Pushy Pardew charged by FA

Caught in the act!
Alan Pardew has until 4pm Thursday afternoon to respond to a charge of misconduct relating to his push in the back of linesman Stuart Bart during Saturday evening’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Pardew was immediately sent to the stands by match referee Martin Atkinson where he had to sit and watch the the rest of the game whilst trying to communicate to his bench.

Now I’m all for a manager showing passion and “kicking every ball” with his team, but there is a line that shouldn’t be crossed and, unfortunately, Pardew has crossed it and it was only going to be a matter of time before the FA called him up for a hearing.

Of course Pardew was apologetic in the aftermath of the game but I get the sense that he was trying to diffuse the situation prior to a charge being presented by the FA. I think he knew he crossed the line and was trying to make light of the situation which, to be fair, was comical even if it was rule breaking. I mean, watch the video below and see if you think it was a really violent push.

Having said that, rules are rules, and whilst the push isn’t exactly of the same scale as those dished out by Paulo Di Canio and David Prutton in years gone by and earned them an 11 and 10 game ban respectively, you can’t tell players not to raise their hands and expect managers to get away with the same thing. Think Jose Reina v James Perch from last season…

I think a touchline ban will be in order along with a hefty fine although I wouldn’t want to speculate on the level of either. Suffice to say that I wouldn’t be surprised if the book was thrown at us as we, and Alan Pardew, aren’t part of the “clique” that seem to be on the end of more lenient punishments.

Luckily we have a professional squad with an assistant manager who can carry out a game plan dictated to him in the shape of John Carver so I’m not overly concerned about not having the gaffer in the technical area for just a few games.

I guess we will soon find out what happens anyway…

  2. Funny enough when I seen it it reminded me of the last England manager “that I can’t even remember his name ” when he do the samething to Physco Stu as if to say did you see that.
I do think he will get about 6 games simple because they want to make an example of him 👿

  3. Yeah, kinda already said what I thought in regards to this. I’m not too surprised, but I’d hope the F.A don’t take the **** in regards to punishment, 3 matches at the most. Hope we can get some working headphones and the like ready 😆

  4. Must admit that I thought the apology was genuine rather than a cynical attempt to reduce the punishment. Personally think was a storm in a teacup and needs more of slap on the wrist 3 match ban and a few grand fine. I have seen others in the media saying that because he is a manager he should receive a stronger punishment than players so in excess of 11 matches and tens of thousands of pounds fine. However, the intent that De Canio showed was completely absent in this incident so I don’t see the comparison. I expect him to accept the ban gracefully.

  5. If Pards gets done, AVB should get done for coming out of his technical area and obscuring the lino’s view. You talk about goal line technology, but a wrong decision by a lino could cost a match, and manager’s should stay in their area under the threat of a sending off.

  6. DAVE on last thread i was talking about mesel not the car, sorry to hear about the car,i put my car in every 3 yrs dont do that mot pish 😀

  7. Also, didn’t Clark Carsilsle or whoever the hell he is promise to clamp down on cheating in the EPL? In that case I would like to see Gareth Bale banned for quite clearly cheating when the ball had crossed the line, and AVB for tolerating or indeed encouraging such behaviour.

    Thanks 😎 😆

  8. It was nothing more than frustration as a of the abysmal decision of the linesman.

No more than a 3 match ban for the linesman and a slap on the back for Pards. 😆

  9. I thought that it was out of order by pards us he should humbly accept the ban he gets. Anymore than five games is ridiculous though.

  10. @andymag

Do you really believe he’ll get more than a one match ban?

    I don’t. It seemed petty.

  11. I think it’s disgraceful. 👿
He could have dislocated his collarbone with antics like that.
Not to mention the fact they would’ve had to bring on a different linesman, with even worse eyesight than Mr Bart (sounds like fart 😳 😛 ), who could’ve ruled the build up play for our second goal out for a wrongly called offside incident before Barfa won the penalty.

    Just imagine the potential consequences……..

Yeah, joking aside, rules are rules, and if the FA start getting all pissy over what degree of force constitutes a push on an official, then it’s gona get messy.

A push is a push. Pardew deserves a touchline ban. I just hope they don’t try and make an example of him and give him a ludicrously large one. 😕

  12. I think Wenger got a one match ban and an £8000 fine for the same offence 1 or 2 years ago so really you would think he would get something similar – this however is NUFC so expect his bollocks being publically cut off with Gordon Taylor holding them.

  13. Not to change the subject but cos its not raring with banter, which surprises me, cos I always get the impression no one can get on for me, what was the craic with Marveaux?

Has he done a flit or was it rumour?

  14. Sadly the FA probably have their collective knickers in a knot over the fact everyone is singing the praises of team GB and all the sporting behaviour around the olympics. That said they will want to be seen to encourage good wholesome sporting behaviour and isn’t football made up of good honest pros who never cheat bullcrap and promptly make an example out of Pards 🙄 .Talk about bad timing . 😳

  15. Just been watching Voetbal international and they have said Douglas will be playing his last game for FC Twente this coming Sunday . He has to play to be Eligable for THE Dutch national team because Sunday is exactly 5 years that he has played in Holland he already has his Dutch passport . Their is only 2 teams in for him us and Fulham too cut a long story short the club that offers FC Twente and the player the most money gets him . I think we will know next monday if he is coming or not .

  16. KIM a lot dont like moyes but i think hes done a top job over the years cannot understand how hes stuck it there so long, gave us a seeing too last season with nothing to play for imo

  17. Troy@16 just by the mere fact that everything is so quiet coming from the club, I reckon that something is up.
Saw him pretty close up in Landsberg a few weeks ago and he seemed to have a bit of a bee in his bonnet. He seems to have a bit of edge about him.

  18. RVP on for Welbeck now, be gutted for the Toffees if he scores as they are wellworth their lead.

  21. Troy , me and thee seem to be the only ones question things at the mo. There were some blog posts on here pre-game on Saturday. There doesn’t seem to have been anything mentioned at all in the press. Funny innit ?

  22. Troy ,Someone said on a site somewhere ,could of been here ,forget now.Anyway they now one of the security guards who said once Marv knew he wasn’t even on the bench ,just left the ground. Odd that he didn’t even consider watching his colleagues if true.

  23. Troy, I ain’t heard anything about Marveaux but must admit I am curious.

I reckon it’s fairly innocuous, and on hearing he wasn’t playing, he just sped off with Scooby in his Mystery Machine to pull the plug on an evil fairground owner somewhere in the Black Country. After all, it must be difficult juggling two jobs; being an International ghostbuster for Mystery Incorporated AND a Premier League footballer.

That would make sense to me anyway. 😎

…off topic and back on again, but not quite.

Kinel, Man U well need Tiote! 😯

Paul Scholes is a fucking liability and ain’t got goals in him any more.

  24. Everton is an honest club. They deserve a lot of credit for maitaining a top 7-9 side year after year with minimal outlay. They don’t hoof it about either

      (Quote)

  25. KIMTOON that was my first thoughts too ,but it seems the player is hell bent on playing for the Netherlands or else he would of moved already . We have in our favour that we are a bigger club and much more in the limelight than Fulham . That would help the player in terms of being in the mix for selection for his national team . No disrespect too Fulham but that is the way it works .

      (Quote)

  26. Rod,Scholes , great pro but if he lives a thousand years he’ll never ever be able to tackle . 😆

      (Quote)

  27. MUNICH MAG yeah they do Martin Jol but this lad is a born Brazilian and has only lived and played in Holland for 5 years . I dont think that will influence his move . Money and the chance to play for Holland will .

  31. Kim/Andy, re. 1000 years, I heard Paul Scholes is a vampire and is already (unofficially) 427 years old.

That would explain to me why he’s only ever been based in the North of England, as direct sunlight would most certainly instigate his smokey demise. 😎

  32. If the Toffeemen keep that up they will be top 6 no probs ,really impressive tonight and a far better outfit than their neighbours.

  35. Axel – Fulham may have Martin Jol but we have Dutch internationals in Tim Krul and Vurnon Anita who would put good words in for Douglas. Plus and probably more importantly, Pardew and Douglas have alot in common … They both like starting on football officials!! 😳 😆

Honestly though, I hate the fact that I am more nervous about loosing players than excited about us signing players. I really pray that the board prove me wrong – but the sooner this pissing window slams shut the better!!! 👿

  36. …how’s this for irony.

I just cut my finger, and in the process of cutting an elastoplast strip off a roll, managed to cut a nik through another finger with the scissors. 🙄

  38. I like the feeling of knowing we’re ahead of man u in the table  . Although I’ll give credit to Everton for a superb showing tonight I felt they were helped massively by Man U failing to hit the target countless times and defending with a CM and a winger, most teams in the league would’ve beaten man u like that.

Well this being Newcastle then I expect him to get a 3 game ban and £20,000 fine from the FA.
