Report: Crewe Alexandra will profit from Newcastle United’s potential £6 million signing

Crewe Alexandra stand to receive a welcome cash injection if Newcastle United are successful with their pursuit of Blackburn Rovers defender Grant Hanley, according to reports from the Stoke Sentinel.

Newcastle United have understandably been linked with a host of central defenders following the departure of stalwarts Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor this summer and recently, claims have been made that the Magpies have identified Grant Hanley as a potential replacement.

According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Newcastle are currently closing in on the signing of Hanley and it is believed that the Magpies will have to splash around £6 million in order to tempt Blackburn to part with the 24-year-old.

It goes without saying that Newcastle will be desperate to complete the move soon and now according to reports, there is another team in the form of Crewe Alexandra that will be hopeful of seeing the transfer come into fruition as well.

The Stoke Sentinel have revealed that Crewe had placed a 10 percent sell on clause on any fee Blacburn earn from the sale of Hanley and if Newcastle succeed with their 6 million pursuit, the Railwaymen stand to pocket a cool £600,000.
