Newcastle were lucky to grab a point against the Royals yesterday and a lot of questions have started to be asked about the ‘lack of rhythm’ in the side and the clubs failure to secure adequate backup to an injury hit first team.
It’s not even like we can say Reading played particularly well either, they were shot of confidence going into this one having not won a game this season and we just look liked the a shadow of a team we witnessed last season.
There are various factors with injuries here and there involved and this Demba storm in a teacup but I just don’t understand how there can be a lack of rhythm in a squad who haven’t really signed anybody and were so strong together mere months ago.
Once again we were saved by a moment of individual brilliance (and the ball from Mr. T was canny tasty) and also an unusual handball which I noticed the Daily Mail…in one of the most ridiculously biased witch hunt articles I have ever read….had dubbed Ba-radona.
What a strike that was from Demba, the technique on it was sheer class and it’s a good job he has an appetite for goals at the moment because he seems to be the only one that does. His goal scoring record in the Premier League is superb and he currently sits on 6 for the season which will no doubt have the suitors circling in January….playing for a move away?
I personally didn’t see the match, just the highlights and saw us desperately clinging on at the end so I am not going to focus on it with a full on report, I just want to ask you guys where you think it’s going wrong. What has changed which has impacted on us so much from last season? I personally think that most of our goals are great individual efforts and there’s only one man doing it….a man who may not be thinking about Newcastle United FC for his long term future.
That’s not a slight at Demba, I like his personality and he is a fantastic player to have but the holes in the side are obvious at the moment and the midfield want to start getting in amongst the goals as in an ideal world we’d have both our Sengalese tanks firing but that has never been the case since they joined forces. Why?
I didn’t really want to get on to how I feel about the clubs recent lack of activity in the transfer market as that would be an article in itself but I know a lot of you guys…a fair few who had more faith a few weeks ago too mind you….are asking serious questions in the lack of investment. Do the players feel the same?
What do you think?
