Game On! Swansea v Newcastle

Game On at the Liberty Stadium
Game On at the Liberty Stadium
Newcastle take on Swansea this afternoon as the Premier League continues in earnest at the Liberty Stadium.

The home side will be fresh from their League Cup triumph last weekend whilst United head into the game in good form after a productive January transfer window.

Indeed there is the carrot of a top ten place on offer for Newcastle this afternoon. If results at Sunderland, Stoke and Manchester United go our way and we manage to beat Swansea we could see ourselves sat in the top half of the table overnight. The down side is that such a scenario would require the Mackems to win a game and that is something I never really want, unless it really saves us from something like relegation or other such instances.

The match itself will not be broadcast live here in the UK but it is scheduled for overseas broadcast meaning there should, hopefully anyway, be a stream of the game available somewhere on the internet. As always, if you know of a good stream then please share it with your fellow NUFC fans who are trying to do much the same as you are and watch the game. You can share it be posting the link in the ‘comments’ section below.

The match preview has been up since yesterday and can be viewed by clicking here if you haven’t already had a look or just fancy having a another little run through of stuff you need to know ahead of the match. It features injury news, facts, stats and some random thoughts ahead of the game.

Team news as ever will be added in at the bottom of this article as and when it becomes available. I’ll be updating it today which is good for Big Dave but probably bad for everyone else as it means I’ll be watching the game and we never win when I watch a game. I swear I’m partly responsible for our poor form earlier on in the season!

Howay the lads!

  1. Wehey….600.

Didn’t hear much from the Laird of Alicante at the weekend…. 🙁

  2. @Kimtoon: You people have implying Demba Ba controlled team selection. Pardew played him there because he was the only thing producing Goals 13 goal return you cannot by any means be not impressed with that.

Why change a tried and trusted machine like Ba when he is banging them in like that just So Cisse can have a turn? What is wrong with Demba Ba producing the goods up front?

This is not Kindergarten where everyone needs a turn to be happy. Ba took it on the Chin when Cisse was central that did not knock his confidence. When Ba came back to the Centre it was as if he never left. Why is Cisse so special that when he does not get what he wants his confidence is knocked?

To have him score that many goals and still blame him for our poor performance is just nonsense.

@Griff, I will concede Cabaye has been pleasantly good since his return. Indeed my opinion of his has changed considerably. He just needs to get his free kicks in check. I even am ear marking him as our next captain.

His contribution since he returned has been great.

  3. MM @ 598 😯 you sure mate cause Batty is normally a very quiet mild mannered Lad that doesn’t normally wind anyone up 😆 😆

  4. Batty don’t be too hard on Michael12, he was probably on .org with Chucky when we were having the Ba/Cisse debate about a month ago. It makes no sense to go over old ground, ffs we’ll start debating the loss of the legendary Joey Barton before long.

  5. Big D @605, I was so shocked at the time I couldn’t believe it, I thought it may have been one of those fraud posters using Batty’s nick.. 😳

  6. We still have a long way to go before we are safe, and I’m pretty sure Demba Ba isn’t going to help us out of the ****.

I wonder how we’ll look if we lose to both Anzi and Stoke, because believe me that is highly possible. There are no easy games in the EPL, and anyone coming out with the “we should be beating the likes of Stoke easily” need to give there heeds a shake.

  7. Batty, Andy Cole was the best goalscorer I’ve seen at the toon, and although I’m not as old as you and Big D I’ve seen some great strikers at the toon in my time.

  8. Batts, I’ll still sleep a lot better when we have 6 more points in the bag mate..

  9. Micheal ,for the final time .When Pards decided to put Ba up front THIS season he was NOT banging them in . He put him up front because he expressed a desire to go back there even though he hadn’t scored for most of the second half of the season .If he put the player banging them in up front it should of been Cisse on form . Anyway he’s gone now so it’s a pointless debate can’t believe I bit at you’re original post tbh. 👿

  12. Kim, AC is a legend in my eyes. Feel sorry though for the bloke who got the full Andy Cole tatoo on his leg, then he got sold the next day. 🙁

“the system we played prior to cisse arriving got us 36 points of the 65.
29 following the new system with Cisse”
There’s a stat that proves **** all, if anything I think it works against you, there were 23 games prior to Cisse arriving, therefore only 15 including his debut that he could have featured in….soooooo 24 points difference in points to play for in the 2 different periods, yet only 7 points difference in the actual points achieved….. a classic case of using points to suit a particular point of view. Stats can be a useful “guide” when used correctly but can paint the wrong picture when used to twist an arguement 😉
For the record I wish we still had Ba and Cisse available, both quality strikers 😉

      (Quote)

  14. The best thing about Cole’s record was that he never took any pens… mind he has a lot to thank Beardsley for too 😉

  15. Ice@625….well…. I didn’t get this nose for hanging my glasses on …. 😳 😆

  16. Kim…They can’t anyway, they aren’t intelligent enough and as for Big Dave, whey he needs a boomerang to put his belt on in the morning 😉 😆

  22. well I’d much rather read Kim and Michael having it out than people coming on with nothing to offer themselves except to criticise Michael or to banter inanely and pat each other on the back. Nothing to stop people ignoring it who don’t like it, and to come up with something interesting themselves to start a new debate. 😉

  23. Prem @ 648 – That explains why you gave me the last word @ 565. 😆
At least your pearlers today have given me a hearty chuckle. 😆

      (Quote)

  24. Oh the childish I must have the last word response. Pity your arguments are so long boring and self contradictory. At least Troy was fun.

      (Quote)

  25. “At least Troy was fun.” 😆 😆 😆 “I’m missing Troy. I want Troy back now” 😡 😆 😆 😆 “Get Troy back or I’ll scweem, and scweem and scweem.”

Troy who had to go because he couldn’t stand being ignored. And he can’t come back because I’m on. That mature Troy, you mean. The one who coined the line, “If you don’t like it, ignore it and work around it.” You’re well suited Prem.

      (Quote)

  26. B&B….By the same token there’s nothing to stop you ignoring the criticism of Michael, the inane banter or the patting on the back if you don’t like it 😉

      (Quote)

  27. Richie – That’s what I’ve always done. I’ve said nowt until now. It’s the same old “boring” cry from people with nowt to say. And then the love in. It was just too much for me this time. I bit big time. 😆

      (Quote)

  28. Kip time for me, I can’t wait until the morning to see who get’s the last word in, I’ll put my money on B&B 😉

To be fair, both Troy and B&B can be funny and make many good points and spark debates/arguements. I think the blogs better with both of them, even if they can be annoying at times 😯 😆

      (Quote)

  29. Richie @ 654 – I do like to have the last word. Have you noticed that? I hope you’re not starting a love in mind, and you’re not missing Troy too much. 😆

      (Quote)

  30. B&B I think everbody’s had their say though, alot of it’s just going around in circles now, everyones stated their views and nobodies willing to budge so it get’s a bit pointless….roll on Thursday, it’ll be the same opinions but at lleast it will be a different match 😉 😆 reet defo time for kip now.

  31. Right, I’m going to bed now. I’ll check in the morning to see whether I got the last word or whether Prem comments on if he thinks JFK was at the top of his profession when he was here. 😆

Sorry Prem – I’ve just found some of your comments today to hit a funny spot for me – a bit like HBA39’s do. I’ve never laughed so much since I saw that photograph of John Terry holding aloft the cup on the moon. 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  32. I’m away to try and start a love in with wor lass, I don’t hold out hope though 😆
The only thing I miss is going to the match not Troy, but the blog needs characters, and you and your Troy are certainly that…all I’m saying is, “give peace a chance” 😉 laters.

      (Quote)

  33. Richie – Michael’s budged on Cabaye so it’s not all pointless. All’s I’m saying is that this blog would be pretty dull without people like Michael. 😆

      (Quote)

  34. Richie – Good luck, fella. Let us know in the morning how you got on. 😆

      (Quote)

  35. Goodnight to you too, Michael

    – Top tip: Don’t go to bed before you’ve fully digested your humble Cabaye pie. With the amount you’ve eaten, and what you’ve been through today, you’ll have nightmares about being chased by a posse of bloggers with a noose. 😆 Come back tomorrow well rested. 😆

M…Aye, he must be a genius “ITK” to post that bearing in mind it’s common knowledge the Toon were/are interested in AC. 🙄

  38. @664

he’s got previous too. Fabricated a ‘middle-eastern’ bid for the club not so long ago, though Carroll seems to be his favourite (and most successful in terms of getting peoples attention) topic

      (Quote)

  39. These ITKs must literally spend their lives waiting for news on several feeds to pop up and then add their own fabrication praying that their estimated guesses come true.

The funny part is that they don’t know a thing but are still worth while following because they spread the news quicker than the news sites do. You just have to filter out their garbage.

  40. Richie man! 😯 Never mind, another bright new day. Top tip Rich – start the warm up now, and keep it on simmer throughout the day. When you go to bed, you only need a little turn of the knob to get sizzling 😆

  46. B&B… ah, right. She usually goes to sleep during 😆 …**** me Thursday seems such along way away 😐

Andy…A decent read but he needs all the skill and technique coached out of him before he can play in the first team 😉
