Video: Kinnear on Gomis, Remy etc etc

Joe Kinnear has opened his mouth again, although this time what he had to say was more interesting rather than cringe-worthy. Have a look…

Seemingly we are close on a couple of players, namely Loic Remy and Bafetimbi Gomis although he did concede that the situation with Gomis is “difficult” and is ongoing.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the interview is the revelation that we are still in for Darren Bent and still have a reasonable chance of signing the Aston Villa forward contrary to reports the other day which suggested our offer wasn’t deemed good enough by either club or player.

He did admit that the striker situation is the area of most concern and is the priority that is being looked at in this window, but he also admitted that there is another area of the pitch that is being lined up for strengthening.

The thing is this is Joe Kinnear and these are just words until I personally see some action. I have no doubt things are difficult when it comes to negotiations but Joe has a bit of a track record of rewriting things or bending the truth.

As ever I’ll wait and see…

  1. @MsiDouglas: Player has undergone lengthy medical but loan deal (as good as) tied up. Option to buy in June ’14. #NUFC

  2. Am I reading this right?!, we’ve spent the last few weeks kicking off at the lack of signings and now their coming were complaining about their nationality?! 😕 🙄

      (Quote)

  3. Note they are also the wrong players bought at the wrong prices and played out position by a manager described by a FOOL

      (Quote)

  4. SHARPY reading your comment at 142 it looks like you think the same way though m8 . I also agree it would be good to off load those 2 and i am over the moon we have finally got a bloody good striker in even if he is another frenchie 😉 😆

  5. Axel – I mention Obertan and Amalfitano for Ince and Townsend coz its 2 ***** French players on our books for 2 decent young English players.
But that’s because of the FIFA regulation more than anything else mate.
I want the best possible 11 players playing for NUFC mate – that’s it.

  6. Sharpy I will be happy to see us strengthening the team, but that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t have concerns about the amount of french players that we have, I would prefer to have more British players and I really don’t see the problem in stating that.
would you not be concerned if in the near future we field a team full of foreigners ❓

      (Quote)

  7. Just watched a ten minute cameo of Tom Ince and on that evidence he is nae better than Obertan or Sammy

      (Quote)

  8. I just cant get me heed around signing Amalfitano ,could it really be they mistook him for his brother that plays for OM . I haven’t seen ours play but from what i have read he really is **** and it says something when he cant even get on the bench ahead of kids when he is about 24 years old .

      (Quote)

  9. meant to add IMO British players normally add a bit of grit that is sometimes needed, which I thought was missing last season in most of the french players in some games last season when it got cold wet and dirty

      (Quote)

  10. Mark yeah and some don’t know if they’re happy or not as they are fluttering between the 2 when they’re not sitting on the fence .

      (Quote)

  11. whooo hooo uncle Troy would be proud of that one 😉

I dont think I’ll ever be happy with MA but any kind of signing that will improve the team, I’m well happy. that has never been in question.

Youre so unhappy at times you are now thinking there are conspiracies going on between MA and JK 😆

  12. DAVE could we be a little hasty in judging these onion men as they have came out and said the pre-season was the reason they looked unfit and training was to easy, but it is a lot tougher this season,we both said they were out on their feet after 45min last season, nowt wrong with a bit british grit like, but lets see this yr

  13. Well I’ve been waiting all day as Remy was supposed to be done today and I’ve been let down.

    Surprising really 😆

  14. I’d love to have 11 geordies on the pitch but the fact is the English youth system is gash and the sporting culture in our country is gash, along with the work ethic really. Gone are the days when boys will grow up and represent “their” club for all, or the majority of their careers. Even the big clubs with top recruitment and youth systems usually end up buying their young english talent from elsewhere while their academies are stocked with young foreign players and the like.

I’m happy with a best 11, although I do agree with Dave that I think we have lost a bit of spine with the influx of the frenchies. Not to say we had spine when we got relegated mind you, but we just don’t seem to have found “Ballsy” players from france, and Debuchy oversteps the mark and goes into Chopper territory. Personally I don’t see why we don’t have Carr in Spain or Germany Italy or South America, Spanish players are dirt cheap and in all honesty are playing at a higher level. German players would be well suited to the PL. Just don’t get this obsession with France 😕

    @BD
thats a bit of a conspiracy m8. JK won’t buy the players AP wants so AP leaves and JK can nick his job 😛

Mark where did I say JFK wouldn’t buy the players Pards wanted ?
or is that one of the add ons for greater effect that I was talking about

      (Quote)

  16. Remy now in. Gomis sometime this week. That’s our strike force taken care of. Campbell out on loan. The mackem slayer and cisse for back up

      (Quote)

  17. Dont u think kinnear is after AP’s job. and him and MA are in cahoots to get AP out? so JK can take over… the masterplan?

anyway, whatever m8. can’t be bothered to go back and forth..you have admitted before youre a neg…

      (Quote)

  18. Sharpy I see where your coming from but if JFK wants back into football management and is only doing the DOF job to get back into the game ( his words) why would he make Pards job even easier and safer by getting him the players he is asking for ??.

  19. Ice @ 169 it was obvious that they were lacking in fitness more so when Strolla and Jonas looked like heavy weight boxers 😆 but there was times that they just didn’t look as if they were the type of guys I would be wanting to watch my back when the **** hits the fan 😉

Toonsy good to see you on me old bean

Newkie I agree, the problem with some of the happy campers and the in betweener on here is that if any of the so called neggers voice a concern it’s that we are not happy with this or that blah blah blah and we should be happy with what ever we get .

  21. “I’m very happy to be a Newcastle player.

“It will be a huge honour to play for such a big club. I was very flattered by the Club’s interest in me back in January and also very happy that they showed interest in me again this summer.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and that’s where I want to play.

“I am very motivated this year to get into the World Cup squad for my country. I know in order to do that I need to have a big season and a successful campaign with Newcastle United.

“I am focussed on helping the team achieve success this season and scoring as many goals as I can.”

Newcastle United’s director of football, Joe Kinnear, added: “The need for us to strengthen up front was a priority and I have been working very hard to secure one of our targets in this position.

“I’m delighted to have secured Loic for the season. Now we have him I’m sure he’ll be a huge success for us; I know he’s hungry for goals and is absolutely committed to helping us achieve success this season.”

Manager Alan Pardew said: “Loic is a great player and I’m delighted that Joe has got him on board for us.

“He’ll be a great addition to the squad, he gives us strength and pace up front and I’m sure he’ll bring plenty of goals.

“It’s a big season for Loic, like it is for all our international players ahead of the World Cup, which will only provide extra incentive for him to play at the very top of his game.”

  22. Mark @ 176 incase you didn’t work it out it was a question that I asked Sharpy ,
“why would he make Pards job even easier and safer by getting him the players he is asking for ??”

I thought the question marks would give it away ❓ so why then say that I said he wouldn’t get Pards the players he wanted Mark

      (Quote)

  23. ❓ So..why would he make Pards job even easier and safer by getting him the players he is asking for ??

Ive always liked the taste of windows but I dont understand your question to sharpy..

      (Quote)

  24. Well I am glad to see we got Remy as I do think he will be a good player for us and I think if we had of got him in Jan we wouldn’t have been in the dog fight for aslong as we were

      (Quote)

  25. DAVE lets hope joe doesnt need another holiday after all that work, theres still a lot to do 😀 😀

      (Quote)

  26. Mark I dont understand why you made it up that I stated that JFK wouldn’t get the players he wanted 😯
I guess the fact that Sharpy never asked meant that he understood the question I asked and the point I was trying to make 😉
maybe you should stick to making up stories and telling tales 😆 😆 😆

      (Quote)

  27. DAVE we dont know how wide that line is that pardew keeps talking about thats the prob mate 😉

      (Quote)

  28. Dave – which English CF would you rather see come in instead of Remy or Gomis?, coz were going for Bent and nee sod wants him 😆
There’s nee problem in wanting less French players in with the amount we have but this crack of wanting local talent in just makes me laugh at times to be honest. Waddle, Gazza, Clark, Shearer, Watson and Howey all have more than one thing in common ….. None of them started and finished their careers at NUFC.
But Harper did (pre his retirement reversal) but hardly ever played.
Oh, and there’s Shola! – and there’s plenty on here want rid of him as well!.
Then there’s Steven Taylor – who’s another who is regularly slated on here!.
    Sammi? …. He’s ***** too apparantly.

Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to see the likes of Campbell and Streete to come good, but if it was between Streete or Kurt Zouma – Zouma every time for me, why?, coz he’s a better player, and it’s as simple as that mate.

Rob Lee and Peter Beardsley are my 2 favourite players of my time supporting the toon. I agree it’s good to have English players in the team and I honestly think Ince and Townsend as good young English players who I’d love to see join us.
But the truth is, most on here were saying Ince was way too expensive at £8m.

French or not, Remy and Gomis will improve our squad and that’s what I’ve been desperate to see happen this summer.

      (Quote)

  29. sorry Dave. lol i’m still confused but if I got the wrong end of the stick i’m weely weely sowwy 🙁 😉

  30. So it’s official then ,we have made a signing albeit a loan ,lets hope he’s with us beyond September when the CPS decide if he has a charge to answer.

  31. Dave-shut up you negger! 😆

Nah I know what you mean though. I hope it doesn’t turn into a slag fest between neggers and whoever after the window because that **** is really boring, it was boring three or four years ago and it’s only gotten worse. We’ve signed a good player in Remy, hopefully we’ll get two more in before the season kicks off and then we should all have something to look forward to when the season kicks off 😀

      (Quote)

  32. aye, same goes mate. my pal mentioned him a few weeks ago and I took the **** as I dont rate him that much. It appears a lot do tho. Maybe i’m missing something..

      (Quote)

  33. Mark – you wouldn’t take him?!, but he’s English! 😛
Mind that said, Downing or Obertan – it’s Downing every time for me but that doesn’t mean much like 😆

      (Quote)

  34. SHARPY i know you like ince and sinclair, ince 8mil no thank you plus i dont think hes ready for PL yet from the games ive seen him in,on sinclair as ive said before the kid needs a opp to remove a rib and has a blood clot prob, hence why he played little at m/city they dont know when is the best time to do the opp i hear,he is a canny player like

      (Quote)

  35. Lallana or Mirallas or Maloney. I also think Sinclair would be ok. If we’re going doon the cheap lane. Robert Snodgrass

      (Quote)

  36. Ice – it’s Townsend from Spuds I’d take over both of them to be honest with you mate.
Ince would be ok at 8m I reckon coz I think he would make the grade given the chance, and I see him at Man City or Chelsea for £30m or something daft like that one day.
But Townsend could be got for about 4-5m now and could well be the answer to our left side problem.
I don’t think we’ve ever been linked with Townsend though, but that’s who I’d be happy with

      (Quote)

  37. is Townsend that good though? he looked good in a few games towards the end of QPR’s season.

I havent seen enuf of him to make a proper judgement like. How much is he worth?

      (Quote)

  38. By the way – well done JFK in getting Remy over the line – already done what DL couldn’t 😉
I’d be interested to know if the deal DOES come with the option to buy and just how much for.

      (Quote)

  39. Mark – it’s just my opinion but I think so. As good as McCarthy IMO and like you said he only got better playing regularly for QPR.
I honestly reckon that we could get him for £4-5m tops.

      (Quote)

  40. SHARPY dont shoot me as ime not 100% yet,but there is a 9.5mil buy out clause in there, but dont worry ime sure arry will let everyone know in time

      (Quote)

  41. See we’re heavily linked with Downing now? We are supposed to be looking for a left winger so I think the link makes sense. Not too sure about him though…

      (Quote)

  42. SHARPY i like townsend and maloney, but where would we fit them in,imo we need a out and out winger that can cross a bloody ball

      (Quote)

  43. Ice – if the kid does score 15 goals plus next season that would be a fair price I reckon.
I can’t say I’m convinced that he will sign on a permanent basis if I’m honest – I don’t know why, but I reckon he’ll do a good job for us next season anyway.

      (Quote)

  44. MARK thanks for the link mate, knew he had good pace,he can heed a ball too, just need a winger now that can cross as i think he would lose a lot playing on the wing, but who knows where doe-heed will play him 😕

      (Quote)

  45. Ice – we only need wingers in a 4-4-2 formation though I reckon. So if Pardew goes for his 4-2-3-1 I’d go with:

    ————- Krul ———–
    Deb – Colo – MYM – Sant
    —– Cabs —- Siss ——
    Benny – Remy – Townsend
    ———– Cisse ————-

      (Quote)

  46. SHARPY i forgot to say toon /remy can make the move perm in june if they agree its part of the deal 😉

      (Quote)

  47. Stu – as much as I don’t fancy Downing, have to be fair and say that the lad has more to offer in the way of an end product than both Obertan and Jonas put together.
    €5.8m equates to around £5m and he’s 29yrs old.

    http://uk.search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A7x9Qfg1GwBSRjsAHgZB4iA5;_ylu=X3oDMTE0aDNrajlxBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMzcEY29sbwNpcmQEdnRpZANNT1VLMDFfMQ–/SIG=12u39lnvj/EXP=1375767477/**http%3a//www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/stewart-downing/profil/spieler_4063.html

He’s not for me at all to be honest.

      (Quote)

  48. @Ice. no probs m8

I’d play wingbacks in a 5 man defence, ne midfield just 5 attackers 😆

    Krul
    Colo – MYM
    Debs – Cabaye – Santon

    Benny Sisoko Marv
    Remy
    Cisse

      (Quote)

  49. Ice – I don’t know why but I think Remy will look to go elsewhere. May be wrong and hope I am but it’s a gut feeling I have.

    http://uk.search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A7x9QbwaHABSoxwA8VZB4iA5;_ylu=X3oDMTE0Mm1sNDBiBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDNDIEY29sbwNpcmQEdnRpZANNT1VLMDFfMQ–/SIG=12v3dhigc/EXP=1375767706/**http%3a//www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/andros-townsend/profil/spieler_61842.html

Tell you what, based on this I may be placing too high a value on Townsend based on this like. Maybe he could be got for as little as £2-3m 😯
