Newcastle United keen on a surprise move for West Ham United defender

Oxford

Newcastle United are eyeing a swoop for West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford, according to reports from the Daily Express.

Oxford managed to break into the West Ham United first team last season and it is clear to see that the defender has a lot of potential.

As a result, it has been no surprise that a host of clubs are interested in signing Oxford and recently, German side Red Bull Leipzig and Premier League giants Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the 17-year-old.

Now according to reports from the Daily Express, claims have been made that even Newcastle United are keen on acquiring the services of Oxford. Rather than purchasing Oxford though, Newcastle are said to be ready to sign the youngster on a season long loan deal.

West Ham clearly do not want to lose Oxford anytime soon and sending the teenager out on loan to the Championship with Newcastle could certainly be an idea West Ham entertain, as it would give him an opportunity to earn regular first team experience.
