Get Rid: Five Players Newcastle Need to Move on This Summer

  1. Georginio Wijnaldum

Is 'Gini' the catalyst for a new Toon Dawn?

Controversial one this I know considering Gini finished the campaign as Newcastle’s top goal scorer with eleven league goals. Undoubtedly one of Newcastle’s most gifted players with great touch, lightning fast feet and a low centre of gravity, Gini on his day, is outstanding.

When things are going badly though and the team is struggling, particularly away from home, Gini goes missing. All of his eleven goals came at St. James’ Park, many when Newcastle were winning and/or playing well. When the chips are down though, it was a different story. Can Newcastle really rely on Wijnaldum on a difficult away game at some of the Championship’s more basic away grounds on a wet and windy midweek evening?

He’s also a player who could command a good transfer fee and he’s desirable to many other clubs. If Newcastle had stayed up, Gini would be one of the first players you would want to stay but with Newcastle facing a fight to get back up, Gini’s got to go.

And just in case any of you are wondering how Gini’s on the list but Gouffran isn’t…he needs to go too, I just realise that, as fans, you already know that.
