Why just today we have have Demba Ba to Tottenham, where he will be joined by Tim Krul whilst Papiss Cisse is, apparently anyway, off to Manchester United.
It’s all rubbish though of course as the press are unlikely to know anything that we don’t, and yet people are still interested in what they have to say. Take a look at the “top stories” on Newsnow and you will see that they are the ones that are being read, which is shocking really when you consider just how wildly inaccurate most of these reports end up being.
I’m just wondering why there is so much interest from our own fans regarding players moving away. It smacks a little bit of paranoia based on the sales of players like Andy Carroll, Jose Enrique, Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton, all of whom had their own reasons to move on.
There seems to be this perception that we are a selling club. We’re not. We will sell only if certain criteria are met, whether that be financially or if a player wants to move on. It’s no different to many other teams in the Premier League bar a select few who can offer a player anything he may look for in his career. Even Manchester United and Arsenal have been subject to this in the last few seasons.
Yes I know we’ll sell if a big offer comes in, like most teams would, but we certainly won’t be seeing the mass exodus the media are predicting. As Richietoon pointed out, people are quick to knock “in the know” people down, but they aren’t far off what the media are trying to do themselves.
The best thing to do with the press is to take eerything they say with a whole bucket load of salt!

All bolocks to me, I do read the articles only to see if there’s any credible research and evidence gone into them, there never is. They usually make up stuff and make stupid suggestions as to why the players might sign “Krul is likely to go to Tottenham as the spurs manager is trying to address an ageing team” I mean WTF, how do these men earn money “Ronaldo could sign for city as Mancinni are looking for a flair player, as well as city have the money to back the move” FFS

We read the reports for the same reason as you do, there is nothing with any substance or truth to read about, but don’t worry we all no that a report which has a “source” as the base of its information is just made up rubbish, just relax and treat it as a comic.
The truth is without the garbage written in the press there would be a lot of quiet web sites.

I think we’re right to knock “in the know” people down. Especially those that have “sources” linking our players away. Someone made the point the other day that if these sources (usually journalists) actually existed, they would be running to the paper sharpish to spread the word.
Golden rule that never seems to be picked up in transfer windows:
In this day and age, noone can just be “spotted” without evidence. If someone or some paper claims there mam has seen someone at the training ground I want photographic evidence, it’s not hard in this camera phone era. Otherwise it didn’t happen.

I’m sure they get their stories from a names out of a hat style of journalism.
Were a month away from the window even opening and I’m bored of it all already. Don’t get me wrong, it’s different when fans discuss who they’d like to see come to the club, I enjoy that crack, but when journalists write stories making out it’s factual – that’s what pisses me off.
I’ve also read today that Simpson is on his way to QPR, that’s according to a ‘close source’.
Until I see footage on SSN of players at grounds, I believe nowt!!!
All these’ in the know ‘ journalist are really being taken for mugs by players agents trying to directly or by use of third parties get a better deal for themselves and players. I suspect half the time the player and certainly the club has no idea what the agents and their cohorts are up to. One things for sure if we think it’s bad now ,wait till the Euros start the whole circus will go into overdrive.
This nonsense they currently are writing is purely done to get hits to their website & people to buy the papers. Thats the way they make the money thru ‘Advertising’ people read this bollocks and line their pockets. The more hits they get/more papers they sell the higher the fee paid for advertising in a rag/web site.

Too right! Woke up and checked out the news to see who we might be linked with today and 80% of the news is about players going out.
I don’t even bother reading those stories unless they claim to have a quote from a player and even that gets fabricated these days.

JG..Gameiro’s pros and cons were debated on the last thread, I don’t think he’s been offered to us though and even if he had it would mean Cisse, Ba or benny would have to leave to make way as he wouldn’t come to warm the bench imo.

There are going to be offers made for some of those mentioned, which if over the top could be accepted, but in that case when will we ever become competitive if we sell off the cream of the side each summer.
After over fifty years, with one trophy, it’s about time we made a serious run at some silverware.

It’s a mobile web address so it might not work, but it basically says that the 7mil release clause for Ba is only open from May 31 to July 31, so he’s now in his own personal transfer window. They’re still linking Spurs with him, but what’s been said all day is true: they’re gonna lose top players this summer, and they’re in the exact same competition as us.
So Demba’s “clause” has a time limit now!

…the thing with his knees is that he may never miss a game because of them or they could go next month, who knows but he hasn’t really had that much botha with them so far in his career. His only really lengthy spell out was with a broken leg….it only seems to be medicals that flag the problem up, the time limit in his contract(if true)doesn’t really make any difference whether he stays or not, but “if” he were to go I suppose it helps us as we’d have at least a month to find a replacement as he can’t feck off 5 minutes before the deadline.
