That was Demba Ba's second hat-trick of the season, which brings his tally to eight league goals in nine league appearances. Not too shabby for a "ticking timebomb" who was signed on a free!
It was a great win last night. Our tactics were just about spot on and we answered all of the questions Stoke answered in this, our 10th first real test of the season. We're now 3rd in the league and know that a win at home against Everton in the early kick-off will see us go 2nd, albeit temporarily as Man Utd take on the unwashed at Old Trafford in a 3pm kick-off.

These are happy days for Newcastle fans. Surely it won't last but having said that there is nothing wrong with wanting it to continue for as long as it can. A win against Everton would give us 25 points heading into that run of games against the Manchester clubs and Chelsea which would mean that we'd still be in touch with the European slots even if we lost all three of them!
This Newcastle side continue to answer the questions asked of them and confound the critics at pretty much every turn. We can be truly proud of them and confident that they will give their all for the cause.
