Newcastle handed tricky start to season

Can we put on another Sho against Sours?
Newcastle will kick off next season at home to Tottenham Hotspur on 18th of August, followed up one week later by a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

The two derby dates can be added to your diary as follows. We take a trip to the village of the damned October 20th with the return match at St James’ Park being played on April 13th.

If you’re after some festive cheer then I’d look elsewhere. Somehow the fixture computer has “randomly” managed to send us to Old Trafford on Boxing Day with a trip to Arsenal penned in three days later. However we are at least back on home home turf for New Years Day when Everton will visit SJP.

In another plus point, we get to finish the season in front of our own fans for a change with Arsenal being the visitors on the final day of the season on May 19th. You can see the full fixture list below.

  1. No easy games in the PL so not fussed what order they are in.. We will win some we shouldn’t and lose some we shouldn’t 🙂 so that should lead to a top 4 finish 🙂 🙂 🙂

  2. Piece of pish. I expect us to be 10 clear by new year’s day and if we haven’t sewn up the title by the end of March I’ll show my **** in Fenwick’s window!

  3. It isn’t a computer who does the festive fixtures, it’s a bloke who has to make all the festive fixtures in England and Scotland with the least amount of police bother, a tough job indeed

  9. Well we had an easy start to last season according to most pundits!
Aussies right, we have to play them all at some point so the only fixtures I was interested in was when we play the scum. As my birthday is April 7th, guess where I’ll be on the 13th – woo hoo!!!

As for managerless Spurs, depending on who they get in and the changes the new manager makes, they may still be getting to grips with new ways, and if AVB gets the job I reckon we will be facing a spurs team without Modric or Bale in it, and of course Adeybayor will not be there and I’d wonder about Van de Vaart as well.
Spurs could be a very different team next season

      (Quote)

  10. Happy to get Spurs first, agree with Sharpy, think they’ll be in disarray come the start till the end of august.
No Adebayor to destroy us now either.

Think Chelsea are going to be a force next year. If Torres has another good couple of games for Spain I can see him tearing the league apart next year.
But it only takes some bad games now and he’ll be back to confidence shot, open goal misser again.

  11. Good game first up I reckon. They’ll be still picking their arses with their new manager.

  12. I will relax once we reach the 35 ish mark ,sad but true . 🙄 Having a **** day ,Lads gone down hill again poor thing ,been back to docs today new anti b’s . Wouldn’t be surprised to be making a trip to hospital this week if he don’t pick up . Hopeing he picks up and England get the win tommorow .

  13. We don ‘t seem to have the same opportunity for a 10 game unbeaten run this time. I dont know why but those fixtures dont look as nice. We have got to play everyone twice in some order though. Spurs at home on the first day should be a good opportunity to get something from them.

      (Quote)

  14. I’d take the results from last season for our first 3 games: Newcastle 2-2 Spurs, Chelsea 0-2 Newcastle, Newcastle 2-1 Villa. 😀

      (Quote)

  15. SHARPY of coarse i saw your reply, never miss a clever comment 😉
pity richie cannot learn to copy 😆 😆 shouldnt say that its his day off on mondays.
sorry for late reply but wor lass got me oot doing hanging baskets, shes just turned her back 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  16. Ice – our lass didnt think I was very clever at half midnight when I finally cottoned on and tried to explain it to her. She didn’t need to explain her “shut the **** up and go to fucking sleep” comment! 😳

Ice – hanging baskets when you live on the top floor of a high rise?! What’s the think there buddy? 🙄 😆

      (Quote)

  17. The Sun reporting Montpelliers LB Henri Bedimo says he’s coming to England next season “I’m going to play in England next season .I’ll announce where next week .” The 28 yr old has been linked to Toon and Liverpool recently. My guess is he’s off to the Dippers as at 28yrs old ,don’t think we would bother with him.

      (Quote)

  18. Kim – he can go, he’s a Cameroon international so would be another ACoN player we’d loose if he came. Don’t really know enough about him to say he’d be any great loss.
See QPR are snapping up the freebies already Andy Johnson and Ryan Neilsen already signed up.

Kim – hope the boy is ok as well

      (Quote)

  19. strange to see young taylor getting the boot, was top scorer for res and youth team at one point, maybe a good catch for oldham only 19

      (Quote)

  20. Ice – I thought that, wonder if it was a case of a young un laying down demands like Progba or Morrison did at Man Utd. It’s a shame really because if there was a chance of him breaking through I think this season would have been it with all the fixtures.
We need to get moving with transfers now like, its doing me tits in! 👿

Anyone know when our Euro campaign gets started in relation to our fixture list?

      (Quote)

  21. SHARPY you could be right as hes only signed a 1yr contract with them, chaseing money maybe?

      (Quote)

  22. Good start spuds may be disorganised when we play them 😉

Anyone feel that we only really need 4 players providing that no one goes out?

Personally feel we are desperate for a CB, FB, ST and LW.
CB so that with willo, saylor, colo complete the depth. As we have experience in the centre halves I can see a younger powerful centre half coming in much in the mould of Hanley or similar ilk to Mbwia.

FB because it seems simpson isnt favoured and santon is still far too raw. Debuchy I think would be a great signing but could more likely see Rosales or anita as they looks more of a carr signing and debuchys price may be stupid after the euros.

LW because jonas, obertan and marveaux can all play but add another on in the mixer for europa etc? Hoilett would be ideal and would fit into our policy but is far too expensive wages wise so could see someone in the mould of Brahimi or boudebouz.

ST purely because Ba, cisse and ameobi are all off to ACON maybe not ameobi but still and that leaves best as the only striker. It seems as though would be a younger striker which makes me think we could make a gamble on someone like John Guidetti.

    All pure speculation but;
    Mbwia / Hanley – £3m-6m
    Rosales / Anita – £6m
    Brahimi / Boudebouz – £4m
    Guidetti – £5m

    Total: circa £20m is a whole lot of capital outlay but offset against;

    Simpson – £2.5m
    Forster – £2.5m
    Xisco – £1m

Leaves outlay of £14m which doesnt seem entirely unrealistic.
    I had a few mins spare……….. 😆 😆

  23. Man, I may have just lucked out with the fixture list this year. My wife desperately wants to be in London for her 40th this year and she has expressed her desire to see an Arsenal game while there…and it just so happens that Arsenal are hosting Newcastle on her birthday…It’s like it’s a sign. Still not sure it will happen, in the end it probably won’t (finances and all)…but man, that would just be so perfect.

      (Quote)

  24. Sharpy@25 Yeh ,reckon your right ,his nationanality and age go against us getting him ,don’t know anything about him either. Lew very up and down but thanks for asking like. 😀

Liam @32 Think you are spot on there .By the way your mystery man signing ,any updates on it?. If we don’t get him, you will let us know who it was in a bullseye sort of way. You know ,have a look at what you could of had. 😉

      (Quote)

  25. Until we find out how we perform in the transfer market then the fixtures are meaningless other than to plan your away trips.

Chicken isn’t allowed out of his street so it’s all irrelevant to him. 😛

      (Quote)

  26. Norcal@33 -I’m a bit like you as I’m hopeing to make the reading game .I only live in Bristol so not far away ,my brother thinks he can get tickets for us from the rep of the club sponsors for reading ,as he deals with him at his social club. He’s got us Bristol city tickets when they played Reading in the past . Thing is they are for a box and I would rather an away section ticket to be honest. Anyway may not happen yet and depends on lew being well that day ,which is always a gamble.

      (Quote)

  27. Kim – It could happen now he is out the euros….. 😆 but to be honest I cant see it now no news is bad news and although the player keen club arent and playing hardball.

Look an amazing signing but guess was another pipe dream we will see long way to go in window. Would smash our budget. MAybe would have happened if we got champs league

      (Quote)

  28. Liam ,so he’s either Dutch, Danish ,Russian or Greek then 😉 ,Hope it comes off still. Either way will be fascinated to know who it is.

      (Quote)

  29. @Liam tbh I wasn’t impressed by any of the players. The proven players are way out of our league anyway (Robben, RVP etc) and of the ones I hadn’t heard of, none shone.
Obviously you can’t judge a player solely on internationals. If it was Strootman, De Jong or Narsingh that would be amazing.

Disagree on the LW, I think CM is a more important position to fill, if we are playing 3 in the centre I would quite like someone other than Jonas to be there.

@Troy what was the cataclysmic that you thought may be happening a while back?

      (Quote)

  30. @Trumpet

The cataclysmic event was borne out when Chicken was sent on an errand to the corner shop and he managed to make it back home without mother hen having to go and seek him.
    🙂
    Well done Chicken. 🙂

      (Quote)

  31. Kim @ 36, good luck.
The thing that always gets me is having to plan so far out in advance. Any little thing could mess up the best laid plans. I could try to get 4-tickets to Arsenal (me, wife and little girls), but then no guarantee I’ll even be able to get on a plane to London this far out…and the tickets don’t go on sale until what, 2 or 3 weeks before the game anyway…so we can get to London and not be able to get tickets. Oh the humanity of it all…

On the other hand, a week in London wouldn’t be all that bad in and of itself.

      (Quote)

  32. Solano i imagined amilfatino would play CM as cover or perhaps even to start and we still have cabaye, tiote, gosling vuckic, abeid

      (Quote)

  33. What do you make of that makkem crouton Bendtner and his sponsored jockeys ? Cost him 80K the muppet… 😆 😆 😆 😆

Having said that he played canny in the euros, but he’s way too radged to play for us….

      (Quote)

  34. Norcal ,Know what you mean .I have learn’t never to get too excited about up and coming events as I’ve lost count how many times I have had to cancel at the last minute. 🙁

Hope you can work it out though ,but as you say a week in london is a nice way for your wife to celebrate her 40th. 😛 😎

      (Quote)

  35. @43 But who do we have for first choice in there?

Am I still the only one who sees Cabaye playing alongside Tiote and someone else behind the striker in the attacking 3?
It’s where he’s been playing for France (though he’s roamed more than when he played there for us).
I don’t think he has the pace or dribbling skills to make a world class attacking midfielder. But he does of the defensive ability, as well as the anticipation, vision, is a great passer etc etc to be an incredible player as one of the “two midfielders”.

      (Quote)

  36. Now with Denmark out of The euros, The transfer speculation Is going on in The Danish Press.

We are still being linked with Jores Okore.
I have my Eyes on William Kvist or Niki Zimling if Tiote leaves.

No french supporters on this blog?? Would be Nice with some speculation from The french Press.

  37. Giroud been confirmed by Arsenal. Gonna be some strikeforce if the keep RVP…

Robin van Persie, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud combined last season: 122 games, 81 goals and 35 assists. 😯

      (Quote)

  38. TC….that sounds like scumderlands total team stats……for the last 3 seasons 😆

      (Quote)

  39. TC think this was our one shot at the top 4. For a few seasons at least. Competition is going to be fierce next year, Manchester clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal all going to look a lot stronger.

Spurs and Liverpool don’t have a chance in hell of competing for CL next year.

      (Quote)

  40. Richard offiong ‏@Offiong1983

Told by reliable source that Inter have made a concrete offer for Debuchy but has heart set on joining Newcastle. Cabaye is his best mate

      (Quote)

  41. TGS@53-Me too ,thanks. He’s bit better at mo ,but can never be sure with him tbh ,hope you and yours are well too. 😀

Lads ‘n’ lasses ,I just been on Football transfer rumours and someone is saying that the Debuchy deal is done ,but being kept quiet till after the Euros and his medical. Apparently Toon moved quickly befor the Euros when Sagna got ruled out and they knew his stock would rise .We have supposedly triggered a 8m euro clause which Lille can do nowt about and thats why other clubs bids been knocked back because they been made aware of our deal.Anyway make of it what you will guys. 😉

      (Quote)

  42. Andy 🙄 I thought we convinced you not to believe any rumors mate as they will do your head in, only believe it when you see them with a Toon top and a sports direct sign in the background 😉

      (Quote)

  43. Andy ,You get your num nuts on it like all sites but there is something about the post that stands out for me ,not sure why . One of the Eds replied to the poster and didn’t poo poo it like they often do .It might be bollocks like ,but I got a feeling there might be something in it.It’s a good site if you can sift out all the numptys who argue on there. It’s FOOTBALL TRANSFER RUMOURS. just type that in google it’s first one up normally, loads of other talk sites on there too. 😉

      (Quote)

  44. Kim
Oh THAT site, lol used to go on it before I discovered newsnow. Was under the alias ‘Scottoon’ 😎 😆 , yeah I find that the majority on it are numpties (me included, constantly preached that we should get Ruiz and Llorente), usually utter bollocks.
    Dave
I can’t it’s soo addictive 😕 my dad says the same, he has the philosophy of not giving a f-ck till mid August.

      (Quote)

  45. ANDY dave is reet mate just treat it as a bit fun, they are also saying RVP will not be at gunners next season, hope krul gives him a klip on the way home 😉

      (Quote)

  46. Kim I hate it all, I can remember some of the crazy stories floating around during other windows, and I use to hate seeing younger ones having there hopes built up then crushed.
Same with my own kids I very rarly say we WILL do something or go somewhere incase something crops up and they get let down, so I normally just surprise them, or I say the 2 magic words ‘ we’ll see’ 😀

      (Quote)

  47. One flaw in the rumour though is the Lille chairmans comment about how our offer was less than what they wanted.

      (Quote)

  48. DAVE its a while since you said owt about my little fellow, hope hes going well tell him we are asking after him mate

      (Quote)

  49. Ice yeah mate de de is doing good mate though he is never in he’s always out playing footie or up at work with his mum swimming or playing footie if the courts are free. i’ll tell him he needs to drop you an email 😉

      (Quote)

  50. norcal @42, dont bother going to london mate, come to the toon, and watch the match in shearers, or another bar in the toon, itll be a much better atmosphere, than walking up and down oxford street 😉 😉 😉
the fixture list dont bother me too much, like the earlier posts, all i look out for is the inbred games, then my birthday games, roll on the spuds game 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

      (Quote)

  51. For some reason I’ve never had a match on my Birthday, usually a couple of days before or after. 😕

      (Quote)

  52. ToonSoldier9 @ 71. Been to the toon once on a New Year’s Eve night and had a great time, then watched a 2-1 victory the next day…or maybe it was the game first then the NYE outing. Wife just has a real desire to see an Arsenal game…she can’t explain it. She supports the toon though…she just really wants to spend her 40th b-day in London at an Arsenal game and the fixture list couldn’t have been more obliging.

      (Quote)

  53. Dave@65,Yeh I know what you mean about the constant speculation .I see the bid from Inter has been rejected aswell.
By the way did you read Ollies piece in the Mirror ?

Andy@67-Did the chairman actually say that and was it ever comfirmed by Toon that they made a bid? I’m not sure on either to be honest . 😉
