Newcastle United eye defender who has scored 21 goals in two seasons

Newcastle United are planning a move for Bristol City defender Aden Flint, according to reports from the Shields Gazette.

It has been no surprise to see Newcastle United being continually linked with a host of central defenders in recent times and the latest player being touted with a move to St. James’ Park is Bristol City star Aden Flint.

Flint has managed to earn a reputation as one of the most solid defenders in the Football League after helping Bristol City win promotion into the Championship two seasons ago and then playing a key role in helping the Robins avoid the drop last term.

In addition, the 27-year-old scores a lot of goals for a central defender and this statement can be evidenced by the fact that he has managed 21 strikes over the course of the past two seasons.

As a result, Flint has been able to attract the interest from a number of clubs and reports from the Shields Gazette claim that Newcastle are keen on signing the imposing defender.

Newcastle are not the only team interested in the Bristol star though, as even rivals Sunderland are believed to be monitoring his situation.
