Game On! Newcastle v Liverpool

St James' Park.

St James' Park.
Game On at St James’ Park
It’s an early start today as Liverpool visit St James’ Park in this Saturday lunchtime encounter.

United will be keen to banish the memories of last season and the 6-0 defeat inflicted upon us by Liverpool but to do so they will need to be at their very best.

Liverpool have started the season well and occupy second spot prior to kick-off, but a point will take them top ahead of Arsenal albeit that may only be the case on a temporary basis depending on their result against Norwich at the Emirates. Anyway, it’s far too early in the season to be worrying about league position… Isn’t it?

News of injuries for both sides, some stats and facts and a history of the fixture are available to view in the match preview which was posted yesterday and can be viewed via the links at the bottom of the article. Team news, as ever, will be posted in below as and when it becomes available.

We are being shown here in the UK on the new BT Sport channel which is a first for us I believe. Overseas we’re being broadcast on a load of channels throughout the world so picking up a stream will, hopefully, be simple enough. If you do find a good one then please don’t be shy with and leave a link to it in the ‘comments’ section below.

That’s just about it really. No need to babble on any further so I’ll leave you all to “go with the flow” as it were. I just hope that we aren’t left talking about another horror show come full-time.

Howay the lads!

  1. Ben Arfa was effective but in the Shola style of hold up play and confusion. It took Liverpool an hour to figure out how to play us with him as striker, the ploy worked.

  2. G2 – we can laugh at the mackems if we stick it to them next week. I hope we (Pard & the players) don’t get cocky after today and think coz the scum are doing badly that we’ll walk it – the mindset we had against Hull for example

  3. Plus I’m certainly not feeling any more confident about the derby next week. You can never rely on anything in that game!

  4. Toonsy – wasn’t Joe at the Swansea/Scum game today as well?. Hope he wasn’t on a scouting mission for AP!. So Joe, what do you reckon?. Al give the lads the week off, the Scum are *****!.
Thanks for the feedback Joe!. 🙄

  5. Just watching a replay of the toon game today, with the commentators making so many excuses for the Liverpool players who played international games in midweek, being “leggy” and “tired”. From what I recall only 2 Liverpool players played for England, and that was at Wembley… Tiote travelled all over darkest Africa last week, and put in an IMMENSE performance today. The bloke was all over the place. In addition Debuchy, Cabaye and Remy were all on international duty too.

What is it with these damned commentators trying so hard to cover up for average Liverpool players 👿 👿 👿

    TTBAWA !!!

  6. Gouffy played exceptionally today. Covered DeBitchey’s **** on several occasions.
Was watching the lads coming back out for the 2nd half, all the lads were jogging out and getting the legs going and the blood pumping, but Benny was sauntering out like he had all the worries of the world on his shoulders. He clearly wasn’t happy about something.

  7. MM – its the cesspool love in mate. Makes you sick doesn’t it.
Its the same for manure Chelsea and arsenal. 👿
They should just listen to themselves sometimes. Its cringe worthy. 😳

  8. Beardsley, it makes my blood boil mate. FFS it hasn’t even been mentioned that Suarez may have been offside for the sending off. The constant flicking to close ups of the Liverpool players and Gerrard in particular are particularly irritating.

Well, we seem to have carried Remy in the first half, he didn’t seem to get into the game much. Benny was also a bit hit and miss…

Looking forward to the second half ! 🙂

  9. Got a free ticket to the match today from a mate who had to go on a ‘team building’ weekend with his work. 😛
Sat in the gallowgate west corner. Soon to be re-named ‘The Morgue’ 👿
Shocking silence for most of the match.
Had a scouser sat in front of us, who made the mistake of a fist pump when gerrard scored. Stewards descended rapidly at HT and suggested it might be safer if he watched the 2nd half under the concourse on tv. Daft Lad.

  10. Beardsley, you have to wonder what the world is coming to when you can’t stand up, sing a bit or get excited at a football game. There are probably several reasons for the “morgue” like atmosphere where you were sitting. Trust you to land in a non-singing section 🙁 Heavy handed stewardship at the toon perhaps, and the fans fears of being kicked out or perhaps banned for “misbehaving” ?

Bring back the standing sections pleeeze…. It makes for a fantastic atmosphere at most Bundesliga games, I’d love to see standing come back to the English game…

  11. Toonsy I agree 100 % about the mackem game, form etc wont come into it IMO.
Have to say im still well pleased with how we performed today and am convinced with 11 I think we would have had all 3pts.
I am not surprised by the media’s idea that it was down to liverpools misfortune, bad luck etc that they only got the draw rather than credit us.
