Today Newcastle make the long trip daan Saaath to take on newly promoted Reading who are currently languishing at the foot of the Premier League table.
There should be a positive mentality going into the announcement that Pardew and Co have committed themselves to the clubs long term future by signing 8 YEAR deals – a move which was a apparently decided on the roulette table. Pards was reported as saying he is devastated it didn’t land on 36 instead, although no official reports have confirmed this and it’s extremely likely I may have just made it up in the pub.
We will also be buoyed by Papiss getting on the scoresheet again to compliment the in-form Demba Ba…who you just can’t see being dropped for this one as he was a few weeks ago, which definitely seemed to give him a bit more fire in his belly
As regular readers will be aware, I haven’t ever written the match thread so sorry if you were expecting the fantastic quality you are used to from this site and have instead stumbled across my inane ramblings. I only tend to write when I am wanting a whinge and that’s something I am pleased to say hasn’t happened been for a long time. I was mildly disgruntled at the lack of transfer activity and this is something most fans will feel as we go into this one missing Simpson and Ryan Taylor meaning someone, somewhere will be playing out of their preferred position.
We are also missing Captain Colossus after he suffered a setback, Tim Krul is still absent and Yohan Cabaye has a mouth infection so we will have to wait on him. It will be interesting to see who gets the nod if Cabs doesn’t make it….a lot of fans have been calling for Bigi so do we give him a start against bottom of the league and see what he can do or do we go with Tiote and Anita? Personally I would drop Cabaye fit or not to give him a kick up the backside…
Fortunately, we do have Perchinio whose preferred position is just being on the field…you wouldn’t see him throw his teddies out the pram even if you asked the lad to grab some gloves and get between the sticks, it’s a shame we can’t clone that boy…legend.
I hope you all enjoy the match, I will be slaving away at work but will update the team news as soon as I see it come up.
The bookies tend to think we are great value for an away win today…let’s hope they are right and we can see a Double Demba scoresheet! Howay the Lads!
