In a breaking development, Rafa Benitez will be appointed as new manager of Newcastle United on a three year deal according to Sky Sports presenter Jim White.
Rafa Benitez set to take over on a reported three-year deal #NUFC
— Jim White (@JimWhite) March 10, 2016
After the reported sacking of now ex-Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren earlier today, rumours have been circulating that Spanish manager Rafael Benitez who has twice managed in the Premier League already with Liverpool and Chelsea will be taking over the hot seat at St James’ Park for the remainder of the season.
With the club currently occupying 19th spot inside the Premier League relegation zone, it was clear that Newcastle needed to act quickly and decisively should they wish to remain in the English top flight for at least another season. With a La Liga title with Valencia, Champions League title with Liverpool and a Europa League title with Chelsea to boot, the rumour suggests Newcastle clearly believe they’ve found the man who can lead the club to safety.

The reason I am still only at 45% is because Rafa hasn’t met our esteemed board yet. He might change his mind sharpish!

But if we do get Rafa I can honestly say it will restore a lot of hope back for me, I would say it would be as high as when Jabba signed KK

I’m trying to be mega positive, but I can’t go more than 50%.

The question is, will Rafa have enough time to work his magic and keep us in the Premier League?.
I’m generally very optimistic, but I worry about just how deep has the rot set in for this group of players?.
He’s without doubt the right man, but is this task beyond Rafa himself?.
I’m not being negative, just realistic. It took Hiddick and Klopp time when they first arrived.
I agree with Stu, 4 wins should be enough, but can he hit the ground running?.

Kimtoon: Mackems appointed Di Canio on March 31, 2013 and he had 13 games and a 23% win%.
