Game On! Newcastle v Leeds

Game on at SJP!
Game on at SJP!
Newcastle take on Leeds at St James’ Park this evening with progression to the next round of the Capital One Cup on the agenda.

On paper Newcastle will be favourites to overturn Championship side Leeds United, but we were favourites on Saturday and have been numerous times against so-called “weaker” opposition in cup matches in recent years and quite often we’ve come out second best.

With Alan Pardew promising a strong side ahead of the game I’m hopeful that we can avoid such a scenario again but this is Newcastle United and you can never be sure if we’re going to turn up or not. Turning up would actually be a start and would give fans something to get behind and in my opinion we’re going to need more than one goal to win it in conventional time although I’m half expecting extra time and penalties to decide it.

The match preview is online and has been all day so if you haven’t already done so then please make your way to the previous article and have a look at a history of the fixture, some stats and facts and injury news for both sides.

Once again we’re not on the TV here in the UK but we are being broadcast overseas so chances of picking up a stream are high. Normal rules apply so if you happen to find a decent stream then please post a link to it in the ‘comments’ section below.

  1. Also, just out of interest. Next week, it will be two years to the month since we last scored from a corner kick. 😯

  2. MM,
Shola is our only other choice of striker, so if you had a choice between him and Cisse who would it be.
If you’d pick Cisse, then why constantly complain that he is in the team?

  3. JJ, Goofy is a striker though, not a winger. He’s been playing too far out wide for me. Shows our lack of depth which has been going on for fkn ages. Players out of position domino effect.

  4. Don’t be silly Kim it’s only Pards who can’t handle Europe. Great managers like Laudrupp never make mistakes

  5. JJ@164, what are you on about mate ? You brought Shola into the equation not me 😳

In my opinion, Cisse has been twatful the last 4 months.
Cisse is the better option than Shola…

What is your point exactly ?
Is it that Cisse is better than Shola, and because we have no other options we shouldn’t be allowed to criticise Cisse ?

  6. Prem@179 😆 😆

Be careful what you say of the Messiah Prem, there’s some round here who would have you in chains for that remark.

  7. Obertan shoots straight at the goalie again. I was hoping he would score so we can sell him in January even if it spoiled my fantastic prediction!! 😆

  8. Pretty standard win few good performance’s but we didn’t really get out of first gear.

Which is pretty good i guess. Thats how it should be against poor opponents.

  9. @G2

I predicted we would only win by one or two goals so i guess my prediction was right as well. Gee whiz im awesome 😛

  10. Well that did us all a world of good I suspect. I’m feeling much better. It’s only Leeds in the league cup I know but some decent performances in there from what I saw. Obie can’t score and Willo still looks scary at the back though.
