Redknapp names price for Loic Remy

Remy’s future still no clearer
Newcastle have been told that they may have to stump up £16 million if they wish to make Loic Remy’s deal permanent, or risk losing out on him completely.

Harry Redknapp has now hinted that he is willing to let the former Marseille striker leave Loftus Road on more than just a loan deal but feels that the performances of the 27-year-old since his arrival in the Premier League warrant a fee that is double what QPR paid just over a year ago.

Remy is our top scorer this season despite the flow of goals slowing down in recent weeks. However his his contribution of ten goals in 18 appearances for us this term added to the six goals scored for QPR at the tail end of last season give him a record of 16 goals in 32 league appearances since his move across La Manche – a record of a goal every other game.

“I don’t know what the deal is,” said Redknapp. “You’d think they’d want to snap him up, wouldn’t you? If they don’t, then someone else will.”

“For what we got him for, he’s probably worth double that now. He’s scored goals in the Premier League again this year.”

“Would we want him in the Premier League? That’s all ifs and buts. You’ve got to get there first, and if someone came and offered £15m or £16m for him, I’d sell him if it was my choice. But it’s not, it’s down to the chairman.”

The problem is, as I understood it at the time, there is some form of clause in the deal with Remy where a permanent fee has already been kind of agreed between the two club and representatives of Remy but it’s not quite as cut and dry as paying that fee and signing the player.

Remy still has allegations of rape hanging over him which would have a severe impact if anything ever comes of it. Obviously I know nothing of the detail and that is something for the legal system to sort out, but if you look at it from a business perspective, do you sign a player who could potentially be unavailable for an amount of time?

Redknapp is just trying to spark up some interest in Remy. There may well be other clubs taking a look but all he is trying to do is to get Newcastle to blink first in my opinion.

What do you think?

i hear what ya saying about performance and we all want to see us playing teams off the park, but first and for most the most important thing in my book is the team geting the job done i.e. geting the 3 points in the bag,and to be quite frank i dint care if our winner gos in of some1 backside as long as the team get the job done.

we also deserved our win at spurs and the simple reason for that is we scored they did not, and on that day the team got the job done or should i say krul got the job done, cant tell me krul did not deserve to be on the winning side that day
