Game On! Newcastle v Reading

St James' Park.

St James' Park.
Game On at St James’ Park
The doubt has been removed and it is now definitely a case of ‘Game On’ after the match had been cast in doubt due to snow.

However it would appear that the club and the council have worked well to clear things up and enable the game to go ahead today. Whether that is a good or a bad thing remains to be seen… Ask me again at roughly 4:45pm!

You could call this a battle of the basement, a six-pointer, anything you like, but the fact is that United must take the three points if they are to avoid being really dragged deep into the mire. At the minute we’re five points clear of Reading and two clear of the drop zone. Picking up all the points today would be a massive help ahead of another crunch clash at Aston Villa next weekend.

The game today is not being shown live here in the UK, but it is being broadcast overseas so there is a chance of picking up a stream. Once again if you happen to find a decent stream then by all means feel free to leave a link to it in the comments section below.

Team news will be added in as and when it becomes available and you can see it at the bottom of the article, just before the comments start.

Which just about wraps this up. Quite topical really, wrapping up. If you’re going to the game make sure you you do wrap up and give it all you’ve got. The lads need help and whilst sometimes they have to play a part to ignite a crowd, it’s also our job to sometimes try and drag them along.

Howay the lads!

I really do hope I am wrong and Cisse scores a bucket load of goals between now and the end of the season. Yes as a striker he needs service and we have very few players who can provide that service. But just can’t get convinced with Cisse. The squad is so thin on quality that we are going to struggle to get enough points to stay up. The aim is to get two possibly three more players in this window but were going to need at least the same again in the summer. Can you or anybody else see that happening under this regime. We aren’t a big attraction no more. Don’t know if we ever were maybe toon fans are blinkered or wear black and white specs

  2. SHAMROCK @ 593 your right you can’t really compare goals from different lges but if you want to compare goals in the bundesliga Cisse played 62 and scored 37 Vs Ba 60 scored 25 😉

  3. I like Cisse. He had one of those days were they either hit the keeper (too on target) or went over the bar (not on target). Trouble for him and us though is that he is our only hope so if he’s not doing it no-one else will. Shola had at least 2 chances that he had time on the ball and scued it horribly off target. No-one seems to have mentioned this so I include it for balance. 😉

  4. My biggest concern is we sign all these highly rated players and within 12 months, we’re calling them ****.

Cabaye came in with so much hype and I don’t think he’s consistantly justified it. Cisse was a goal machine his whole career and while he had an epic start, he’s now playing like a wet fart. Santon had all of Italty saying he was the biggest prospect going and he’s not producing a lot. Debuchy will soon be “why did we chase him so long?”

The players aren’t performing – but the issue is the coaching. These guys aren’t chased by top teams for nothing. The management are removing the talent from these guys.

Even Jonas looked a real talent under Keegan and Hughton but has since dropped to a useless dibber. Obertan has so much potential as a striker/left winger/no. 10 role (even if I am the only one who thinks it) but Pardew literally see him as a sprinter. Tiote is now a lunatic who can’t play like he did his first year here.

Even if we sign this Mbiwa dude and anyone else – soon enough they will so poor we won’t make our money back.

  5. TLR I agree that at the min Cisse isn’t the best but that doesn’t make him poor as his stats will state that he is a top striker, I said before the start of the season that Pards giving Ba the assurances that he would be the main man wouldn’t help Cisse and I honestly believe that his confidence has been destroyed by that, which have resulted in him going through a bad run but I don’t think a striker that has scored 22 goals in each of the last 2 seasons proves anything other than that he is a quality player.
I just find it hard to listen to people run him down as not being a good player etc etc after the way he has been treated by Pards when he was trying to keep Ba on side , and in the end he has fuked up big time because Ba has fuked off after Pards let him dictate to him and in the process Cisse who has never said a bad word about the club or complained once suffered for it aswell 😕

Newcastle United are expected to confirm the signing of defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa early next week from Montpellier @BBCSport

  7. …Jonas hasn’t looked like a talent outside of the first 7 or 8 games for the club. **** poor player with no footballing brain and hardly any technique.

      (Quote)

  8. Dave, correct. I’m not saying Cisse is a bad player though 😀

We best not get into comparing their stats in the Prem when they have both played through the middle…..

BTW – Cisse’s record must still be about 1 in 2 in the Prem. Not bad really! He just needs a team giving him proper service, a half decent manager could sort that! 💡

      (Quote)

  9. Sham 😉 your right he can’t do it on his own we need to feed him.
Has anyone seen Rangers tweets about the fans ? Sammy has just got involved the silly boy

      (Quote)

  10. No it was this Blog ,cause the Kid said **** don’t need a CB ,but I knew they would come in as I saw them linked to him a while back.

  11. cisse was getting in some good positions, and was unlucky imo.

we need to get the opposition worrying about what cisse is going to do instead of having cisse sitting deep and defending.

before they scored, cisse dropped to play right midfield trying to feed shola! it just handed them the park; they had nothing to worry about.

pardew must be to blame for this as it happens far too often not to be a deliberate game plan.

  12. Newcastle sign Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa for €8 million from Montpellier (French reports)

We would of probably won today if it wasnt for inept defending by Willo.

      (Quote)

  13. Widespread reports in France this evening confirm Newcastle have made yet another signing from France’s Ligue 1: highly-rated Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa.

Rumours of a Newcastle move for the 23-year-old centre back have been rife for a few days with today’s 2-1 home defeat to Reading accentuating the need for reinforcements.

L’Equipe report that Montpellier have accepted an eight million euro bid for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa this evening and the defender will travel to England early next week to meet with Newcastle boss Alan Pardew and to discuss terms.

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa had been linked with a number of big clubs, including Arsenal and AC Milan, but this is believed to have been the first serious bid received by the Ligue 1 side.

  14. @Big Dave

keep us posted m8. I havent got twitter.

how ironic tho Ranger should comment about fans not turning up… lol he’s spent half of his time here in bed or in court..

      (Quote)

  15. However, Rangers has encouraged those that feel the need to jeer to stay away.

“Certain fans need to not come and support this team… Coming out to BOOO us.. Stay at home.. Don’t need ur BOO’s…. SAY NO MORE,” he wrote on Twitter. “Last thing from me… To all the fans. U are not forced to buy season tickets.. Or pay our wages.. Please remember that.

“If u are loyal fans.. Be with us.. When we are out there on the field.. Be the 12th man.. Don’t come and BOO.. That aint going to help any1.

“Team is going through rough patch.. Last thing we need is fans against us #SIMPLEREALLY.”

  16. Pardew is so slow, he has to wait until next week to speak to his captain about him leaving. It’ll be a long distance call before he gets his finger out! What happeend to the days when the manager said on the training pitch “come to my office and lets get things sorted out”?

      (Quote)

  17. Ranger should be sacked for that comment. Trouble is Pardew is now hamstrung after his own comments. 😳

      (Quote)

  18. Wait never mind my last post. It was an abeid retweet of one of his posts from a few months ago 😳 Guess abeid can see his idiocy as well

      (Quote)

  19. More reason, if it was ever needed, to get shot of Ranger IMO. The kid is a ***. The fans weren’t BOOing 1 player, they were BOOing Pardews subs. Get it? Nile power ranger? Got that? INNIT BRUV!

      (Quote)

  20. Ranger ,I hate that little ***** ,he shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team imo .don’t care how desperate we are . Why can’t Campbell be on the bench instead ,is his injury cleared up? Also is Ranger so stupid he didn’t realise it’s Pards they was booing not the players 😕

      (Quote)

  21. Oh my gawd.
Sounds like pardoh has passed the buck to the players.
They seem to think the boos were for them, when they were clearly intended for pardoh and his clown coaches.
    Laughing stock once again.
Its easy for pardoh to pass the blame onto the fans too. A cheap shot if ever I heard one.
I see only one way this is going to end.
Ashley needs to be scouting a new coach/manager asap.
Pardoh has to go, sooner than later.

      (Quote)

  22. I don’t believe the Arsenal link, but even if they do go in for him, he won’t be first team and the wages they’ll offer aren’t likely to be higher than ours.

MBiwa won’t want to sit on the bench and will probably prefer to join us, so that he can put himself in the shop window.

      (Quote)

  23. The Kid@635 ,I thought West Ham had put in a higher bid than us ,didn’t someone post that too. 😕

      (Quote)

  24. maybe losing to villa will be the final nail in his coffin.
Ashley must be sweating with the precarious position pardoh has got us into.
I said he should have gone before xmas, He has to go before it is too late.
    Dead man walking surely.

      (Quote)

  25. apparently ashley has taken over responsibility for negotiating new players.
    He wont fail, like Limpdick.
    his fat **** is squeaking.

      (Quote)

  26. as daft as it sounds, I honestly think we’ll be ok. Get a couple of players in, defo a striker and we’ll be safe. Whether Pards can take us forward is a tough one. Lets see this campaign out first.

I’d go for odemwingie as a stop-gap saviour. stop messing about in France and get a proven Prem player who’ll cost 3-4mil.

      (Quote)

  27. hopefully ashley has finally realised his best buddy is a pile of dog turd and destroying his investment.
Perhaps now that its gonna cost him money, he will sack the gimp and bring in someone who knows what he is doing.
    we live in hope

      (Quote)

  28. Mark ,either I’m going mad or I don’t know only I swear I read West Ham had bettered our offer and so they rejected ours 😕

      (Quote)

  29. yes Kim I heard that too, but it seems we have the deal wrapped up despite their so called better offer. 😕

      (Quote)

  30. Kim @ 646 yeah I seen the same but can’t remember where it was.

BB I can’t see Lambastad getting the sack, but if he did I think it’s one of the best things he could do for the club, as I have always believed that he was the biggest problem at the club I don’t think he can talk to multi millionaire players etc he is more used to talking down to poor fukers that have ran a tab up in a casino, he has no people skills at all

      (Quote)

  31. Re Haidara, the president said he expects to lose him to the PL it seems, didn’t specify which club; maybe the player has the choice, maybe only one bid accepted

      (Quote)

  32. Mohamed Diame is worth a punt. 3.5mil release clause??

Better than Tiote but also likes to roam forward..

      (Quote)

  33. Mark – don’t know why he’d move tbh and risk relegation. If he wants a move he can get one now or in the summer if he wants

      (Quote)

  34. Well seems that today the scales have eventually fallen from some peoples eyes and they’ve seen Pardew for what he is, a lying, cowardly, inept, deluded excuse for a premiership manager who has no chance of keeping us in this division no matter how many signings we make this window. The man is clueless and a disgrace to try to blame the fans who have paid their hard earned cash and given him buckets full of patience when it hasn’t been warranted. If he had any shred of decency he would resign. If he has some how managed to convince the players that the boos were for them, he has sunk lower than a snakes belly.

      (Quote)

  35. Ok not to defend Pardew’s decisions today but where’s all this about convincing the players the boos are for them coming from. No one has even hinted at that. Nile Ranger in his infinite wisdom went on a rant about the fans booing at all and its Pards’ fault that the lad talks out of his ***?

      (Quote)

  36. @Dubtoon I think some are assuming Pards had told the players the boos were for them and not his decisions. I’m sure the players would of laughed at this suggestion…

but youre correct, there is no evidence to back this up…

  37. in all my time on this blog ive never seen a reaction quite like that Deb, not that i disagree but your usually more of a voice of reason ala toonsy, stu etc! i think he should be sacked as today he lost the crowd along with the dressing room which was lost long ago. regardless i think we will look back on this game as either 1)the day pardew really lost his job or 2) the day we were consigned to relegation
