Game On! Newcastle v Everton

Newcastle kick-off 2013 with a home game against Everton this evening as Alan Pardew and David Moyes go toe-to-toe once more.

Recent matches between the two sides have been soured due to comments made by Alan Pardew, comments which weren’t exactly well received on the blue half of Merseyside.

However this time around it would appear that the wounds have started to heal as neither manager have brought it up in the pre-match build up. Instead the run up to the match has been dominated with transfer gossip and whilst it looks like Demba Ba will be away and Mathieu Debuchy should be arriving at Newcastle, Moyes has already had to concede that he has little cash to spend and is looking for loan deals only. Hardly the most satisfying news to hear when you are chasing European football. We know how it feels…

Onto matters tonight and three points are at stake once more, three points that both sides need for their own reasons. Everton will want to keep the pressure on the top four by gaining all three points whilst Newcastle want the three points to ensure they can start to make a bit of a gap between themselves and those at the bottom of the table.

The match preview is online already and can be viewed by clicking here. It features injury news for both sides plus some stats and facts and a look at the history of meetings between the two sides. One thing it doesn’t cover is the news about Demba Ba and his permission to speak to Chelsea meaning that he won’t be involved this evening.

The game itself is on Sky which is fine for me as I’m not at the game tonight and have Sky, but for those who don’t have Sky then a stream will be needed. Once again normal rules apply and if you find a good one please share it by leaving a link to it in the ‘comments’ section below.

Which just about wraps it up. Will United come unstuck against the Toffees? Or will it be the Magpies flying away with three points this evening. We’ll soon find out…

Howay the lads!

  1. cisse played very well last night ,and was very unlucky not to score another ,how he lobbed the keeper with his header was class

  2. If your a Newcastle fan with Ba on the back of your shirt simply add ‘stard’ to the end of it… 😉

  3. I love the way a player gets called a greedy judus c@@t if the leave our world class massively respected club. It’s as if it’s a big coping mechanism for the emotionally fragile, all brave & abusive on the outside but crying inside 😳

However, if he ends up in someone else’s colours playing against us – hopefully his knee will go because he’d have a field day against our ***** defence

  4. shamrock all you have done there is take the **** out of our club sarcastic **** > world class massively respected club, hes nothing but a greedy judas c@nt that has used our world class massively respected club ,hope his knee pop like a box of rice crispies

  5. I find some of the criticism on this site rather baffling. I’m not sold on Pardew as the long-term answer, but I can’t see anyone coming in right now who would be any better.

Everton, on the other hand, are a club we should be looking to emulate. Stable management, spending within their means, steady growth. And, as a reminder, Moyes spent a fair few years yo-yoing between top 6 contenders and relegation candidates before steadying the ship…

    2002-03 – 59 points – 7th
    2003-04 – 39 points – 17th
    2004-05 – 61 points – 4th
    2005-06 – 50 points – 11th
    2006-07 – 58 points – 6th
    2007-08 – 65 points – 5th
    2008-09 – 63 points – 5th
    2009-10 – 61 points – 8th
    2010-11 – 54 points – 7th
    2011-12 – 56 points – 7th

And who here wouldn’t have Moyes in charge? With more money at our disposal, we may be able to eclipse Everton in the future, but for now let’s give Pards the benefit of the doubt. If we’re still in the PL this time next year and facing a relegation fight AGAIN then we should be looking for a replacement, IMO.

  6. Blip – Who’s calling for his head like?
Everyone knows he is irreplaceable due to the regime in place.
It doesn’t alter the fact he is a **** poor coach, with clueless tactics.
He may well turn out to be the new SAF, in the future, but I cant focus further than the end of this current season.
IF we survive the drop, then I will accept he deserves longer at the helm.
We all know we need stability, but this clown and his coaching staff are gonna take us down imo.
His plan of action is HOPE.
Hope Cisse will score many goals again
Hope the regime buy some more players
Hope we can get our sickies back soon
Hope we can keep our better players
    Hope we survive the drop.
Thats about the sum total of his plan for the next couple of months.
I said weeks ago and I’ll say it again now. I’d take a 17th place finish NOW if I could.

  7. Standing on the brink of the financial cliff , Mike , Derek and Alan stared down at the Championship.

MA to DL ” What’s the plan for this window?”

DL to MA ” We’ve sold Ba and now we can afford Debuchy , leaving a nett spend of £0, which is a wonderful window for us “.

MA to AP ” Are you sure Debuchy will be enough and that we really don’t need a new striker as well.”

AP to MA “Yes , Debuchy is sufficient and yes, we don’t need a new striker . I’ve got Cisse out wide and with Shola playing up front ,frightening the opposition with his his speed ,we won’t have a problem”

With that , the intrepid trio boldly stepped forward.

  8. Blip ,I would have Moyes in a heartbeat mate ,first class manager and always talks the truth ,see his reaction to the fouls by Fellover for that 😉 .Everton often start off ***** but it’s proof how good Moyes is that he always turns it around ,I never think Everton will go down even when they start off ****. Actually quite like the club and given his spending restraints he does amazing imo.

  9. sidekick – you missed out MA to AP “have you got a new CB yet alan ?”
AP to MA “Err I’m happy to go with what I’ve got Mike” 😳

Practice, practice, practice… a whole sentence without swearing or being abusive… 😳

A bit of a hard lad behind the key boards aren’t you… 😉

  11. Pardew has lost the plot. Ridiculous substitutions yesterday, and a central midfield which were stretched, went missing, and capitulated for the last 20 minutes.

Why did we chase the game, we should have packed the midfield and brought home one point. Nah, we play gung-ho with the worst defence in the league and pay the price. Another point lost yesterday.

  12. agreed MM
we should have took shola off @ 60 mins and put Cisse up front on his own, with 5 midfielders behind him.
The back 4 should just concentate on fucking defending ffs.
Why oh why do our defenders have to do all the attacking all the time.
    total madness.
    👿

  13. BB we need to get points on the board, and quickly.

We should set out our stall NOT to lose games. Pardew hasn’t got a clue.

  14. Pardew will also hold talks on more incoming faces today.

He said: “We have a meeting today.”

Meanwhile Pardew also indicated that he would make just one or two changes for the Brighton game and Sammy Ameobi could start at the Amex Stadium.

And Pardew says that Papiss Cisse will be restored to his central role for the rest of the season.

Pardew said: “It will all go through the middle from now on.”

    Better late than never 😆

  15. BB@395 If I were Pardew I would be a bit concerned about ‘the meeting’ today after his latest woeful performance. Hope Debuchy doesn’t change his mind after last night
