While relegation is never welcomed by anyone, it does give clubs a chance to rebuild and Newcastle United will certainly be doing the same this summer.

Manager Rafael Benitez looks set to revamp his squad with a host of new signings as well as potentially giving youngsters a chance to impress in the first team.

One of players who looks very likely to feature prominently for Newcastle during the upcoming campaign is goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

With Tim Krul and Rob Elliott both ruled out with injuries during the latter part of last season, Darlow stepped in performed exceedingly well.

Given his experience in the Championship, Darlow will be called upon by Benitez once again and the young goalkeeper is looking forward to the campaign, and in particular the clash against former club Nottingham Forest.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Darlow said: “It’s football – you are always going to back to clubs you have been at before. We will just see what happens when I go there. I will be excited to play against them and hopefully we can do well against them.”
