Cisse dispute allegedly resolved

I wonder if this had anything to do with it?
I wonder if this had anything to do with it?
It seems as though peace has been restored at NUFC, and I’m not talking about our tranquil, calm approach to incoming transfers either!

Instead I’m referring to the dispute that has been ongoing between the club and Papiss Cisse regarding his refusal to wear Wonga branded items of club clothing.

According to most of the mainstream publications (hence why I say ‘allegedly’ in the headline!), a resolution has been reached between the two parties and Cisse will now join in with the rest of the squad as they continue their pre-season preparation ahead of the big kick-off against Manchester City in just over three weeks time.

Quite what has caused this sudden resolution will be speculated about, with some media outlets suggesting that the club called in an Imam to discuss with Cisse his concerns. Of course I could just as easily speculate and suggest that the timing of a photograph showing Cisse in a casino shortly prior to this resolution may have something to do with it but who really knows eh?

All that matters in the end is that it’s sorted and Cisse will stay with us unless a big money offer comes in.You know, the ones we apparently can’t turn down. Cisse has his critics who bemoan his offsides and the chances that he misses but the fact remains that he is our number one goalscorer as things stand and we would have been relegated had it not been for his strikes in the latter part of last season.

With this latest controversy out of the way perhaps the club can now focus their full attention towards bringing some players in before they get snapped up by other clubs, as looks likely to happen with Gomis.

Maybe I’m just asking for too much though.

  1. …admittedly, our transfer activity is ****-boring and shittingly ****.

We all need to remember we have a tight-c*nt businessman, with zero ethics and inter-personal skills, as an owner.

    Get used to it.

  3. New fantasy league season is upon us. I’ve set up a head-to-head league for 20 teams. So far, I’m the only one there – Newbriscastle Roar. Code to join: 503845-165007.

First 20 wins the cigar. The h2h leagues are far more interesting than the general league.

Just wondering as well: how about a h2h league with, say, a A$20 joining fee (or more if you so wish). Winner takes all. Would anybody be interested in that? If so, I’d see about setting up a Paypal account. Of course you’d have to trust me not to do a runner with the cash. But I assure you that I’m a trustworthy character and I’ve got enough in my bank account not to have to worry about a few hundred bucks. 😀

  4. Oh yes, I should mention that the league is called NUFC Premier League, and it has a 3 week knockout tournament for the final 3 weeks of the competition. So, if my reading of the rules is correct, you can still become champions if you are in the top 8 going into the last 3 weeks.

Aussies will be familiar with this set up.

      (Quote)

  5. D’oh! So this means that there are only 35 games in the season. If you are top at the 35 game mark then you are premiers. Then comes the knockout phase to find the champions – a kind of mini cup competition, presumably 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5. Don’t know what happens after that. If it runs how the A-league works, then the highest placed team will play the lowest placed team in the semis.

At least that’s how I understand it. I may be wrong.

  6. so Mike is giving 2000 staff £75k each in shares while 20k are on zero contracts with no hols or sick pay 😛 .. classy indeed. just shows mike is in touch with the average joe and could be classed as one of us 😯

  7. Pards is playing a blinder by shifting all the blame on Jokey. 😛

“Graham Carr and myself have given Joe (Kinnear) our targets…but they’re difficult to get over the line and I’m sure Joe’s trying to be very patient in trying to get the right player for us.

That has been no problem. Joe’s job is to make sure that I get the support I need and he is trying to do everything he can in order to do that.”

It is obvious that we need a player or two and hopefully he can do that that. We are in good shape and we have a strong squad, we just need a little tip over the edge to give us that depth we need.”

      (Quote)

  8. Pardew isnt shifting any blame imo. Kinnear made it quite clear when he arrived, hes in charge with getting the players in.

I thought this was common knowledge

I apologise for my inadequate grammar.

I should have wrote he’s making sure the fans know who’s responsible for transfers and piling the pressure on Jokey.

Pressures back on you now Marky as I’ve shown you up as being responsible for nit picking. 😛

  11. So now that we have all but pulled out of the Gomis deal and Villa are back in for Bent ,who will we go after to solve our striker problem 😕 . Think we may be suffering with all eggs in one basket syndrome again 🙄

      (Quote)

  12. I thought you’d be happy with that, Kim. Weren’t you saying we should pull out?

    Might just be brinkmanship, though.

      (Quote)

  13. Bris ,Yes I’m happy ,I think it’s the right call ,just wondering who we will get in that’s all .Trouble with us is we get tunnel vision and concentrate on the one target when their could be other options. It’s the same with Remy ,QPR have made it clear they want to sell not loan so just make the enquiry and if it’s a no move on.

      (Quote)

  14. How are we on the home grown player quota ,seems we are only looking at foreign players . 😕

      (Quote)

  15. Bris ,I have always liked him he’s very under rated by a lot of people ,but I would be made up if the Toon could nab him .

  16. Troy – Pardew plays a very dangerous game IMO. If JFK gets 2 or 3 in – even though Pardew has said one or two, and we start **** then what’s the chances of JFK saying ‘well I done my bit and got him the players he wanted’.

But it’s an interesting arguement though – who is the problem JFK, DL or MA? – or is it the scouting?. Why are we the only PL club yet to make a senior signing, and why do we seem to make such hard work of summer transfer windows?!.
Are we now considering postponing the Gomis signing til Jan coz then he’d only have 6mths left and would be cheaper again, and we’ll just have to get by for the first half of the season again.

New article. New article. New article please please please. I’m gonna loose this one

      (Quote)

  17. Sharpy ,it’s Debuchy all over again isn’t it. Would he be worth the wait I’m not so sure .

      (Quote)

  18. Prem – nowt been said about Ideye for a while now has there?, I think that one must be dead in the water now.

Kim – I understand that there has to be a limit, but when we NEED players there has to be some flexibility. Norwich only wanted to pay £4m for Hooper but ended up paying £5.5m for the player they wanted. Swansea did the same with Bony.
It’s not ideal but we can’t keep shopping in the bargain basket. Gomis should be an easy enough transfer to get sorted, with the club wanting to sell and the player wanting to move to us over other interested clubs. Yet we’ve spent the last fortnight or so pissing about over the transfer fee.

      (Quote)

  19. Sharpy ,yep it is a pattern we keep repeating but the fact is knowing he only has that year left will up to a point dictate what clubs are willing to pay. There are supposed to be 3 clubs including us in for him yet I see no other bids being mentioned other than ours.

      (Quote)

  20. Kim – I really don’t care if there are other clubs interested or bidding or what. Pardew has put forward Gomis as a player we want, Lyon wants to sell him and the player wants to join. I accept a bid of €8m (£6.8m) has been made before people start jumping on me but clearly that isn’t or wasn’t Lyons asking price which I think is closer to €10m (£8.6m). I know there will be haggling and us trying to get the best price, but really it shouldn’t be taking this long IMO. Also, I’m referring to only 1 transfer target – the fact remains that we have yet made a senior signing.

      (Quote)

  21. Sharpy ,Honestly mate I understand your frustration but if no other clubs are actually bidding then Toon hold all the cards I would of thought. It’s a good offer which SSN say is left on the table , the closer the window end comes the more OL are likely to accept it imo as they face losing him for a lot less come jan 14. The other question I have is WHY no other concrete bids for him 😕 Could it be other clubs don’t value him at more than our offer ,who knows.
Got to nip out now mate speak later .

  22. Found this on Toon Forum. A guy who has posted over 2000 times on there just posted this from his mate. May be a load of rubbish but does make sense.

morning chaps. Hope you are all fairing well.

A chap I know has a brother high up in the NUFC structure and has called a few things right over the years in terms of insider info etc.

Apparently Ashley is livid with JFK for a few reasons:

-JFK is loathed by most chairman and agents who refuse to speak to him on transfer matters
-The press despise JFK for his historical rants and are trying actively to undermine the club… thereby reflecting badly on MA
-The French detest JFK and refuse to speak to him on transfer matters (Charnley is in the box seat on the Gomis deal now)
-Two top NUFC execs have already quit over the way JFK acts around the club

It’s clear MA is regretting the appointment of JFK and that it is BECAUSE of JFK that nothing has been moving in the transfer market by now.

Apparently JFK (who is on really low money) has been told he has 2 weeks to get the required players ‘over the line’ otherwise he will be sacked.

The above kind of makes sense to me and I reckon MA has rushed in yet again and is now paying the price.

Remy deal DONE, loan deal to #NUFC currently in Newcastle. Media outlets & local press will soon be confirming JK’s 1st signing

Looks like we wont be signing him then.

i wasnt being fastidious m8. like i said I thought it was common knowledge Kinnear was doing the player recruitment.

if anyones nit picking its you with pards comments, standard comment i’d expect him to make 😛 😉

      (Quote)

  25. Albert – that all makes a kind of sense and we could all have guessed as much. JFK’s been surprisingly silent too which none of us suspected.

We’re such a strange club these days. Desperate for a few new faces we can’t even sign players nobody else wants. Maybe that’s the way it’s always been. Nobody else wanted Cabaye, Tiote, Sissoko, Cisse etc and in hindsight maybe they’re all overrated. I just wish for once we’d go out and sign a genuinely class player. We can afford it!

      (Quote)

  26. you might as well get used to it stuart79. expect nothing from kinnear and ashley then you wont be disappointed. we are a bottom half premiership side. might as well keep ameobi as a replacement is to much hard work for joe and money for ashley. blame the likes of manchester city and chelsea for ruining the game

  27. All headlines are now suggesting we’ve pulled out the Gomis deal. Now there’s a surprise. 🙄

  28. Is pulling out of the Gomis deal just a flamboyant mid-negotiation pose to say “look, we really will pull out, so get real,”?

      (Quote)

  29. @Kim

You may well be right. It’s just Cab is similar style to Fab than Fellini.

And Moyes is a big admirer of Cab.

    @ Alberts Tash
I divvent believe that like. It’s too simplistic. We all thought that about Jokey without being ITK and Ashley doesn’t think along the same lines as ordinary people. I reckon Ashley thinks he’s doing his job perfectly.

He surely brought him in to undermine Pards. Sell player. And buy nee one.

He’ll be on a low basic but he’ll be worth a fortune now by hitting his bonus targets. 😉

  30. I know Troy it is a bit of a wild rumour but you never know with our club nothing amazes me.

      (Quote)

  31. So Remy not on Tyneside. Gomis deal now off too.

Great start to the week then. Honestly would like Gomis over them all. As we are going to be playing Cisse + …. ?

People saying we can leave Gomis and just go for Remy?

What if he is convicted on his rape charge?

Would personally play this team against Man City

    Krul
    Deb; Colo, Mbiwa, Santon
    Benny Sissoko Cabaye Marveaux
    Amoebi Gouffran

  32. Well so much for JFK input ,things moving at a snails pace even by our standards. I think he’s hindering our progress not helping it ,football connections my **** ,silly old fart .

      (Quote)

  33. Well I wonder if JFK will pull his finger out this week and start doing the job he was brought in to do. Less than 3 weeks till the start of the season and he has still done fuk all except to make us even more of a joke

  34. This is the first time i have seen Newcastle making no progress in transfer moves and is ending July. 🙄 🙄

Latest is Remy loan deal. 😕

      (Quote)

  35. Jokey clearly believed he needed assistance in identifying targets in the lower leagues and tried to persuade Harford to join.

Is that just forgotten about? Does he not need any help now? Is Harford the only scout he wanted to work alongside? Why?

I find it astonishing a club of NUFC size, can’t get another scout in to work alongside Jokey, if that’s what he wanted. Or did he? Or did he just want to pull an old pals act?

What hope have we got to progress and buy top players if we can’t even get a substitute for Harford at the drop of a hat. 😯

      (Quote)

  36. How infuriatingly predictable was the withdrawal from the Gomis chase after Cisse made his piece and Ameobi shows a brief flash of form in front of goal, surely they cant stick it up us in another window, 3 weeks to go before kick off and the silence is deafening.

      (Quote)

  37. Kim I’m sure Caulkin hinted recently in a article that someone was holding up deals. Obviously Kinnear.

      (Quote)

  38. well Jokey must have some quality lined up for him to talk about Champions League footy 😯 😆

  39. Mark – Joe thinks that CL football is a board game. Caulkin hinted that it was Pardew holding things up.
Don’t know what ‘s happened to my club. It’s sleaze and tat all the way. Can they not even sign one player? Or are they waiting as they save a fortune on wages during July and August. Probably but they better pray there’s someone left to sign.

      (Quote)

  40. Well thats another target we can forget about , PSV Eindhoven have made Jeroen Zoet their first choice keeper for the new season .

  41. Kim my youngest worked in JD sports and it was the same there too with zero hr contracts etc,
Jabba got a lot of high praise because of the 2000 + workers that got good bonuses and shares but on average there is less than 3 workers in every SD that qualify for the scheme.

Axel I think we will have to forget about a lot of targets

  42. Dave ,it’s almost slave labour really ,can’t imagine working in a job without paid holiday and sick pay. It’s not something I’ve ever experienced thankfully ,although you could argue my present set up is a bit like that except there’s no holidays at all lol ,it’s a labour of love though.:)

      (Quote)

  43. So to sum up the headlines for us today are
We pull out of race for Gomis
    Nike spell Cisse name wrong
We want to loan Remy (fat chance)
    We lose out on Zoet
And our owner is officially a ***t
    🙁 🙄 🙄 🙄

  44. Everything is going to plan so far other than Pardew walking. Ashley is doing his best to oust him but Pards is like Montgomery on the battlefield.

Pards will get the England job if he continues to play the game. 😎
