the fat man has an excuse for not spending.

      (Quote)

  21. jimmy@11……..if we ‘give it a rest’ as you say… er.. thats the end of the blog ffs. BLOG means just that. We come on here and **** and moan when we have a right too, we also say great things when they are also right. If you dont like the blog just dont click on it man. Pretty simple really.
Besides.. this thread is a very legitimate one and very relevant to us right now… FFS… we have two seperate serious reports against us, one with FIFA and one with the FA, both have evidence against us and both clubs are working in tandem, sharing info in order to have the book thrown at us. This is all caused through our own actions and flagrant disregard for all the regulations that are set in place to protect us and other clubs.
Just ask yourself…. how would we feel if chelsea or liverpool or sunderland went through the back door and started arranging a deal with tiote without our knowledge?? would we sit back and take it or would we go ape **** and report them?

      (Quote)

  22. Do people really honestly believe that this is all a ploy to get a transfer embargo? I mean even though I’m castigating Llambias for being shady and breaking rules (seven of them if you read what Charlton have reported us for…) I seriously doubt that is the masterclass.

Why would they need an excuse to not spend money when they just go about and don’t do it anyway?

  24. Jimmy3knees .. you should look forward to it .. we have pretty much established that it was MA who got us relegated, but it was not MA who got us promoted, was not MA who appointed CH, was not MA who appointed GCarr who secured Tiote etc etc .. it is seriously impressive stuff.

I understand the principle of a blog mate, and I’m just expressing my opinion and having a good ‘**** and moan’ at all constant negativity and wining that an awful lot of fan seem to have. Blowing off steam is one thing, calling a man a c*** on the basis of another ill informed and inciting article is another …

I agree it COULD be a serious ‘tapping up’ issue, but it could quite as easily be forgotten about by next week, the only possibly damaging thing is media **** storm, and they dont seem to arsed about it so far …

Other clubs tapping up our players? They all do it, come on … Nolan’s comments to Barton last week were just the public and legit way of trying to do it (Do you really think Fat Sam didn’t know Nolan was going to say that?)… and if you think Carrol’s and Enique’s move didnt all involve a degree of engineering from their current clubs behind the scenes … then thats just naive.

We just got it wrong/went too far/weren’t subtle enough/or its just a form of defense from the clubs involved. Truth is, no-one really knows, so i stick by what i said- Calm down.

      (Quote)

  27. Craig .. there is loads to discuss and debate without being entirely non-sensical .. half the time the comments made are just brutally ignorant without consideration .. we have people slagging the cr ap out of all and sundry who is supposed to be an MA puppet about not trying hard enough to secure transfers and then we slag hell out of them when they get reported for (apparently and as yetunproven) trying to bend the rules on transfer deals .. its a little ridiculous isnt it?

  28. TGS – I told him earlier. He’s just off shifting goalposts for his next prediction as we speak 😆

  29. The simple truth is that Derek Llambias is disastrous at running the club. We’re a laughing stock for other clubs and sections of the media while the fans are the proverbial mushrooms: kept in the dark and fed on bullshit. It is not helpful to run any club or business in this way where the customers (fans) are so mucked about by the owners. All it takes is clear, open, honest communication by and from the board and they will get the respect they no doubt feel they deserve. But they can’t even figure that one out. Sheer, total imcompetency. Loose the man.

      (Quote)

  30. Now then Stardust .. seems we are about to sign Pieters .. if that comes off, very hard to argue we arent substantially better off than many previous years with cash in the bank and with players on the pitch who will follow the managers instructions rather than trying to run the place themselves .. and JB may have been harnessed

      (Quote)

  31. Paul, we are operating in a competitive environment where info on what competitors are doing is highly prized and valuable, therefore i support the fact that little to no info comes out of the club .. we are told regularly that the club is trying on all fronts that need addressing and considering the number of deals we have executed in comparison with other clubs, we have little choice but to blv them.

  32. Toonpipes, I appreciate that but I want to hear more of this type of communication from the board (Derek Llambias), not fans and commentators on this site. If he did communicate that way, we wouldn’t need to talk about it on this site.

  37. i think if we had a chairman with some footballing brain in there somewhere and a one that could create a decent relationship with the fans then it would go a long way towards ashley and the fans both softening their stance.. as it stands now Dekka… its a lost cause. Its ok ashley knowing nothing about football, but for his chairman to be just as stupid.. thats the problem i think.

  38. Often the “acceptable face” of a football club is its Managing Director or Chairman.
Lambsarse is not an acceptable face. In fact, he makes the club look positively amateurish in my opinion.
Like the owner he has very little knowledge of what the game is all about which is only to be expected coming from a casino environment?
His recruitment was just like the appointments of Wise and Kinnear for sheer stupidity, and typical of an owner who wants his mates to work for him without thinking about how much influence and success they can have in the workplace.
Lambsarse out? Of course. And take his tight a***d boss with him.

  41. Personally – I think the “Ashley knows nothing about football” is outdated now. He now has great experience at the sharp end of running a club and a business.

Football men running businesses has football in the mess it is today. They write ego filled cheques a club can’t sustain. Their road is littered with the ruins of many a once great club.

  45. I don’t really see the contraversy here. I think Toonsy’s pretty much nailed it: rather than the usual “I hate everyone” stupidity, we’ve got a pinpoint bit of criticism based on some simple facts.

While we don’t know how much blame or credit he deserves for different aspects, the buck does stop with him for both. But we do know his background, we do know the lies he’s told and his awful record in communications. We have done well with transfers, but that’s not enough. We need a boss who keeps the club’s ethical reputation high, and he’s just not doing it.

I’d love to see the back of him. Not Ashley (I think we’d get a lot worse), definitely not Pards, Carr or any of the coaching staff. But Lamearse? The weak link, in my opinion.
