In with a chance thanks to Taylor

Tonight we will find out if we manage to make the Europa League proper as we face Atromitos in the second leg of our third round Europa League qualifying tie.

With the scores level at 1-1 it would be fair to assume that Newcastle have the advantage after grabbing that vital away goal in Athens last week, but we’ve been here before remember so forgive me if I put the champagne on ice for a while longer.

We’re actually on the box tonight which is great for fans who can’t go. I’m holed up in Belgium right now so a trip to St James’ Park is way out of the question for me, but if you can go then why not get yourselves down there? The tickets are cheap and are still available right up until kick-off so you still have a bit of time to get there providing you live locally of course!

I won’t waffle on too much as there isn’t really much need to. You’ve most probably read the preview, or at least another preview, and I assume most of you are au fait with the relevant injury and suspension news? Team news will of course be published below as and when it becomes available.

As mentioned earlier, the game is on TV, on ITV4 to be precise, but if you can’t get it through your TV for whatever reason or you don’t like in the UK,then why not throw a few streams into the comments section below in an effort to help out fellow NUFC fans?

Howay the lads!

Newcastle: Tim Krul, Danny Simpson, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, Ryan Taylor, James Perch, Gael Bigirimana, Gabriel Obertan, Dan Gosling, Sylvain Marveaux, Demba Ba.

Subs: Steve Harper, James Tavernier, Yohan Cabaye, Haris Vuckic, Adam Campbell, Romain Amalfitano, Papiss Cisse.

Not a bad looking team anyway. Nowt special like. Could just as easily be shit depending on how much fire they have in their bellies.

Marveaux’s disappointed me so far. Hopefully he’ll pull his socks up tonight.

(and spit his chewing gum out before getting on the pitch)

Is Santon injured? Not even on bench?

  9. 9
    AndrewT says:

I’m disappointed Gosling is starting ahead of Vuckic as well, Kid.

He has shown nothing so far, and if he sucks it up again in the first half, he should be replaced with Vuckic or Cabaye

  10. 10
    Axel says:

SJP14 maybe Santon is not even on th e bench because we do have a stronger squad than we all think ;-) or that a bid has come in for him and he is currently having a medical

    Big Dave says:

well im sure we should be able to see Atrom off without too much problems

Everyone talking about Vuckic again, assume he’s still with the same injury as last week?

  13. 13
    Cologne-toon says:

Really hope we get to see Adam Campbell for a good 20 mins or so tonight. Hope Harris gets on too. Was on a plane from Paris to the Toon with him a few weeks ago. Nice lad.

  14. 14
    Susan says:

Oh sorry he is on the subs bench

  15. 15
    Shamrock says:

May as well sell Vuckic off. Pards ibviously does not rate him. Waste if a good talent. Our development skills are shocking. Gisling has done nowt to convince me he’s a quslity player in the making so far. Time to step up. Really disappointed we are not making the most if our youth, hiw are they meant to make the srep up if they dont get game time? What hapoened to Abeid? Why we playing 4-5-1 at home? Dont agree with 1 striker at home. I’m sure we’ll quslify but wish we could show some all out attacking intent against a far inferior side. Ah well, come on the Toon ;-)

    Newkie says:

It’s our fecking match. Stop talking about man city

Any links out there yet, folks?

Shamrock, I’m really hoping it turns into a 4-3-3 as the game goes on

  19. 19
    toonsy says:

Shanrock – 4-2-3-1 according to official site :)

  20. 20
    Sharpy17 says:

Strong starting 11 and health looking bench. Big night for Marv, Gosling and Oba IMO – time to prove they are capable. Heres hoping and that would allay some of my fears that our squad isn’t strong enough.
Keep me updated peeps, I’m at graft and will miss it all

Rodz – I’m made up for you mate, you’ve been chasing that 1st all day – I’m proud of you big guy ;-)

  21. 21
    Shamrock says:

Toonsy, that would be almost reassuring if the supporting ‘strikers’ were not Gosling and Obertan! Ok i’ll stop moaning, we should still gave enough to do the job today. Bit confused about Pards’ comments though. He seems to think we are aiming dor top 4 this season. How we going to do that with no quality in depth? Hmph, moving on…

  22. 22
    Big Dave says:

    lets get it on
    Howay the Lads

  23. 23
    SJP14 says:

    I guess so Axel.

As for Vuckic I think he has been hampered by injury. I was hoping he’d kick on after playing against Liverpool last year but it just never really happened.

I know they have talked up the development program but I’m not sure how much they really believe in those kids. Abeid, Moyo, Vuckic, Campbell none of them have made the step up yet. Gosling seems to have gone backwards if anything.

  24. 24
    Axel says:

    anyone got a link?

  25. 25
    Newkie says:

Good cross by oba…could be a bit faster still but, meh.

  26. 26

  32. 32
    Newkie says:

Well there’s our first injury….tav to left back? Or Perch to left back and someone else in the middle? :???:

  33. 33

    something in the landing?

  34. 34
    M says:

    looks like an ACL

  35. 35
    Big Dave says:

    raylor looks a bad one

  36. 36

Ankle? If so, weird sprain–it’s usually the other way, foot rolling over on the outside.

  37. 37
    Newkie says:

Right vuckic, take your chance son ;-)

  38. 38
  39. 39
    Munich Mag says:

Well that’s our squad depleted of one specialist full back already… Raylor looks in a real bad way…

    Vukic ?…..interesting sub…

  40. 40
    Stuart79 says:

Surprised about that. I thought injuries were banned in this competition!

  41. 41
    toonsy says:

MM – Not as interesting as you’re trying to make it out to be

Perch to LB and Vuckic in the middle. Simples

  42. 42
    M says:

not sure how Gosling got the nod ahead of Amalfitano like

  43. 43
    Munich Mag says:

The greeks really move the ball around well. This is gonna be a tough game…

  44. 44
    Munich Mag says:

Well well, same old Toonsy. Got a blob on mate ?

  45. 45
    Munich Mag says:

Toonsy, I don’t rate Vukic. Is that easier for you to understand ;-)

  46. 46
    icedog says:

M aye mate with you there, much better at running into space too

  47. 47

  55. 55
    Axel says:

Just read that ex bindipper ryan babbel is now a free agent after buying his contract out at hoffenheim. worth a go at bringing too the toon as a squad player imo.

  56. 56
    Munich Mag says:

Wow….Obertan is really dynamite today !

  57. 57
    toonsy says:

MM – Good job that Vuckic is shit isn’t it ;)

  61. 61
    Munich Mag says:

Toonsy, you probably had to sit on your hands for 10 minutes before writing that ;-)

Sorry, still don’t rate the lad. Plus I never used the word “shit”, that was your word.

  62. 62
    toonsy says:

MM – Yeah yeah whateve zzzzzz

  63. 63
    Munich Mag says:

That’s another good chance muffed by Vukic…

  64. 64
    Newkie says:

    Well done Oba

    Goslings shot….
Still, imo he’s looked decent whilst dribbling/battling in the middle

  65. 65
    kkforever says:

were gonna be short of players ,i can see 2 players leaving tomoz and none coming in

  66. 66
    Shamrock says:

Come on now lads-Toonsy, MM – stop flirting! Vuckic is not the quickest but he has positional awareness and good feet. If he were allowed to sharpen those skills in the 1st team more often he would be excellent for years to come.

  67. 67
    Munich Mag says:

Yeah Toonsy yeah yeah…whatever….stir the site then back off…zzzzz…….

  68. 68
    M says:

Vuckic’s feet let him down in the box again. Obertan c’est bon

  69. 69
    Axel says:

ICEDOG you dont have too apologise about an opinion mate ,even if its wrong ;-) its just he never had a chance at the bindippers .In his early years at Ajax he was good but seems to have stagnated since he left their, as a free agent he would boost the numbers and provide cover .

  70. 70
    kkforever says:

Dog get them hankys ready for tomoz ;-)

  71. 71
    Munich Mag says:

Shamrock, I agree this is Vukic’s level this evening, but I’m not convinced he’s up to it for the games against the big boys in the EPL….just my opinion though and I would love to be proven wrong..

  72. 72
    Munich Mag says:

Axel, Ryan Babbell would just drain the clubs resources imo. As you said he has stagnated, especially so at Hoffenheim too. If he was good enough he wouldn’t be keep on getting peddled..

  73. 73
    Shamrock says:

Clever won corner there by Haris. The shots he messed up he got into position for in the first place, no wonder he’s a bit rusty but he has the tools, no question – puzzled why some cannot see that but eqch to their own. Obertan needs to sort his crossing out. We are looking good, but this is a 2nd rate team that have not kicked off their league campaign yet, so rusty. L the same though, it’s a good performance so far. Well done lads, keep it up.

  74. 74
    Newkie says:

    Lucky :???:

  75. 75
    Big Dave says:

we were very lucky there and krul’s a lucky lad

  76. 76
    Munich Mag says:

Shamrock, you said it yourself, this is a rusty second rate team we’re playing against. At the same time they could have scored at least once against us and had a dodgy penalty refused…

  77. 77
    funkyjesus says:

Andy Carroll has joined West Ham for season loan.

West Ham pay all wages, £1m loan fee and no option to buy.

  78. 78

I was sure the ref was getting the yellow card out for Krul

    Phew, lucky there…

It’s official. Cazza has signed for the Hammers.

Will Trumpet be big enough to apologise.

  80. 80
    Shamrock says:

MM Vuckic has been arguably our best performer tonight. By your
Logic players like this would be Ba’s level too, who is playing reasonably well, but nothing special so far. Anyway we’ll never agree on this, but that’s What opinion and debate is all about  Come on you Toon!

  81. 81
    kimtoon says:

Heart in mouth stuff with Krul that  think another day that be a pen.

  82. 82
    Munich Mag says:

Obertan has looked class today. Seems to have quickened up his decision making process when on the ball. Looking good so far, but the greeks are still dangerous on the break.

  83. 83
  84. 84
    Axel says:

Is anyone else starting too shit themselves about whats going to happen tomorrow . Its the first time all transfer window that my nerves are starting to run riot .

  85. 85
    kimtoon says:

After he said he didn’t wanna play for a team not in Europe  , they must realise he’s there cause he been forced out ,everyone knows he wanted back to the Toon .Feel sorry for him ,Liverpool have acted very badly ,he must rule the day he left Toon.

  86. 86
    Sharpy17 says:

Axel – would take him on a free like, he’s better than Ranger and would give a different option. Thought I saw something about him in talks with another club tho on Sky before I left for work.

Carroll loan to Hammers as good as done, passed medical.

Really pleased for Vukic, hope he has a good game as could feature alot this season upfront thru the middle.

  87. 87
    Munich Mag says:

Shamrock, I’ve got no problems with that mate, as I mentioned above I would love to be proven wrong about Vukic, but I’m not convinced.
He’s done well this evening against a rusty second rate team..

  88. 88
    Shamrock says:

Obertan looked class against Blackburn once upon time, then he was shite again, still think his crossing has been crap.

  89. 89
    kkforever says:

iam not worried about this game ,iam worried how many players will leave tomoz ,gooners fans saying tiote has had his medical :???:

  90. 90
    kimtoon says:

Axel@83, Honestly ,I’m past caring anymore ,what will be will be ,it’s just a sad situation with no CB in at least and now our only decent free kick taker is fecked to boot ,oh hum.

  91. 91
    Andymag says:

Just started looking at the comments, scrolling down with people saying Vuckic is shit, knowing that he’s scored  . Mind you he could’ve had a hatrick if not for wasted chances. Should have been an atromotis penalty but I’m not complaining. C’mon the second half.

  92. 92
    icedog says:

KK ive got them ready m8 ;-)

  93. 93
    Andymag says:

    Shamrock
Bar a couple of marv’s, everyone’s crosses have been shite. Obertan has played well, I commend him for ‘showing up’ today to state his claim as a PL player(yes I know it’s the Europa).

  94. 94
    SolanosTrumpet says:

    @Troy
I’m certain we didn’t mention loan deals ;-)
He rejected WHU when it was a loan with a permanent clause if they stayed up.
Accepted if he got to return to Liverpool.
Wait, he had a choice

  95. 95
    Shamrock says:

Never can truly tell with talent MM, but we’ll never find out who was right or wrong if they dont give him a chance more often… On Carroll, dont think he’s worth the money he’s on or transfer fee being asked for by bindippers, so not sorry to see him go to Hammers. We do need a good striker though, albeit one that is better value…

The transfer window may as well shut now.

It took about an hour last night to be fully depressed.

    -Taylor gets injured (covers rb,lb,rm,lm,)
    -Carroll done
-Pardew : “may have to have a word (and beg) with the chairman”
    -man utd away

FFS it’s unbelievable – what’s happened since Pardew came out and said we could get 3 players w/o selling.

Have we really just qualified for Europe and spent 3million? Is that for real???? It’s a f**king joke.

I was gonna go to the game last night but this transfer window has really depressed me that much I didn’t want to give the club 15quid. It’s a good job cos we were fucking abysmal. We really have two class strikers but we don’t create chances for them. Last seasons wonder goals dont happen every week.

All the money that comes into NUFC ends up in a black hole or FATTYS hole.

Believe me this season wil be horrible, players will be unhappy at this apparent negligance.

I know the transfer window is not over yet and we have time to get in a few new faces but looks unlikely now. I am disappointed we are not brining in anyone. I really thought we would bring in 2 as we need 2. Pardew is putting his trust in the youngsters ( regardless if we wanted to or not ) so Im hoping they can step make the difference. There would be no point in having a youth set up if the aim was not to bring on a few that can make it into first team but we are hoping 4-6 make that step up to squad member this season and that is going to be tricky. However still happy with our starting 11 and up to youth players to show their worth. The ball is very much in their court now. HWTL!

How far will we get with injuries and suspensions taking its toll? Take Colo out and our defence is championship standard.

    @Begas

Let’s see what happens. More likely a player(s) leave now than coming in. It’s almost as if Pards has been trying to break us in gently by always reminding us that they won’t turn down huge offers.

I accept every player has his price and the final decision must be judged on whether it was an offer we could not refuse.

I enjoy ticker tape day like.

    BIGPAPA says:

I would be devastated if we sell today.

What equally pissed me off, is the sh**ty bids we have made – Debuchy, Carroll, Douglas etc.

Was Pardew quoted as saying during a Charity dinner recently, “Our £7million bid (Carroll) was a bit cheeky…”

    WTF.

If we had any intention of getting Carroll we could have stumped up the widely reported £1.5 million loan fee that WHU have seemingly paid.

Then Pardew says it “was a Political move”. Has anyone heard anyone describe any transfer as Political?? :???:

  265. 265
    Johno Toon says:

Big Papa @ 258 , while I can understand your frustration over transfer window to say we were out played in second half last night is just plain wrong. We rarely moved out of second gear in the second half and when we did we easliy out played them. The team last night will have tougher test and we shall have to wait and see if we can overcome them.

  266. 266
    Big Dave says:

Funny I found transfer deadline day as the day that fans that want their club to be successful and arn’t happy at how things are going have their chance to air their views.
And it also a day for the fans that are happy to feed of whatever scraps Jabba decides to throw down to them, because he has the right to do that because it’s his club and he did safe us from becoming extinct  and its not his fault that he didn’t do DD to see that FFS got us in so much debt, so we allhave to suffer because we can’t expect Jabba to pay for his own mistakes.

Now now Dave. Those who told you to wait several weeks ago before making judgements will now tell you the money will be used in January.

    Deja vu

I’ve got to say tho, if we keep everyone it will be a major bonus as I fully expected at least one or two to leave for big fees and we wouldn’t have time to reinvest!

Surely that won’t happen again.

Hope they don’t bid for Zoggy again.

  270. 270
    BigPapa says:

Johno – we couldn’t string two passes together for about half an hour in 2nd half, we weren’t exactly cruising 3-0 up. It could be said they performed better than the 1st half which is why they dominated the 2nd half.

We were poor. Not in 2nd gear. And we had some first teamers out. Thank god Colo played though. If they were all reserves it would be acceptable.

Lets hope Pardew has give Big Mike a good old nosh this morning an we do something productive today, fear the excuse is already there with the UEFA draw

  271. 271
    BigPapa says:

ST – but they have replaced and strengthened hence why they are near the top of the league, de guzman and michu for allen and hernandez from valencia for sinclair.

It doesnt matter about £ its about improving your first 11, i think Swansea fans can and will be very happy.

Why don’t we appear to have any funds to spend?

    Johno Toon says:

Bigpapa really have to disagree about 2nd half , we were not at our best but we always looked comfortable, they did have a few chances and should of had a peno and if they ahd scored I would of been confident about getting the result. Main thing is we are in the draw for the group stages :) Now come on Messi and Ronaldo come join the toon :)

Surely that’s got to be to the substantial benefit of the club.

As for last night, I thought Bigi had a good game, and Tav looked steady. I noticed Simmo got done in the same way that Tav did in the first leg so it can happen to experienced players too.

I can’t understand Pards view that the Villa game is more important than qualifying for the Europa League, and we so very nearly messed up. Lady Luck and Lady Godiva weren’t enough to put a smile on Pards miserable dish!

I only hope that the targets we are going for at the moment are not available in this transfer window but in the January one. What happens when Ba, Tiote and Cisse leave for the African Cup of Nations? Who do we call on to lead our front line?

Very disappointed with how this transfer window has panned out, if we get any significant injuries then we may not better the position that we finished in last season.

With enough Syrup both players will remain injury free and revert back to top scoring form and it also has the chance to turn players like Williamson into the Sol Campbell of Yore.

Ashley was too busy planning to buy into Rangers to bother with the club he owns and should have more ambition for. We’re just not prepared for what’s coming. Injuries and ACoN could put a huge dent in our finishing place. Lots of good young lads in the squad now but no depth across the back 4. No depth at striker either. Why no replacement for Best and Peter?

    BIGPAPA says:

    And finally…..

Pardew saying his priority was to keep the players we have….

They’ll be as unhappy as us now in my opinion. I mean I can think of Krul, Colo, Cabaye, Cisse all saying at least once through the summer ‘we need a couple of players’.

Our players deserved a little bit of help from Fatty

  361. 361
    GeordieTwo says:

If we were going to sell 2 strikers to get the cash to buy a player why not buy a striker? Has Xisco suddenly turned into the second coming of Messi? What is this love affair with midfielders? Surely we are going to have to loan a few of them out so how does that strengthen the team for extra games? Seven out, four in what is the reasoning here? How can we hang on to fifth with this kind of performance from Ashley/LLambias?

  362. 362
    GeordieTwo says:

Sorry we actually only sold one striker but also a decent goalkeeper and let Peter go for free. Just don’t understand the thinking here. Was thinking actually involved? Maybe Llambias forgot to turn up the day the board discussed the lack of striker cover? Many more questions go unanswered. I don’t get the need for more strikers! We have 3 for 1 spot, should be fine till january.
I Think the 2 biggest needs we have are a left winger (one a’la ben arfa, right footed, so they can swap during games) and a right or left back, who is good both defensive and attacking.
That will strengthen the 1′st eleven and not just the dept.

Then we should Line up like this:
    Krul
New RB/santon staylor colo santon/new LB
    Anita tiote
    Cabaye
    Ben arfa Ba/Cisse new LW

Failure this season and no European footy next year what will begin happen with our best players??
It would be an ideal situation for fatty, surely, to have 3/4 expensive discontented players. ££

The best players wanna progress and try to win things. We are not looking to do that IMO.

Failure this season (in terms of qualifying for Europe) could lead to some massive profit for the man at the top. Is that out of the realms of possibility? :???:

I thinK they were relying on a top player being sold tbh ,I do think they wanted a couple in but only if we raised funds through selling one. That would explain Pards constant references to our top players being vulnerable to the big bids right up to yesterdays press conference. The fact Tiotes injured has scuppered their plans really. I think they know they are likely to lose Tiote for Acon ,hence Anita signing and thought he’d go this window freeing up dosh for newbies.

    @Bumbling Boris

I’ve been out playing footy. Just read your posts.
I was absolutely astounded at your comments in the Fox & Hounds.

The money will never be produced. The club will come up with excuses again like they did with the Carroll money.

Suckers like you always fall for the spin.

I’ve maintained throughout, though from our last face to face conversation, I believe every post I wrote went over your head, that the figures show that the money should be there to spend but the owner will be telling you, Anita’s agent wanted £30m.

Why do you fall for such flannel? Hmm?

This is a pretty turbulent transfer window with a lot of higher profile players moving. Scared the pooh out of our lot.

Interestingly enough it seems as if Douglas and Debuchy are staying put. Arsenal have been ominously quiet … I hope it stays that way

I think it really will be fantastic when we hold onto all of our stars. However, we do need to strengthen our squad, and that’s clear for everybody to see. Takes the gloss off the new season somewhat..

What everyone hasn’t taken into account is that it looks like we have only spent £6m on Anita but agent fees and hidden costs will double that figure.

£12m is not a bad figure is it?

Actually, on top of that, we have signed Bigi, Amifiltano, Good, so with agent fees that must be in the region of £20m.

Little Vernon – I said there was no money because it had been spent on paying down debt. The transfer pot was, and always will be, what Mikey and Lame Duck choose it to be – neither more nor less. Just because we sell a player, it doesn’t mean that money is going to be re-invested.

You said you were waiting for the Carroll cash to be spent and that the mooted Carroll,Douglas, Debuchy deals showed there was a sum of £25m to £30M available. What don’t you get about no money, no incoming transfers?

JUST EXPLAIN TO BUNGLING BORIS WHAT THE PLAYERS YOU MENTIONED TOTALLING £25M TO £35M HAD TO DO WITH YOUR POINT? You believing the money was there? Any amount of money is there on that basis i.e. if you’re prepared to increase borrowings rather than reduce them. That’s what certain ruined clubs have done.
I can’t believe you thought there was a serious chance the little rascals would spend £25M to £30M or even that you would want them to. Do you not know Mikey and lame duck by now?

You can spend, spend, spend, but fans will always want more. You get a new player in and the lustre quickly disappears; the new one simply becomes just another player who will be out of favour before too long; Alan Smith, for example. Look at the money Chelsea have spent, and look at how they were absolutely embarrassed tonight.

I think we’ve got a good first team, and a decent squad. I’m looking forward to the season, and to seeing how the squad copes. I expect every player to dig deep and play their part. As long as they do that and we stay up, I won’t mind. Anything else is a bonus. I don’t see any point in your negativity.

I’m dying to hear Pardew tell us he’s disappointed first of all.
Then we will get Lambias (no chance of Jabba speaking) telling us we made genuine bids for top players but it’s in the interest of our great club with tremendous history, (as he stands in the backdrop of the Sports Direct Arena) that we don’t pay over the odds for players.

Pards will be furious and walk out for a week then come back and tell us all we will use the January window to bolster any injuries.

NOW FOR THE BASICS OF FOOTBALL.

My views are simple, I’m simple. Football is simple. Life is simple.
We finished 5th this season. We are on the verge of the champions league.

We did this with a squad that did not have to compete in Europe.

If we did not qualify this season with the squad we had how does Pardew expect us to qualify next season?

However, Pards was interviewed on TV and stated his aim this season was to finish in the Champions league qualification,

    Where’s the logic?

My goodness grief. Mother Mary Magdalene. We finish 5th and have a tremendous opportunity to push on without spending anymore than anyone expected, IRO £20m and we spend £3m.

But you will be satisfied if we stay up as long as the squad gives everything.

Big Dave – It is fair to say I am reasonably happy with the club. When have we had players like Tiote, Cisse, Krul, Colo, HBA, Cabaye, Anita, Saylor, Ba, Marvo, Santon walking out in a black and white shirt? And with decent other players like Ober, Simmo, Perch, Raylor, Bigi?

Of course, I like to see us buy good players, and I like to ignore the financial side. However, although it is not my money and I don’t stand to lose my house if I spend millions, I do stand to lose my football club if it overspends. I keep saying Rome wasn’t built in a day. If we continue to make the same rate of progress over the next three years, I’ll be happy. I’ve seen the Makems spend £12M on Fletcher and I’m delighted for them. I’m also delighted we haven’t wasted millions on the likes of Strurridge, who is hopeless.

What’s your take on it? I know you say it was Jabba’s fault he didn’t do the due diligence, but that just means he wasn’t aware of the full amount owing. The club would have still had the debt whether or not he was aware of it.

I will add another question. How do you expect us to do between now and January with the squad Jabba has assembled?

You appear to be criticising Jabba so that he becomes the victim of his own success. You say we should do better than fifth, but you’re only saying this on the back of what Jabba has achieved; something you never predicted would happen. To lambast Jabba and co now, as you intend, is ridiculous and pathetic.

I also think this was one hell of an oppertunity for Jabba to get his plans for the club to leapfrog a couple of yrs because of our result last season, but with the extra games we’ll be playing and how thin we are as a squad I really think we’ll be very lucky to get top 6, and for me that will be a failure.
I also think that some of the top players will look on it as the club not showing the right ambition.

Little Vernon – I was the first with the questions, so answer them. You haven’t even answered my “wages cap statement” question yet.

As to your question, yes I stand by it. If the players we have, with their quality, give their all, I’ll be happy. Anything else is a bonus. JUST EXPLAIN TO EVERYONE WHY YOU ARE MOCKING ME FOR THIS? EXPLAIN IT NOW BEFORE WE GO ANY FURTHER AND YOU TRY TO WRIGGLE OFF. STATE CLEARLY YOUR REASON FOR MOCKING AND THERE CAN BE NO AMBIGUITY.

I don’t think that, even if we had spent the £25M to £30M (or is it £20M you’re saying now) that you thought we would, that we would necessarily have finished fifth or better. Its an expensive gamble.

Anyway, it might be better to identify our priorities in January. Everyone wants to blow millions on the defence now when we might have no strikers in January. We might even pick up the likes of Debuchy or Douglas much cheaper then. Can this squad not last four months?

Where have you explained why you believe the accounts which include the Carroll money have no relevance to how the Carrol money has been spent?

Where have you set out the balance you would like to strike between the club buying players and paying down debt? The only response to this was that its like your mortgage on your house; the debt is sustainable. In case its escaped your attention, individuals, companies, and governments are trying to pay down their debt because it is unsustainable. Many people who have mortgages who thought they could afford them, can’t. They have been kicked out and gone bankrupt and that’s with base rates at 0.5%. Can you imagine how many people will lose their homes if interest rates just go back to where they were a few years ago, say 5%. No football match tickets, no Sky subscriptions for the ordinary fan, but Jabba will still have expensive contracts to pay for five years plus. Its a changed world out there Vernon. Cabaye in the wake of Enrique, Nolan, Barton etc. They come for the money and they go for the money. To the extent it is an issue, they can see the progress the club has made in a very short space of time, and they are all playing with very good players around them. The likes of Tiote will leave for many other reasons if he is going to leave.

My concern is that Ba and Cisse won’t be as free scoring this season as last and we won’t do as well. This is with or without additions.

You say that “Jabba must have been a right silly fuker to jump in to buying the club without DD, that to me smacks of stupidity or greed because he thought he was getting a bargain and he knew that the other potential buyers wanted the time to do DD.” I still ask what is the relevance if the club had the debt anyway, whether he knew about it or not. Its no more relevant than if he loses £20M at the roulette table, or if he makes a personal windfall on the purchase of some company stock or other. If the valuation of Sports Direct increases by £100M is that the actions of a silly fuker? If it turns on somebody’s wealth or financial opportunism as to whether they’re a silly fuker, then I reckon you and I are whole lot sillier than him.

I am still disapointed we didnt bring in the players we needed but I have faith in the young guns , I dont really have a choice.
As I was on my phone last night I didnt make my second point clear saying Im loving some of our fans writing is off. That wasnt meant to be in terms of signings and that. But it does look like that. So my aplogies as it does look misleading. But I stand by it. I think we will be challenging for a champions league spot. I dunno if we will get it but I think we will be there or there abouts by May. But with fans writing us off I think it will lift the pressure we put as a whole on the team and it could be a benefit. I know it hyrpical of me to then say I think we will challenge for top for but Im from the Republic and we are all a bit weird down here

Well if Jabba losses in the casino thats his problem because of his own stupitity, same as buying the club with out DD that was his own mistake and he should pay for that, imo when he bought the club he also bought the debt that came with it .
But he didn’t insread of paying of the debt because it was his mistake he decide to pay it of by loaning himsel the money, which then becomes our debt but if/when he sells the club you can be sure his debt will be covered, but until then he is going to make our club pay.

The point of mentioning the players totally £20m – £25m was to show that the bids we had made so far totalled that amount.

I really thought at long last the regime may be learning their lessons and started to listen to Pards.

Clearly not. I am now waiting for the lame arsed excuses that Anita’s agent fees were extortionate and signing on fees doubled the transfer deal.
