Newcastle United in talks over defender’s transfer, confirmation in 24 hours

Newcastle United skipper Fabricio Coloccini is set to seal his exit from St. James’ Park within the next 24 hours, according to reports from the Shields Gazette

Fabricio Coloccini has undoubtedly been a wonderful servant for Newcastle United since joining the club from Deportivo La Coruna back in 2008 but it has to be said that the defender has endured a rapid decline over the past two seasons.

Coloccini performed very poorly during Newcastle’s terrible campaign in the Premier League last term and following the Magpies’ relegation, the former Argentine international had stated that he would be looking to leave the Tyneside club.

He had said, “With the relegation, they are pointing to a new plan with young people under 25 years old. So it is a matter of talking and then proposing to them my exit.

“At the moment, I have in mind going back to Argentine football. I want to go back to San Lorenzo and fulfil the dream of entering the pitch with my kids and retire there.”

It can now be revealed by the Shields Gazette that Newcastle are currently in talks with San Lorenzo over the prospective transfer of Coloccini and the official announcement of the move is expected to be made within the next 24 hours.
