Lots of questions have been asked since Joe Kinnear made his strange return to Newcastle United. One of those questions being what impact will the appointment have on Alan Pardew?
Quite correctly people have questioned whether any Manager would be comfortable working with a Director of Football. Essentially you don’t get much of a say in transfer proceedings and are told who your targets are rather than being allowed to identify them yourself. It really patronizes the Managerial position to be honest. There have been a few fans who have suggested that Pardew could walk away in disgust following Kinnear’s return to the club.
However, it would seem any talk of Alan’s departure are a bit premature as he finally spoke of his future and his intentions. In a very brief exchange with The Evening Chronicle Pardew told the fans:
“I’m staying – to take the club up the league.”
Meanwhile, Derek Llambias has resigned from Newcastle United today. The Managing Director leaves Newcastle a day after The Club confirmed Kinnear’s appointment. The news won’t be met with too much disillusion from fans, ‘Dekka’ was not a hugely popular figure with The Toon Army. He has been Ashley’s right hand man and contributed to a few rotten decisions. I recall him once saying ‘They don’t know how spiteful we can be’ whilst speaking of Newcastle’s fans. It was something along those lines.
The resignation probably isn’t a huge surprise, Kinnear told the world that Derek’s position has changed, he said this shortly after pronouncing Llambias’ name incorrectly. Although as I’m sure ‘Yohan Cabab’ will inform you getting people’s names right isn’t Big Joe’s strong point.
So one stays, one goes. What do you think?
