Oh Danny Boy…

Heading out of NUFC?
So all of a sudden we get nowt from the club, Simpson or his advisers on what is happening regarding a new deal, or lack of agreement as the case seems to be?! Seems a bit strange after the weeks of solid speculation we’ve had recently.

As Toonsy wrote a week or so ago now, Simpson seemed to back track greatly from his original stance of “gimme more money” to someone who really wants to play for the club and it’s not about the money.

I feel I know football well enough now to know that football is pretty much just about the money these days and jealousy plays a major part of a footballers psyche. I don’t have the right to say one way or the other if Simpson is greedy because I don’t know him, but from the outside he has painted himself into a corner. Most fans now will be looking at him thinking, are you hear because you want to play for this club? And why shouldn’t they?

The stats say that Simpson is one of the best in the league and if these stats are used to assess a players performance then he should be in the England squad in Poland and Ukraine. However, what myself and many, many other NUFC fans see week upon week is how slow Simpson is. The games against Spurs, Wigan and Brighton are the three that really stick in my mind as games where he was turned at least once and could not recover. Okay so he has made some crucial goal line clearances but there has to be more to a player than that. I don’t think he possesses the ability going forward to be a top quality full back and I would much prefer to see Santon play there with Fergie at left back.

From a continuity point of view I would like to see Simpson retain his place in the squad/team because I don’t think chopping and changing is the way to do business BUT he is not good enough and clearly has ideas way above his station. How many other players have left NUFC in recent years with the promise of better things but have failed big style? Martins, Owen, Bassong, Beye, Geremi, Jose, Carroll, Jenas, N’Zogbia. The last one always makes me laugh, good old Charles “Arsenal want me” N’Somnia. Wally.

As a club I am so glad that NUFC is standing firm on this. To me it can only be respected by the winder football world and I think we are fast becoming a club that players know rewards good performers and only want the best. So if Simpson won’t talk terms that the club offer he’s a fool and we are better off without.

Enjoy QPR, Villa and the rest.

  2. Having seen “Warrior”…googled him and seen him in “The Take” though…..whey can’t sit here all day, off to the beach so I should find out about 3 this afternoon if I missed any bits wi the suncream….I’d ask a random lass on the beach to do it but my crooked, stained teeth usually put them off 😆

  3. Richie-Tom Hardy is a fantastic actor, he played Bronson in a movie ,the famous prisoner not the actor that is. He was fab in Martina Coles The Take and brilliant in Wuthering Heights recently ,played a great Heathcliff.

  4. Morning Aussie ,Are they doing anything in Oz to celebrate the Queens diamond jubilee?, It’s all gone mental over here 4 days of stuff going on . Prefer it when the weekend is packed with football meself. 😉

  5. Paul Lambert off to Villa then by the looks of things, reckon he could do a good job with them .Maybe be a trickier season for us next year what with the change in so many clubs managers and Europa and bedding in hopefully lots of new players too.

  6. Villa should improve as much as i would have loved them ****** to get relegated with a potential front four of Bent, Charlie, Agbonlahor and Holt if/when he ends up following lambert they should be finishing much higher.

Does make our job harder for next season but on the flip side i think Swansea and Norwich will be weaker, Im not convinced by reading at all, Havent seen enough of southampton to comment and good luck to wham if they think signing mccartney from the scum will sort there defence… 😉

  8. Bas Dost of to Wolsburg, but if he’s any good he’ll appear in the EPL sooner or later….

Wow, it’s a bit of an uneven playing field when Chelsea can sign Marin, Hulk and Hazard for around 100 million. What chance have the rest of us got…..!! Way out of order !!!!

  9. MM just goes to show chelsea sign players with nee manager really,in other words roman signs them manager has to get on with it strange!

  10. Does twitchy just chase players to **** off other clubs, Why would they need another right back when they already have Walker and Naughton two outstanding young players, Chelski could see it with bosingwa leaving but someone should be stepping in now they are taking the **** out of the ffp ruling.

Still think we have a chance the french lads already at sjp and his best mate should have some sway…

  12. Hey Kim, back on line briefly, we are not celebrating the jubilee other than having to put up with lots of tv time being spent on it… Rather the footy as well 😆

  13. Even Man U and Arsenal have nee chance with the money Citeh and Chelski have at their disposal, next season they will dominate everything and the gap will grow further. I think it’s true what they say about the ladder being pulled up and in a few years (now) if you aren’t in the money (Leeds, Portsmouth, Bolton) ect, these clubs will never catch up or compete at the top again. The gap, moneywise, is increasing year on year between the top of the premiership and the clubs in the football league. West Ham were a Kevin Phillips goal away from oblivion IMO.

I would have loved it if WH failed to get promoted, I like nothing about them. 👿

  15. Andy ,to be honest I can see West Ham going down again if they defend as they have been .They need much better players to come in if they going to survive imo. Villa will be much better with Lambert in charge and the Dippers will probably fair better now KK gone ,only fly in the ointment for them is Carroll who doesn’t suit Rogers style of play . It’s not gonna be anywhere near as easy for us as last season and I’m a tad worried to be honest.

  16. Hulk and Hazard. 😐 Do Chelsea actually have any scouts FFS.
I hate all this bollocks. When is this UEFA financial fair play ruling gona kick in? When Chelsea and Man City have bought all the best players in the world, and had enough time to rig the books and pass on sufficient bribes?? Will it make any fkn difference whatsoever? I have my doubts. 👿

  17. Rod ,I’m with you it’s a bloody joke how they are able to do it. Stupid money that’s inflating prices of all players even mediocre ones . Just where it leaves the rest of us god only knows, we just have to make sure we have great scouts picking up un known gems that we can bleed the likes of Chelsea and Citeh dry with when they inevitably come knocking. 👿 When it all goes tits up and the PL collaspses like a deck of cards we can say Chelsea and Citeh killed football.

  18. At the end of the day it is the same two clubs throwing crazy money around, Chelsea and Man City. Way out of order in my opinion.

Adam Johnson on loan from Citeh next season anyone ? That would be a great signing imo..

  19. I know Kim, it’s been riling me ever since Abramovic took over. It’s supposed to be a ‘league’ and Chelsea and Man City are clearly in a ‘different league’. It’s like putting Evel Knievel down as a racer in the Grand National – although obviously unfair I’d quite like to see it. 😀

And yeah, as you state it has a financial domino effect on all the other ‘fair’ clubs. “Well, if Rooney is worth £150M, then Agbonlahor has got to be worth at least £35!”. Mercenary players’ wages go through the roof end end up at the highest bidders/payers. I know the game has evolved considerably over the last 30 years or so, but it can’t be right.

  21. Back to the ol’ faithful avatar then Richie. I see Benny didn’t last long. Did all the swearing scare him off? I know he’s a timid type.

  22. Rodz…He’s a bit upset, Kim asked for a picture of Benny, I duly obliged and Benny got grief. he’s got feelings you know 😉

Don’t believe mackems when they say he’s a scum fan just because he was born there…..”“I wasn’t a Sunderland fan, I was at Newcastle and supported them as a kid.” 😉

      (Quote)

  23. Yeah Richie, he’s had enough knockbacks in his time from Miss Diane. Can’t do the lad’s self-esteem much good. 😥

    …new article up I see.

  24. Munich &Rod ,Yes I would like to see him at Toon too,but it comes back to that Chelsea Citeh problem again ,in respect that these players are on very high wages which we can’t match. They buy up all the talent and seduce them with sky high wages then park em on the bench. Now I’m sure a lot of players are happy to pick up the wonga and do Sweet fa but there has to be a lot who long to play games and give their National team place a fighting chance. The question is are they willing to leave for a smaller club with less pay for probably working a bit harder 😕

      (Quote)

  25. It’s a tough one that Kim. I think it’s really important for the younger lads to get playing time, especially if they’re vying for an International spot. But money does play such a huge part these days, and the ‘big’ clubs raise players’ financial expectations to totally unrealistic and impractical levels. Wayne Bridge pretty much destroyed his International career by moving to Chelsea for mega bucks, and I’m sure there have been many others. Anyway, that’s my daily whinge out the way now. 😎
