Game On! Newcastle United V Bournemouth

Biggest game of the season?Welcome all to the Game On thread, where you can dissect and reflect on Newcastle United’s must win home match against Bournemouth as the game progresses.

The thread is late up, so I wont waffle as there is a game to concentrate on. Needless to say if we don’t win today then we the fans expect Steve McClaren to be shown the exit door. Well we expect that anyway… however, this is a must win game and if the lads don’t pull off a result today then no doubt the general consensus will be that we will be playing Championship footy next season.

  1. Think Jabba is too wrapped up in his property deals and his baby SD to be bothered with the financial drain that is NUFC. Starting to think he sees us as a toy he’s grown bored with. Let’s hope so and he sells up.

  2. Yes I think Moyes would be more likely. But Moyes would like control and will that be acceptable to him? He’s famous for his diligent (over diligent some say) look at new signings and he won’t have much say on that side of things.

  3. Stu, If Jabba cares at all, then he has to rip up his plan and go a different way, he has already started to anyway with the spending on British players last window.

  4. There’s never a guarantee changing manager will work. But sticking with someone who has failed all season is more risky.

  5. So Eric’s mate, Lee Ryder reckons we won’t sack McClaren unless we have a replacement lined up. Bit obvious isn’t it…?

  6. Gashley
On Stuart Pearce, he’s played for NUFC, an England international, managed Man City in the premier league and coached the England u21s for years.
I don’t think he has a bad record. He is a very passionate person and as a stand in until the end of the season I would say he’s a very good option.

  7. But considering how long it took them to replace Pardew it could be a long wait for them to find McClaren’s replacement so we could be stuck with him.

  8. Actually Stuart Pearce has an excellent record in his first ten games of every job he’s had.

  9. Was Stu Pearce U21s at England when Mc was managing the seniors?.

I’m wondering how that might work if Mc stayed on as DoF, if they’ve worked together before it might just make sense – at least til the end of the season anyway.

  10. If they gambled on Carver keeping us up they are just as likely to stick with Steve in the hope something clicks.

  11. So the local journo’s are now saying they need a replacement lined up before sacking him. Almost like they’ve been briefed that… Next week it will be “The club couldn’t find a replacement.”

  12. This lay out is bloody awful. I suppose the new blogs all about advertising like Gashley said.

  13. I thought today would be the day McClaren might get the sack. It’s all paper talk like big Dave said. We are stuck with McClaren. Hurry up and be relegated the seasons over.

  14. I hate to judge our fans because I thing we are a great set.
But anyone who travels to Leicester has move money than fucking sense IMO.

  15. need a replacement lined up? I hope this is just paper talk.

Surely they would of at least thought about a new manager a month or so ago? has it just hit home yesterday the position we’re in??

  16. Apparently Moyes wants the job. Just give him the bleeding job then and sack McClaren! How difficult is that?!

  17. So the people that pulled me up the other day for ‘having subtle digs’ about the place – now can you see why? I said from day one I was concerned the new guys were not existing users and might not have the Toon bug in the same way as the rest of us. You can’t run a blog like this and not be involved in it. If anyone writes an article in the next hour and a half, I can publish it.

  18. I’ve got this horrible feeling that the club won’t be able to find anybody willing to take the job as described by the club and we will be left with McClaren to go down.

It all seems to hinge on having a replacement which might be normal but the speed this club works and the limitations the coach has on the club make sit very difficult imo.

  19. Wonder what Ashley is actually doing now? Does he watch these football shows? He is suppose to live football. I hope he does because he will realise the **** were in and he will get his fin get out.

I have a radical idea. Play two wingers – 2 strikers and get the crosses flying in! That will give us a better chance.
