Thought the first half underlined some of our weaknesses. Willo is not a starting CB. Let’s hope Saylor has a healthy season to come and that we strengthen at the CB position. Perch is not a starter either, and I would prefer someone better than Simpson at RB as well. Moyes set them up well to beat us. Our midfield never really got going until the second half. We need a bigger attacking CM for good teams especially for away games. I hope Marveaux stays healthy as well so we can have a good look at him next season. Thought Jonas looked out of gas after a tough season for him. Disappointing finish but the season was excellent. Give Pards some money Ashley! We will play a lot more games next season and several players are due to leave.
I though Moyes neutralized the attacking threat of Hatem very effectively as well. They surrounded him and prevented any dangerous attacks through the middle. Have to agree with B&B @15 Ba has been very disappointing since ACoN. Cisse doesn’t provide a good partner for him, whereas Cabaye seemed to understand Cisse’s movement right from their first match together. If we could get 20 M or more for Ba it would be worth selling him to get a bigger attacking CM and a great CB.

Just saw the Cabaye ball boy incident, don’t know why such a big deal was made. Yes Cabaye was a bit rude snatching it from the ball boy, but he didn’t push him and he put his hand up in apology to the boy as he saw him stumble. Also he went and officially apologised, so no action should be taken against him as has been suggested by some.
Most of the rumours about this are saying theres a meeting with Pardew and Lambias in Newcastle today but he’s down in London at the LMA awards today! I don’t think theres anything to this apart from some naughty sh*t stirring.
Fingers crossed anyway. Any sort of bust up now would be devastating to our progress!

I’m not positive if this is correct, but I heard we start in the 4th qualifying round (as Richie said) no matter what, with games on August 23 and 30. Supposedly, the FA Cup winner (Chelsea) skips qualification. If they win the Champions League, Tottenham would take the automatic qualification spot. The League Cup winner is lower than the 5th place team, though, so Liverpool starts in the 3rd qualifying round.

A strip needs to be strident so that you can pick out your team mates easily. This one blends into the background. It might be okay for the fan, but not for the purpose for which it is primarily designed. Emergency services wear hi-viz for the obvious reason. The new strip wouldn’t be too bad if it had the hi-viz trimmings like Wigan’s. Hi-viz is easy to pick out from the corner of your eye. Of course, only people who have played the game would appreciate this. (Stay in your box Toonsy!) Furthermore, there is a psychology of colours that effect performances. Of course, the strip designers don’t care at all about that.

The lack of effort and fight had zilch to do with the colours of the strip.
@127 – I would say a strip needs to be familiar for team mates to pick each other out instantly. I don’t mean it as a lame excuse but psychologically chucking on a different shirt colour must knock some recognitive skills to the side, in a game where instantaneous and intuitive interaction is related very highly to quick recognition. I haven’t checked, but as our infamous hammerings were away from home, is it coincidental we weren’t wearing black & white? If we’re going with our Persil advert range we may take until the end of the next season to get into our stride!
